950-1,000 rpm (981 in game) was actually a realistic speed given to mid-late war guns, because the 1,200 round models sometimes had a tendency to detonate cartridges out of battery, due to slight obstructions like dirt. This could potentially rupture cases, and could potentially damage the gun. The fix was a just a few little spring assists on the rollers and a slightly heavier bolt. The models that didn't receive the changes were often fitted in a fortified position, such as a bunker, where dirt and debris wasn't such a large issue. For all you firearms novices, out of battery means that the case isn't fully seated in the chamber, and didn't contain the force.
@@nathanielorend9641 Probably ones intended for anti-aircraft mounts could and since there wasn't much apparent difference between them and the infantry models-they probably ended up in the hands of the infantry a lot too.
@@smokingcrab2290 they are very dumb sometimes...like it was mainly used with 50 to 250 belts but a belt you can make 75...100...150...so I dont get why they didnt do that.
Thank you for making this! Also, the rpm upgrade isn't useless, it just means it's not a weapon for holding down choke points, it's a weapon for flanking and aggressive play, because even with the 250 belt, your barrel will still overheat anyways, so with the 15% reload reduction, it's not that much worse than changing the barrel, and it allows you to win more fights in close range
I’m happy this game pays attention to the belt of the gun. Unlike in COD, you use one of the same type of MMG and you realize the belt still has a lot of bullets left, but it says you have 001/200
tell me you noticed it because if we're not lost... the hiss and the steam coming out of the barrel of the gun, it's not a new animation it's a reuse of some bf 1 damn those from E.A.

Sometimes a mg42 could fire even faster, like 1500rpm.
I think the training ones where tuned down to like 800 too. I know MG3 trainers are tuned down
It was actually 1550-1800 rpm, and got reduced to 1200. The mg3 reduced it to 850-900 rpm.

1200 for the win
Yeah but only with 50 rounds
@@jmpmp_505 quick reload
@@megamillion2461 Still isn’t enough. It simply doesn’t compare to having 250 rounds.
Nah better 250 bullets in 900rpm than 50 bullets in 1200rpm
@@GamesTube80 Yeah, especially factoring in reload times.
3 seconds... 3 fucking seconds and it's all gone.
not being able to take the 250 round perk with the fire rate one makes it worthless.
Fangs of Yima say that to my 100 kills a game. 1200rpm Tap fire
Ikr
Fangs of Yima yeah at least give us a 100 rounds for it

I’m sure the Allies would have suffered less casualties in D-day if the MG42 was that restrictive in real life.

Jonathan Stanford idk why. But it sounds different bow than when I played with it five days ago. Did they nerf it again?
@@nicholasholloway8743 idk, haven't touched the m42 for days
@@nicholasholloway8743 It sounds different to me too!
It's a wall of bullets. May be inaccurate but it only needs 3-4 rounds to kill and at 1,200 rpm doesn't matter how bad the hipfire is
60 fps vs 120 fps belike

I did not chose the 1200 rpm cause you cannot upgrade the 250 rounds belt . 50 rounds plus 1200 rpm is not so good .
1200 rpm with 50 bullet..... USELESS
What about the Kriss Vector smg? Same rpm but with 20! XD
San Lorenzo But not a supressing machine gun...
have you heard about balance?

You realize the belt diminishes in COD: Modern Warfare, right?
Well i never seen any modern CoD's do that, but can you tell me an example
I came back after checking CoDs, and it turns out the belts also deplete. So what you're saying is a lie
@@Ajay-dy3xw From the old Black Ops, to Modern Warfare 3, I think Ghosts is when it started to show the detail.
