Some facts about Ukraine 🇺🇦 Few people know that the Bulgarians are in the basis for the creation of Kievan Rus/Old Rissia & Ukraine and their rescue from the hordes of Genghis Khan - The Mongols. After the fierce battle with a significantly smaller number, but brave Bulgarians, according to some sources, about 4,000 Mongols survive. According to others, the Volga Bulgarians killed all the Mongols! The Bulgar tribes during the rule of Khan Kubrat/Хан Кубрат, before coming to the Balkans had a country named Old Bulgaria - Volga Bulgaria/Волжка България (7th -13th centuries) and fought against Western Turkic Khaganate. Ibn Fadlan refers to Volga Bulgaria as Saqaliba, a general Arabic term for Slavic people. Other researches tie the term to the ethnic name Scythian (or Saka in Persian). The Ukraine capital Kyiv/Kiev/Киев is named of Shambat Kie/Шамбат Кий, also known with the short name Kyi. He was the founder of Kyiv and the Kyi dynasty, and the Prince (Knyaz) of Polans. Shambat Kie is actually a brother of the First Bulgarian Ruler named Kubrat/Кубрат, (the Bulgarian professional heavyweight boxer Kubrat Pulev/Кубрат Пулев is named after the ancient Bulgarian ruler) who had established a spacious state - "Great Bulgaria" in the steppes of modern Ukraine in ca. 632. He was also uncle of The Great Khan Asparukh, а ruler of Bulgars in the second half of the 7th century and is credited with the establishment of the First Bulgarian Empire in 681, an alliance between the ruling Bulgars and the numerous slavs in the area, and their South Slavic Language, the Old Church Slavonic, became the main and official language of the empire in 864. Asparukh/Аспарух is a Middle Iranian male name, attested in ancient Georgia and early medieval Bulgaria. It is a compound with the two elements: "aspa" (horse) and "rauk" (shine), meaning "he who has shining horses". Some other researchers claim that the name is derived from "aspa" (horse) and "rah" (soul), meaning "one with a soul of a horse". Bulgarians are also the First Slavic Nation to accept Orthodox Christianity after the Armenians and Greeks. They use the title Tcar/King/Цар six centuries before the Russians started to use it. The Bulgarian Church became the First Independent Church in Europe in 927. The first Metropolitan of Kiev was a Bulgarian - Saint Cyprian/Свети Киприян, Metropolitan of Moscow, Kiev and all Russians. Interresting. Some czech songs sound like austrian folklore and dances too. Yes, they are neighbors. By the was, in Burgenland, former Hungary and now a Region of Austria, there are some citizens with hungarian and croatian origin. There are also several dance groups for their own traditional music and dance.
For me the Slavic dances , are of two kinds, The western Slavic , Poland and Danubia countries, ( Slovakia, Slovenia,Czech Repúblic, Hungary and Eastern Áustria) and on other hand, Rússia, Belarus, Ukraine and Balkans( Bulgária, Croatia, Albânia,, Macedónia, Romania and Serbia)!
You are right. That is why (because of cultural, historic, genetic and linguistic differences) Slavs are divided into 3 groups: Western, Eastern (both are often considered as Northern group) and Southern ones. Slavs live from Germany to Japan and from Norway to Greece, so differences are great.
Thank you!! I believe those who are closest to Greece, like Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria. The dances are almost common in the regions of Thrace and Macedonia. :))
You did a great job representing most slavic dances - there are some that you just cannot show in one person. I really like the bohemian (West of Czechia) dances for couples and perhaps it's the case of Slovenia too, I don't know. Then there are the group dances where half of the group carries the other half's weight - those are a lot of fun too😁
Absolutely beautiful work as always Vasilis! I’m proud of being Bulgarian, and I’m proud of my Southern Slavic heritage. We Bulgarians aren’t and never were Tatars or Mongols. Whoever says that doesn’t know Bulgarian history. Scholars have found the Bulgarian people to be descendants of Slavs, Thracians, and Eastern Iranians (Persians). Peace and love to all Slavic nations and I hope and pray for this war in Ukraine to end soon 🇧🇬❤️🇷🇸❤️🇭🇷❤️🇸🇮❤️🇲🇰❤️🇲🇪❤️🇧🇦❤️🇸🇰❤️🇨🇿❤️🇵🇱❤️🇺🇦❤️🇧🇾 ❤️🇷🇺
I totally agree with you, I don't know why you people are being called Tatars or Mongols. I feel totally embarrassed and ashamed to read such comments, especially from Serbs being Serbian myself. Bulgarians are Slavic people, yes at first they were a Turkic(NOT Turkish, Turkic) tribe of Bulgars from the East but soon after became Slavs mixed with Thracians and so on. You should be proud of your heritage, greetings from 🇷🇸.
Let us recall the words of the great politician and president of France in the 20th century, Mr. Francois Mitterrand, who said: “The Bulgarian people are one of the creators of civilization on our planet. Thanks a lot!
Εξακολουθείς να με εκπλήσεις εξαιρετικά.
Υπέροχη δουλειά!
❤️Thank you!
@@Folklor_Wonder No we Bulgarians are not slavic, we originate from the Bulgars who are mixed with the Thracians.
Let us recall the words of the great politician and president of France in the 20th century, Mr. Francois Mitterrand, who said:
“The Bulgarian people are one of the creators of civilization on our planet. The Bogomils create the European Revival!"
Reminder:
Bulgaria has always meant:
good food, pure nature, mineral springs, golden sands, quality wines, ski resorts, beautiful women and strong men.
A piece of paradise in a shape of a lion!

Oh, who you think you are depends on your political situation. Cossacks also like to write themselves down as Turks, only the Turks themselves are not happy with such brothers. But there are also enough Cossacks loyal to their Slavic identity. And these Cossacks gave freedom to Transnistria.
Thanks 😊 Greets from Poland ❤

I'm glad you used some of the materials I sent you and you did Oberek as well, i was about to send you that one as well, but forgot 😅
Love all the dances! 🙌
Thank you very much!:)
My goodness! Am I mistaken or is there really just one dancer?😅 Thank you for the great work in presenting the dances and editing the video!
Gracias por está preciosa presentación, saludos desde Lomas de Polanco de Guadalajara, México 🇲🇽
Muchas gracias!!
i love seeing how similar some of the moves are between the dances! we have so much more in common than we think!
I can't wait for other pan-ethnic dances like Turkic, Arabic, and Latin!
I really hope this includes Slavic minorities in non-Slavic countries.
Nice idea!:)) This particular video is about the 13 Slavic countries, so no minorities unfortunately. However, they can be added in other videos as well, I want to include everyone at some point. Rusyn folklore, for instance. :))
Благодаря ❤
