    You are working out the Presso rod to its maximum capability. I did that with my 6'6" Quantum ultralight rod and snapped it trying to land a halibut.

      That’s the worse, you always want to have the pics of mine that the rod can handle a bigger fish.

    Nice video dude! Presso’s are pretty great UL rods. I started out with the 6’ about a decade ago then bought a 4’ a few years later. Both rods are awesome. The blanks have the perfect fast taper with a stout backbone. I’ve landed 22” smallmouth with the 6’. I’ve been at my current place of work for a month at a pretty big locally owned outdoor store in Michigan. Needless to say an 8’ Presso left with me after work today. And, with my employee discount it was $45. I got a 1000 size Daiwa Fuego yesterday and I’m super stoked to use this combo! :)

      That’s a perfect set up. I got the 9’ recently to do UL fishing off the surf. It’s super sensitive still w all that current and waves

      Ok, you cannot make a comment like a comment like that and not have someone ask if you are referring to JAY'S.
      That store in both locations was where I spent a lot of my time during my childhood.

      Nailed it. Jay's is an awesome place and I've been there just over a year now. I couldn't imagine working in a better environment. I've bought more fishing gear in the last year than I have in the last decade lol.

      @@ryanwilson5936 Yes. My father grew up in the Claire and Farwell area, and actually bought a firearm from the founder when he was still operating from home just getting started.
      I got my 8ft press rod there on a trip back from Da UP.
      I put JAY'S above bass pro or Cabela's.

    These rods were greatly undervalued and are near impossible to source any longer. The model still available (pack rod) is not anything like the other models and breaks very easily.
    Daiwa has learned and now offers VERY expensive high end versions.
    Fun to see it really getting put to task.

      Yeah, it is one of my favorite rods! Here in Los Angeles, I started to see tackle shops stocking up again. I think because of the pandemic maybe the production slowed down but I have seen the 5' to 8' rods but none of the 9' and 11'. Hopefully those will be coming soon as well.

    Hey mate just wondering what weight of lures you were able to get away with thinking about getting the Presso 662ULFS but wanna be sure ill be able to throw slightly heavier lures maybe 18grams or so with ease cheers love your work mate looking forward to hearing back

    • @belowaveragefishing4771
      @belowaveragefishing4771  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      18 is pretty heavy. I maxed it out at 8g and it’ll cast it out fine but working it wasn’t as good (for the 8ft model) my 6’6 maybe 7 grams is max it’s a true UL the 8ft it’s closer to a ML

  • @CakeZRqGoTR
    @CakeZRqGoTR 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How far do you think you can cast with this using a 1/4 ounce lure? I'm thinking of getting one to cast farther than I can with my 6ft rod.

    • @belowaveragefishing4771
      @belowaveragefishing4771  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It casts pretty far maybe 40-50 yards. The big thing is using thin braid. I use this one w 8 lb J braid and it flings anything. W a 1/4 ounce spoon I was almost doubling my casting distance. It’s a fun rod for sure and one of the few quality 8ft ul you can get for under $80

    • @CakeZRqGoTR
      @CakeZRqGoTR 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@belowaveragefishing4771 Did you know they offer an 11ft UL Fast Presso too? It also specifies 1/4 oz as the max lure rating. Principle suggests this would cast even farther than your setup, right?
