Just bought my first live plant ever. It's one of these. I want to eventually change all my tanks to live plants. Gotta start somewhere so will see how this goes.
I have Moneywort in my 30g Hex. I bought it last month from the oldest (established in the 1800's) pond supply store in the country. I didn't realize it until they'd bagged everything and I was checking out that they'd grown it either immersed or dry. I think it was dry because there was no sign of water in the bag. I figured that I'd have a lot of trouble getting it to convert/adapt to being submersed but I was completely wrong. I don't think it's lost a single leaf in acclimation. It's been in the tank for 2.5 weeks and it's heading for the top! I love this plant!
I just purchased this plant yesterday from a fish store (just a bunch of clipped stems) - I loved the brighter green leaves, my tank is mostly full of darker green plants and love the contrast this plant has against them. Hopefully I have success with it like my other plants, but after watching this video I have high hopes!
finally some footage from the shop....and an actual aquascape! Looking good man. I'd like to keep seeing more from the shop; more plants and more aquascapes!! If you like that emersed growth look maybe a cool vivarium (paludarium? never sure the right term) or something would be cool in the shop (or the fishroom!)
+Rich's Fishes Yeah I am VERY interested in paludariums. I Just haven't had time to set one up yet. I always went crazy with my living room tank and made it a 4 ft tall paludarium. But I thought that might be a bit big being as I am new to paludariums.
Just got moneywart for my tank because it was looking a little sad. Gave the tank a pump of easy green. I am looking forward to it growing and filling out my tank.
Real cool video bud that moneywort looks real nice popping out of the water. I think that would look cool growing in the pockets of the 3d backgrounds im getting
Cory have you ever done a video on all the live foods? Micro worms, Banana worms, White worms, Wingless fruit flies? I think a lot of hobbyist could benefit from a video like this.
+tilapiastew Probably so. Our stock changes so fast etc. We are getting 3+ fish orders a week and 2 plant orders each week. It's just hard. I stay up late at night to edit videos, and to film in the store I have to get up early to film before we open the store. But yes I do plan to have more store videos coming out.
Thanks for helping me identify the plant I have I have this plant moneywort I bought it small a few months ago at Petco but I forgot the name of it I really love it in my guppy tank I'm going to add java moss to it
I'm surprised. I thought that bacopa monnieri are an outdoor semi-aquatic plant. Even though that it have taken over the shallow parts of my outdoor goldfish/white clouds pond and the white clouds seems to love it (to hide themselves from the goldfish). I have never view bacopa monnieri as an indoor aquarium plant. Now looks like my indoor goldfish are getting a new plant to be placed inside their aquarium soon.
I bought a ceramic ring full of these clippings from a local petshop and randomly stuck one in an old cheap fishbowl in the window with a couple of ramshorn snails that unfortunately came along with the plants. That one stem is now a 4 foot long vine that occasionally buds little flowers, is this normal?
in terms of light i would need a small light (2ft max length) 2000 lumens 5000 kelvin is said to best to grow indoor. does your shop or aquarium site offer lights that have that?
Hey Cory, I have a question for you. I have about 6 stems of 10 in (roughly) Bacopa carolinana that's been growing fully submerged in my tank for about 4 months with no problems, until I go on vacation for 2 weeks and leave my parents to watch the tank. They didn't turn the light on enough and now most of the leaves on the plant are gone leaving just the top 1.5 in at the top of the plant with foliage, my micro swords melted back a bit too but I'm not worried about that. I'm not sure what to do, have any ideas (By the way my tank is a 55 long).
My recommendation is just take care of it like normal, you'll get some stems melting back, but it'll start growing again, and solve the problem for good by putting the lights on a timer.
i have brahmi (moneywort) outside at the moment. i live in PA and fall is coming. IM trying to figure out what to do with it to survive over the winter. its in original plastic soil container from garden nursery.
My money wort hasnt grown at all it just keeps on melting after reaching about an inch 1/2 , that look is what im targeting to achive great looking tank btw
Hey I'm really confused between Bacopa monnieri(also called as moneywort) and Lysimachia nummularia (also called moneywort and creeping Jenny),i searched up a lot but I'm still confused why different place saying different things.
Can bacopa Carolina grow okay out of my tank it's very tall and out of my tank I want it to keep growing out of water but wanna know if the plant would survive
When you mean out of the tank do you mean potted, or like with the stamps growing out of the tank cause I think I have a question similar to it and if it’s the first then it would answer my question too

Just bought these and so far they’re already my favorite.

how’d it go
Same, it is a pain for it to NOT float
How are you doing so far. I recently started trying to go get into life plants and it's a little difficult

go big or go home!

+Michael Skurnik I filmed 16 videos at the shop that day. So more are coming. I plan to do some more at the shop as well in the future.

+AQUA NUT Yeah it's a fun plant.
I didn't know it would grow out of water like that...oh I am so getting some for my open top tanks.
+ShelbyRae Lane Learn something new every day :)

+Brian's Opinion/Comments I haven't yet. It is on the "to do" list of videos to make.
Cool video. It might be time for another store tour because there seems to be a lot of new stuff in there, thanks.

normally i'm all for the common names, but bacopa is both fun, and easy to say
Great video. And I agree we need to see the shop..
+Brian's Opinion/Comments Also on the to do list once I'm back from Japan.
Just got some today, trying to see what's the best way to plant it. Right into the sand? Or maybe attached to some decor.
Aquarium Co-op rocks!! Thanks 4 my can of Repashy Grub Pie!! My Corys and snail LOVES IT! It's like a steak dinner to them 😁
I had no idea! I'm on it!
Thanks man
I know the video was about the plant But that was a Nice angle.
Love the video . I have a bunch of this stuff growing in my green house
+Michael Eugenio I'm jealous of the green house :P

Can the top part of the cut bacopa grow on the surface of water? Just cut it into half and leave both afloat and will they both grow well?
2:06, the growth is somewhat etiolated. If grown in the sun the growth is compact with more leaves.
How long is the melting phase for the moneywort that I got delivered from website?
Might get some and float it in my angelfish fry tank.
+ItsNotButterOMG Should work out nicely for ya.
I had that plant it did laps around my tank, thumbs up tho
+ben walker Yep, it's an easy one for sure.
Can we grow it without soil
Great! Thank you so much!!!!!
+pia a I'm glad to see people enjoying these videos. I was worried they'd not go over so well :)
could I possibly plant moneywort in my paludarium and can you please do a video of how to cut moneywort great video
Just got this plant maybe about ten stems
How far apart do I plant them ???
What is a good way I can't keep it on one side of the tank? Maybe attack it to the glass somehow?
Why would you want to attack the plant? What did it do to you ?
I just like these videos.
+sijoje Gaming Great. More to come :)
in terms of light i would need a small light (2ft max length) 2000 lumens 5000 kelvin is said to best to grow indoor. does your shop or aquarium site offer lights that have that?
I’m starting to hate your videos. To many times I go - omg I want to do that. Kaching- goes the coffers.
Thank you very much for all you do. 🙏🏽
Will it send out runners? If I keep it trimmed, can I achieve a carpet effect?
Hey Cory, I have a question for you. Does it need susbtrate or can it grow without sand?
i have brahmi (moneywort) outside at the moment. i live in PA and fall is coming. IM trying to figure out what to do with it to survive over the winter. its in original plastic soil container from garden nursery.
Perhaps bring it into the garage or something like that with a shop light over it?
My money wort hasnt grown at all it just keeps on melting after reaching about an inch 1/2 , that look is what im targeting to achive great looking tank btw
What fertilizer are you using?
Flourish Excel if u use that...simetimes will melt plants...i went ftom using it to installing a fully pressurized Co2 system. Way better results!
Hey Cory how about an update on the monewort?! Thanks.
It has grown a bunch. Maybe in a new store update.
Hey I'm really confused between Bacopa monnieri(also called as moneywort) and Lysimachia nummularia (also called moneywort and creeping Jenny),i searched up a lot but I'm still confused why different place saying different things.
do they relly need fertilizer or co2 plz answer plz plz
They do need fertilizer, but don't require co2 injection.
+Aquarium Co-Op so they wont survive with out it.thank you for answering i just subbed to u
All plants need food and light. Without food they won't live long.
+Aquarium Co-Op ok my plan was to but potted one and put it in tank with pot in
What is the edible part of this plant?.
Everything seems to be edible,
I tried it out myself
do a store video some time man you cant just tease witb that opening those tanks look awsome
+TheNewbieShrimper 1 There are a few videos of my store on my channel. Most recent one is this one. th-cam.com/video/NO3tmjxe5sc/w-d-xo.html
How do I feed moneywort
Could you use creeping jenny in aquarium?
You can yes.
Can bacopa Carolina grow okay out of my tank it's very tall and out of my tank I want it to keep growing out of water but wanna know if the plant would survive
Yep, should do fine growing up and out of the tank.
When you mean out of the tank do you mean potted, or like with the stamps growing out of the tank cause I think I have a question similar to it and if it’s the first then it would answer my question too
should I be dosing extra fertilizer?
nah, I'd go maybe even a little lighter. With there being less leaves to catch the light, it'll utilize less fertilizer than normal.
wow Ide never thought of it like that, though it makes sense, thank you.
no problem :)
the entire time I couldn't stop looking at that angelfish. never seen an orange angelfish. would you happen to know the name?
Super Red Koi Angelfish.
nice
+Damion Markham Thank ya :)
Can moneywort grow in soil?
Sure.
@@AquariumCoop I just brought some moneywort and I planted them in soil but some of them were rotten.
@@binglim1940 same, how you fix that
you just floated it so it doesn't need to be planted then??
?? I came for information not an update on how your tank is doing
😎
So you can just float this
And Ramshorn snails don't eat it, or damage it.
I have moneyworth, but they’re not growing🥲.What fertilizer are you using?
