The hotel resembles nothing about the titanic. Pointless project
Subscribing to you was all the good luck I needed, I married one of your subscribers and now we watch every one of your videos together. :) Keep up the good work. Best wishes as Always from the Lone Wolf in the lakes. 🕊
@@mancunianinlondonIndeed, my recently "departed" asked me if I would offer to swap places on that floating wreckage? Of course, I would! ❤
Good, if you at least offered, I'd die for you, if you didn't I'd flip that board in an instant.
Still grieving, so smile, but be kind in your comments. 😊
I love that they reuse old buildings there rather than tear them down.
unfortunately we have demolished some fantastic buildings the Sailors Home and the Customs House are 2 gems lost forever.
the government do make it very difficult with these old buildings, i work in a grade 1 listed building so we are not allowed to install double glazing and any work we have done we have to jump through hoops to get it done which is ridiculous being as the work would help maintain the building.
@@watcherwriter1689 I wonder if the government has some incentive to promote the construction of new builds over the upkeep of existing ones?
@@jamescollins6085 these building are absolute money pits but the owner should be able to do any work necessary to keep the building standing and even modifying it so long as the basic appearance is the same, in my opinion anyway.
@@watcherwriter1689I am in full agreement. I also believe the interior should not be modified to such an extent that it cannot be returned to its original state, but there should definitely be more flexibility.
I've seen people forced to buy far more expensive building materials that are functionally and visually identical to the existing ones just because of a listed status, and if they do decide to save money on cheaper materials, they are usually forced to undo any changes and start again.
When you went into the lift (elevator) and the voice said "going down". Really keeping to the Titanic vibe 🤣
lol!
🤣🤣🤣
Great video Tim a bit spooky though room could have been cleaner take care xx
They should have had iceberg lettuce in the buffet...
Best comment yet!
You should review 30 James St hotel Liverpool. Its the original Whitestar Line offices and is loaded with genuine Titanic history.
Used to be a wonderful hotel. I worked there for a few years, but sadly it's not what it used to be anymore, as money hasn't been put into it for years to maintain it. Really needs it as it's such an old building. However, it is now closing down soon for a full extensive renovation I believe.
Yes, we stayed there last year, and l do agree with u it looks tried in places, but what a beautiful building with lords of history 😊
@@rebeccagamble8837 It was open the other week, I went up to the roof bar and had a drink, there were some guests knocking about and it all seemed okay then. Haven't stayed there because I'm from the area.
My thoughts too try James st stunning
The reason why restaurants put people close together is because staff normally get allocated a “zone/section” to serve. So as the restaurant is quite empty there’s probably limited staff on duty at that time so you’ve been put in one staff member’s zone.
I would for sure have called housekeeping about the bedding.
100%R that mattress covered in pubes was minging
Me too!!
Same!
Absolutely would!
That was gross, for sure.
At first I thought "WOW" but then you showed the mattress & I'm like "ick..never staying there" 😂
me too its gross
No excuse not to have spotless bed sheets and pillows.
There will be more dangerous bugs on anything else you touch
I stayed there last night it was immaculate really find it hard to believe that they missed that many hairs I mentioned you’re channel this morning to one of the cleaners and she said every sheet etc gets changed after every stay so she was very sceptical of you’re content. Don’t shoot the messenger I’m just giving the hotel a chance to explain as there are always 2 sides to every story
@@thewiseone1424 They no doubt started paying greater attention after Tim's video is my thought.
Love this hotel. My daughter and I stayed there before a Deacon Blue gig. We couldn’t open our wine so we rang for help and a bar worker came to our room and opened it for us. 😂 Great customer service. 🎉 Im a Liverpudlian too, so love staying in my home town. Great vlog Tim. Xxx
Good episode.
Hairs in the bed and bath. Carpets on dirty badly repaired floors. Creaking piping. Corridors so dark you need a flashlight. Bricks on the roof that look ready to fall at anytime.
£20 is entry to Wellness, more than just a pool.
Good looking breakfast.
Even with faults and the price its 100% better than the Adelphi Dump Hotel.
$20.00 was a lot for a swim in the spa, but if you planned on using it quite a while, I suppose it's your choice to pay more. Not sure I would, but you never know.😊
I love the worker who showed you around, he clearly knew his stuff and was excited to tell you. Liverpudlians are the nicest people on earth honestly
Yes he seemed really nice and cheerful
ive been to that hotel twice now and spoke to him both times, really really nice guy, super friendly
Bet he was a Ghost 😮
But for some reason he didn't want to be on camera
@@nathanbabiuk6286 nothing wrong with that
You can't trust the cleanest of the rooms, at £178 one would expect high quality rooms.
What tacky gold furnishings and "designer" curtains? Not for me thanks.@@stvnlake
@@stvnlakeso long as you don’t mind paying 5 times more
Being a local I’ve stayed here a few times with my partner. Really lovely hotel, humongous rooms and the spa is fabulous. But don’t forgot your wallet for the bar, you’ll need it!
@@tuberantz4676That was the 51st State, but the footage (from the outside atleast) was the East Float Quay buildings in Birkenhead
@@tuberantz4676no, wrong side of the River Mersey
Quadrant Park was on same side of water and up the road in Bootle. Where it was is now a recycle centre. A club over the water was the Drome - is that what you are talking about?@@tuberantz4676
I live in Liverpool, so always interesting to see you visit hotels closer to home.
Me and you both :D
I would have had the bed remade.
The showerhead is so high that either it will evaporate before it reaches the 9 PEOPLE IN THE SHOWER or it will start out boiling and be tepid by the time the "9" feel it. (Is 9 a record? Haven't seen all the episodes yet!)
I think its 20
@@satsumamoon
Maybe your peeps are very, very "friendly"!😐Did you mean 20 for this shower, or that's the record for some other shower?? Lol.
also the lube effect wont be great so I hope there is plenty of vaseline in that shower.
The lighting throughout this video has a really cinematic feel! Great video as always Tim. I'm from the south east, so £178 seems like a good deal. Really nice vibe, just gotta clean those beds hah!
I reckon you should visit the Titanic Hotel in Belfast. Great hotel & lots of history that won’t land on your head.
I loved the staircase replica and how nice the gentleman was who was showing you around. For the room: the spaciousness was great but like you Tim, I check everything for cleanliness. The hairs on mattress along with the carpet not being secured would have been a little damper but something that I could overlook partially. The mattress I would have pulled that cover off, but the carpet issue could easily be fixed with flinging on the slippers. Thank you for another nice video:)
I’m glad you did this as I’ve wanted to see why this hotel is like. That mattress was gross. Should be better in a hotel of that calibre.
Malmaison was the best hotel I’ve tried in Liverpool. I’d stay there again next time for definite.
Hi Tim - being Irish and living in Manchester 22 years, I love the Liverpool people and their rich history of Irish connections - I used to go on the overnight National Express Eurolines coaches to Ireland from Manchester for the ferry from Holyhead and we used to always pass through Liverpool and it’s a shame that this service was withdrawn a few years ago - it used to operate from Leeds, our regular Welsh coach driver was from Bangor and he used to drive back from Holyhead to Bangor at the end of his shift, as Bus Éireann drivers would then take over to drive us onto the Irish Ferries Ulysses ferry and off the ferry direct to Dublin Busaras coach station at the end of the 3 hours 15 mins Irish Sea crossing
Your video on both Claridges & the Savoy helped my bestie & I decide where to stay when we’re in England for the week on a girl’s trip! Thank you for such lovely videos-we can’t wait to experience them! ❤
I'm glad, Have an amazing time.. thanks for the support
The White Star Line was headquartered in Liverpool at 30 James St which is now also a hotel. The Titanic was designed and registered in Liverpool hence its name on the back of the ship although it was of course built in Belfast.
At the time the Titanic sailed, White Star line had moved to Southampton. They still have the office in Liverpool but the headquarters were in the south.
@@thisperson5294 The headquarters were always in Liverpool until they merged with another shipping company in the 1930s. White Star Line did have offices in Southampton though and their transatlantic services were based there.
Not a bad price. I liked the look of the plunge pool, looked like the flooded ship- quite eery. The captain of the Titanic lived in a house in Waterloo near Liverpool.
IMO all the old brick warehouse/ building's make the best apartments and the bone's are just stable and beautiful. We should save them all and keep them in our community were ever they are. Wonderful video. TY
Yes! I live in a 100 year old brick warehouse converted into affordable apartments. It's a quirky but solid building.
Yes the hotel is ok. Pretty interesting memorabilia. Very grand bedroom and high ceilings so hard to heat so probably not warm and cosy. I would have thought the pool would have been included in that price. Breakfast looked good. All in all not bad at all. Must say those corridors are very dark and lengthy to wander. Would have needed the torch on the phone for those.
I'm loving the steampunk gear carpet.
That spa looked very enticing, especially when you had it all to yourself-it looked like hot springs in a cave :) I also liked that you pointed out the bench seat and the view you could see from it. I loved how huge the room was, and the carpet in the hall was very unique. The worker there that showed you around seemed lovely to talk to as well. The staircase was beautiful. If the room was just a bit cleaner and the noise level at night a bit quieter it would be someplace I'd want to visit too.
Just got back from my birthday weekend away. First night in st Ives and the second in Bodmin jail... The jail was an experience of ups and downs tim. Amazing museum and hotel but definitely some issues
I’ve stayed there, lovely hotel with massive rooms and a lovely breakfast,it’s just a short taxi ride into the city centre.
Cost not bad at all, especially if that would also be for two. That carpet was dangerous though and those hairs were disgusting. Personally I would have asked for the cover to be changed. Room, bathroom, bar, breakfast etc spot on.
Another awesome video such an interesting environment.
Liverpool is such a vibrant city and has such an awesome history. It also has an awesome arts culture and the museums are awesome not to mention the football!!!
The night life is fun also 🎉
I'm otherwise not a fussy person, but the hairy bed would have been unacceptable by my standards, and in a polite British manner, I would have contacted the reception straight away.
Love Liverpool. The wife and I stop at the hard days night hotel.
Great videos Tim. I have just subscribed 👍🏻
I've stayed at the hard days night hotel and it was nice!
Thanks for the sub!
Your welcome 👍🏻
The place did not meet basic hygene standards with the curly hairs in the bathroom and on the sheets. Not acceptable.
A shame about the carpet / bedding etc, but overall I was not expecting the price. Exceptional value. If they sorted those few issues out it is pretty, pretty good!
What a wonderful re-purpose for that building! I am a fan of using the original structure. I like that this hotel is themed without being so "in your face" about it (not overboard like a Disney themed property or something, which to me those sort come across a bit cheap looking). Enjoyable yet subtle enough that it won't turn off somebody who just wants a nice hotel.
Absolutely gutted about all those hairs in the bed. They could have just all gathered in the dryer but get a lint roller on it housekeeping!!
The Titanic's staircase is based on the one in Liverpool Town Hall, which have open days now and again and well worth a visit. I was in this hotel last week, though it seemed empty and too big with a lack of any atmosphere. Much better hotels in Liverpool
Great video and a very cool hotel!!
Thanks for not being “shocked” 😁
I'm surprised they didn't give you a thousand options on how you identify and all that nonsense on the pool form.
don't give them any ideas! 🤣
you should come to Belfast and stay in our titanic hotel.
The bar/ dining room is the blueprints room where they actually designed the titanic, rooms look out onto the dry dock where it was built, and literally next door is the huge museum. Little piece of history, and a beautiful hotel
Sounds excellent. Would love to stay there to take in the history, I visited titanic museum last summer and it was excellent, especially when you go to the part where they have the violin etc on display. That whole area is so emotional listening to the music and the guy there knew so much about it.
Booked in for a few nights in April. Cannot wait. Also looking forward to exploring Belfast 😃🚢
@@elainekay1665 I hope you enjoy it, Belfast is a lovely city these days. I'd highly recommend the titanic experience (ask via hotel, may get discount). The game of thrones exhibition is around 30 mins away and totally 100% worth it if you're into it lol
The hairs did it for me to
No way I’m staying there
Thanks for the review look forward to your next hotel inspection ha ha
Regarding safety, the corridors are too dark.
My chap and I stayed there twice last year and loved it. I'm a massive titanic fan and was in heaven. The rooms are massive and the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was really good. He loves the massive bathroom and bath.
Paying 20 lb for a spooky giant hot tub is ridiculous. This hotel is a mixed bag, cool things and grungy things. (I would have made them change the hairy bed pad!) If you haven't yet, check out the Hard Day's Night hotel. I stayed there 10 years ago and loved it. I had a standard room but it was super clean, lovely, comfy, good bed, quiet. My view was of the outside of the winding staircase, but the lobby and staircase and bar are very nice. Of course it was only a couple of years old then but much more than I expected for the price. (no pool - not why I was there) They hooked me up with a private tour of the city and Beatle sites which was awesome.
Loved the room & the arched pool! Great value, would definitely stay here. Awesome videography & commentary!
A Interesting Hotel full of past History and Photo's bringing it alive.
I really like the addition of the spinning Google Earth shot. A little change adds a lot.
Hey Tim, if you wanna see "real" Titanic interior, check out some of the stairs in Liverpool Town Hall. They are made from surplus of the Titanic stairs.
Thanks for sharing the video. 💗
Black curly hairs make me want to vomit, 😮😮😮 I’d be requesting clean bedding for sure. So gross 😮
A bargain compared to London how much was Claridges and the Savoy £1200 a night.. The Spa at £20 was very reasonable it looked spectacular can't wait to visit..Thanks for the review mate..
It's the name that puts me off. Oddly if you're a big fan of the Titanic, you're probably not going to be into this hotel because aside from the name, staircase and a few photos, there's zero connectivity between what that ship actually looked like and the theming of the hotel. That hotel is Art Deco meets Steam Punk which were not part of the decade the Titanic was built. That makes the name seem more like a crass money-grab than anything else which for me, spoils the hotel. That said, aside from the furry sheets and a few other downsides mentioned, it seems like an interesting stay.
Came here to say exactly this! It’s trading on the name without even really trying to look like it gives a toss about the ship.
Yeah does seem to be kinda using the name for the sake of it, put up some white star line decor and blueprints of the ship. You can definitely understand the Belfast location using the name as it's right there where the ship was built. So It shares a lot of history with the ship. I thought when I seen the video come up that it probably was where the ship docked when in Liverpool, but it didn't even visit the city?
@@Klynch111 correct, the White Star Line offices were in Liverpool so the ship was registered there.
Hi Tim, thanks for your review of the Titanic hotel, quite nice idea. The reason you are seated next to others in a almost empty breakfast restaurant is simply to make it easier for staff to clear away. They cannot insist on your table and you are free to choose your own table, they just get a bit grumpy, but hey, who's paying? Look forward to your next one, thanks.
Leather couches: "Never very warm to sit on - especially when naked". lol. Thankfully, very easy to wipe down.
That makes so much sense now, at the start the brand logo for titanic is the same,as the one for the museum here in Belfast but the same company own both.
What a magnificent old building, I would love to visit it.
Great video Tim! You should go check out the Titanic Hotel in Belfast, it makes this one look more like a premier inn 🤜🏼
Love the bathroom and your factual description of the shower x
As someone who's worked in restaurants, the reason why you're sat with people when it's quiet is there's typically fewer waiting staff working too. You split the restaurant into sections and yours will be the one open so everything can be streamlined. You can imagine how annoying it would be if one waiting staff was on and everybody was spread out. :)
It's not far to walk lol. It was a buffet so the guests help themselves.
Bed room was imo dirty and I would have asked for a change of room.
I've never been someone who watches a lot of travel videos, just cause I often don't care to see the host in the way of things. But I love Tim's videos because I think he takes hotels the same way I would! I always notice the odd decisions and rough edges, but I also appreciate the little details and I love exploring the premises to see what's there. Oh and starting every day with coffee!
Thanks ben, means a lot :-)
The way u can tell how good establishment is is how they handle complaints. Why didn’t u have bed remade!? Tell them about dirty carpet.
I truly enjoy watching your videos I'm in the USA and have never traveled out of the USA . Thank you for taking me on your trips
Our pleasure!
What a unique hotel Tim. I've never seen anything like it. I love the swimming pool or Jacuzzi and the ceilings in the pool area are beyond cool. Very Gothic. Every hotel room should have a bar, very classy. I think one of the negative things for me would be the dark hallways by the rooms. On one hand, almost mystical and magical looking, on the other hand, not particularly secure when you cannot see people coming. I can only see the lights of the hotel door numbers. Mixed feelings on that one Tim. But 178 English Pounds, I would say it's definitely worth it. The breakfast looked delicious. But on a personal level, I'm more of a carpet person in hotels. The constant echoing of the large chambered rooms such as the dining areas and so forth, would probably aggravate my sense of space. But I have to give them many points for originality. I would stay there for a couple of nights.
More than I'd generally spend on a hotel room but I've got to say, compared to some of us places you've stayed and what you get this place seems excellent value, even if it is a little rough around the edges in places. It looks stunning.
11:18 the Stanley dock Tobacco Warehouse. Biggest brick warehouse in the world.
That pool is stunning 😍
Thanks for sharing Tim, I stayed here on the night me and my wife got engaged, a good 8 years ago and it’s a shame they’ve not refreshed the carpets and beds in that time. Definitely an upgrade on the Adelphi for your extra £120 though! 😉
A vary good video of I Stay In The Titanic Hotel In Liverpool😀😀👌👌
I have a couple of ideas for you, North of the border in🏴..
I used/still do work in the events industry.
Try St. Andrews bay hotel.
Gleneagles is a bit naff. All smoke and mirrors.
The Other One is Prestonfields house hotel in Edinburgh, Taste of scotland experience, around Hogmonnay time.
Boutique hotel. I know the Owner quite well, if it's still going.
Happy hunting. Regards. K.
Tim a bit further down that road, there is a place called Vulcan studios, it's a smaller scale of that building, but it is a music studio for local bands, my son plays drums, for 2 bands, and that's where they practise. Me and hubby have stayed there, when it first opened. 😊
The tobacco warehouse opposite the titanic is the largest brick building in the world and is currently being turned into apartments.
I remember when i saw the Titanic movie in the theatre in the 90s. As the movie was starting, someone in the front row yelled out, "Don't tell me how the movie ends.". A wiseguy in the back yelled out, "The ship sinks!". The first guy replied, "Looks like I just wasted $6.".
Ooh sounds like you had a regular Abbot and Costello routine in your theatre
Hi Tim,just caught up, loved this vlog, looked like an amazing building, nice to see how they've changed it into a hotel, loving the memorabilia of the Titanic. Liked the guy who showed you around, seemed very friendly.
Your room was massive, didn't like seeing the bed sheet with hairs on yuk!!!
Thanks for taking us there,as always a very enjoyable vlog. See you soon bye for now 😊xx
I have a sinking feeling about this upcoming video
I'm going straight to hell for laughing at this comment, but it's worth it.😂
Wow! Just down the road but didn’t know about it!
Love it! The pool looks like part of the Titanic as it was sinking and the noise from the water etc… could pretend you were there.
The lighting looks authentic and is fabulous!
Value for money looks good. Shame about the hairs :)
Love your video.. thank you for sharing this with us. We are Titanic fans. ❤❤
Thanks for watching!
A phone to call reception about the hairs 😱😱😱🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐
Another place we've visited, thanks to you Tim 👍keep up the great work 👌🤗
Thanks 👍
Look, I love watching your videos, and Casper is so cute but I didn’t know English people were so picky And complaining about every little thing! The black hairs are gross mind you. be a little bit more thankful, it will be a blessing to us Americans! 😢
Other than the bedding it seemed OK loved the guy showing you round he was so good
Hi Tim! Could you please visit wivenhoe house hotel? It’s a hotel on Colchester uni campus, run by students!!! 5 star hotel with lake views and fine dining for cheap. Would make my day to see you review the uni hotel. ❤
That pool area looks awesome and has such a great atmosphere.
Tim, you had me until you showed the carpeting and bed box spring. Multiple hairs on the sheets. Gross. Done. I'm out. I loved the coffee machine, water kettle, coffees, teas, sugars, creams. Love the bathtub. Hate the black curly hairs. Gross! The hallways is dark and creepy. Loved the museum section. The noise and cold not appealing. The restaurant/breakfast layout and jacuzzi/swimming pool made up for it. Overall, while appealing and tempting to visit for one night only, I'll pass. Good video.
Looks like a great hotel at a good price, the spa looked lovely.
That looked like a great experience and at a surprising price as well - good value
Looks fabulous , Thank you
*I've stayed there 3 times now, the Liverpool football team also stay there, last time I stayed Rory McCllroy got in the lift with me, we had a nice chat about the football (he's a Man U fan), we shook hands then went our separate ways, look out for great bargains you can stay for less than £150 a night*
Stay away from the iceberg lettuce.
As a fan of the Titanic I think it looks great. I like how big the room was and the bathroom too. Shame about the carpets and hairs on the bed I think i would have complained. The spa and pool looked good but I think it should be included in the price. Those corridors were very dark but I liked the hotel as a whole. Thanks for showing us around Tim 😊
What a cool place.
It's very quiet. Not many guests. Wonder how they can afford to keep it running with overheads being so extortionate these days. Doesn't make sense to have a Titanic hotel in Liverpool.
Oh I can't wait Tim. I bet this video goes down well😊
That hotel looked very depressing to me. The dirty carpet and mattress would have made me leave and go somewhere else! It's a shame when people make money out of a terrible tragedy. Thanks for showing it, Tim.
The white star line made many ships - not just the Titanic. Liverpool is a port city and the warehouse is on the side of the river and used to be used to unload the ships coming up the river, so it’s not really using tragedy to make money. This hotel is absolutely beautiful! I have stayed many times and it has always been spotlessly clean. The spa is stunning and extremely good value for money! Perhaps the encasement for the mattress that Tim requested has fabric which attracts hairs, as the normal mattresses are extremely clean as is the bedding.
I like the room design and overall interior of the hotel, though I found the corridor to be a bit too dim and eerie for my liking. However, the room, particularly the bathroom, felt incredibly spacious.
Beautiful hotel. You're right the halls are a little creepy. Good price but the spa should be included
178 not bad if the bedding was nice and clean . I would definitely would have asked for a discount based on the dirt bedding ;) rest of it really nice 👍🏼
Very interesting, Tim! Great to see they restore the old buildings. Thank you!
The pool was very atmospheric! The cleanliness of the room could be improved for sure and they need more lighting in the halls!
I'm so glad you done the titanic after the adelphi. There's a spa on hope street in Liverpool worth a night.
