    Thank you for this video! This is the single best Klein video helping me to make a decision on what I should get, I was a little overwhelmed into which ratcheting set up I wanted to get. I have a lot of regular screwdrivers and this whole pack out ratcheting set up is EXACTLY what I want especially when I have to entirely dismantle pieces for recycling or repurposing parts.

    I love these mini sets. I just wish Klein would move into the metric space. I understand why they don't, but it would be more helpful for me in the stuff I work on around the house and shed if these small socket kits were metric. I've been wanting a ratcheting screwdriver, and this new 11-in-1 has been at the top of my list. I'll probably still go with them, but it would be nice if there was a small metric socket kit for a be-all, end-all. I'm waiting to see what the new Icon mini kit looks like. I'll likely go with that unless it's more than a Wera Tool Check Plus.

    "Intense" compatibility?
    Here's an example for you. I strongly support metricfication. I chose metric fasteners as often as I can.
    But don't change my 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", etc. square drive socket wrenches.
    Likewise, 4mm is the standard precision bit size. There is no excuse for Klein to make 3.5mm bits other than to screw up the market.
    Just say know.

    • @drscopeify
      @drscopeify หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have around 30 different sets of precision bits and it's a proper smorgasbord, even if they are all 4mm some fit some don't. I assume that it is just the nature of tolerances and variations in manufacturing. I personally keep sets together and rarely even try and cross between them.

    Klein makes some nice screwdrivers and I have many. I just picked up the new 11-piece screwdriver (32500-HDRT) and 1/4" socket set (65300) for a general everyday use set. I'm passing on the 3/8" socket set because...
    I think they really missed the mark and opportunity to make the 1/4" and 3/8" sets compatible with other manufacture's pass thru sets (GearWrench, Crescent, etc.). It would have been great that they could accept those others to expand use and ability to add metric sizes. They are very similar but are sized slightly different.
    Klein needs to make a holders for the MODBox that permits you to snap on and carry the 11-piece screwdriver, so the set stays together. Many people, myself included, buy them to use together.

    Typing this on a Saturday, I'm glad I have time to re-visit their 11-in-1 (32500 HD non-ratchet version) bought 4 months ago and tossed into the drawer after one use. Perhaps I did not spend enough time as a child with my Lego set, but there's a learning curve. I did not appreciate the factory grease (without it, will this thing corrode?? ) and how long it took to assemble whatever bit I was trying to assemble at the time.
    I clicked on this older video because of a recent MODBox video. I'm interested in the kits and desperately need to get away from large toolboxes filled with sockets and wrenches I can never locate no matter what divider system I buy into. This system might be my ticket off the merry-go-round, but I'm not thrilled with the prospect having everything together but taking a long time to put together.

  • @TestSpaceMonkey
    @TestSpaceMonkey หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    How hard is it to coax the inside trays out of those boxes?
    I could see cutting/printing custom liners for application-specific kits. You kind of stumbled into demonstrating the problem with such a modular system: it's easy to misplace the part you're after. A kit with a bright open space for each item makes it harder to just leave one in the dirt or the engine bay.

    I can't believe you're just getting that replacement from klein. I feel like you first mentioned that like 18 months ago.

      I first mentioned it in December 2021.

    Why is this system any different than a bit holding screwdriver and 1/4" dr. to 1/4" hex drive adapter? Pick any bit you like, slap it in the adapter.... Put any socket you like on the 1/4" dr.
    Sure you can connect this system a bunch of different ways but in the end you are left a screwdriver or a ratchet, no?
    I don't see the advantage of having to connect 4 different adapters to end up with a regular P2 screwdriver.

      I think the pass through feature is the real selling point. They just made sure it’s workable with their other systems (which is smart). I don’t think they are pretending this will replace all your drivers or dedicated screw drivers.

    The klein stuff is neat. But realistically all the boxes would get thrown out, the bits organized into holders, and the tools in a drawer or roll up bag. Space is a huge factor and as much as I have liked the cases tools have come with, it is not viable to take up so much area. Open one drawer and be done with it instead of locking and closing 5 tabs.

      My first thought was also how much wasted space there was in those boxes... especially if space is at a premium like I imagine it would be for overlanding. I like the concept of the boxes interlocking and automatically locking, but perhaps the inserts could be torn out and replaced with something more efficient.

      I agree with you. It looks really nifty and tempting. But after thinking about the efficiency, it’s just not space efficient enough for me to be happy.
      I have the Harbor Freight flex head 1/4” ratchet kit. It’s very space efficient. Much more than these Mod Boxes. I have mine stored in a small Tom Bihn shoulder bag. The tools in these could fit but the cases wouldn’t.

    9/16 = 14.2mm...The snap on socket obviously has loose tolerances.A 14 should not fit the 9/16...but also your 9/16 is probably not exact either. .563 is the decimal for 9/16....No socket is exact but it should be like 14.1...or 14.15mm.Nobody wants loose fitting sockets..Strange because snap-on is known for tight tolerances.I think the klein can afford to be tighter since in general it would not be seeing rusty fasteners like the snap-on would.

    The problem occurred in December of 2021? It took Klein over 2 YEARS to replace the bit?

    Klein ignored my request to replace a JS2 which was actually a PH2. I’m done with them.

    Way too complicated. I have every bit I need for small fasteners in 1/4" insert and/or power bits, and a full set of nut drivers that also have a 1/4" impact style base. Any of these will work in any of my ratcheting screwdrivers, bit holders, micro ratchets, or drill/driver with (or without) a quick-change impact-style chuck. Or in my offset or right-angle or flex adapter if needed.
    No need for any adapters, or multiple steps flipping various pieces around. Everything has the same base, and fits in any holder or driving tool, with only one step. And I'm not dependent on parts from any one company. I can substitute any component with a product from a different company.
    As nifty as this is, it involves more fussing around and playing with gadgets, and requires carrying more crap around. It almost seems like a toy for people who like playing with tools, more than getting things done with those tools.
