I had a Kansas City, Missouri police detective tell me that the criminals know they won’t be Prosecuted in Jackson County Missouri. He said that’s why in Johnson County Kansas they have so many less vehicles stolen because the criminals know over there if they’re caught, they go to jail.
This prosecutor is retiring but it is critical to get much more vigorous policing and prosecution for crimes in Jackson County. The Republican nominee seems more likely to be tough on crime because her Democratic opponent was director of public safety under the Lucas administration and did nothing of note in that position and the Lucas administration has been disastrous in its handling of crime.

Well something isn't adding up. Cops, business owners, etc. have very different view of what's happening vs. the prosecutor and chief of police. Bottom line is, if these businesses can't function with a profit, they'll close up shop.
I was the victim of a property crime a few years. An individual caused over $900 worth of damage to my vehicle in front of two cops, they declined to even file the charges. This person was not deemed incapacitated and had no guardian. The officer took almost a month to give me a copy of the report or even a report number. I won small claims court, it’s still as hassle. Even the chief at a press conference earlier this year’s stated there’s only so much she can do if officers are using discretion or not pushing through with charges. Many instances if someone is legally incapacitated a police report in a conversation with a prosecutor can really help get that person connected with support.
