After 11 years of playing 6 strings I moved onto 7 and I loove it now that Im used to it. 8 is too low for my style but you’re playing is amazing my friend
7 is definitely perfect for me, but that slow doom on the 8 string is UNGODLY 6-7 strings isn’t really that big of a difference but 8 strings is like a whole new beast that I can’t tame
No offense but not really. It’s just that a 7 string gives more range and is usually brighter than a 6 string tuned to drop b depending on the string gauge
@@THEshaggyrogers I’m a seven string guy too, but if I compare it to drop D and D standard, drop D plays differently, same for a six in drop B vs a good ol 7
Hey mate! Thank you for your comment! I am also absolutely in love with that guitar! Great choice! Sound, playability and look are just killer! I am going to upload another video with just that guitar pretty soon! So if you like the content please consider subscribing :)
7 string sounds the best, nothing against 6 string, but 8 string is too low for my taste , but it sounds good in djent and breakdown. For chorus riffing if would be nice to have both six and eight string doing it an octave apart.
I came here because I thought about considering 8.. 8 is my favorite number after all.. but 7 is the perfect balance of low tone and clarity the 8th string is muddy and after all what's the bass guitar for? 💁🏾♂️
I've been playing a 6 string guitar for 17 years and now for the first time wanna step down to a 7 or 8 string but I don't know what would suit me best? I usually play in drop c with my 6-string, and I generally love to play both lead and rythm and the reason that I wish to upgrade to 7 or 8 is for the compositional possibilities, but would an 8 string be too much to carry around all the time? That's my worry basically, but at the same time I know that I basically has the possibilities of a 7 string + even more, so an 8 might be worth it? What would you choose?
I think that a 7 string will suit your needs best. IMO 8 strings make sense only if you play certain styles of music like djent or math rock. If you want to explore lower tuned riffs I'd go with a 7 string all day long. The good thing about 7 string is that you will get comfortable with it relatively quick and therefore will be able to play all your leads. On 8 string it can be really hard to get used to it
Great video! I liked the 6 string the best. Clean and focused sound, what else do you need? For everything else, you might as well just use a short-scale bass guitar IMO. lol
A tad bit tone for the 8 string and it wouldve sounded alot diffrent. Its really weird how some small tone changes can change a complete song and make it unique lol. Good work tho :)
For me, if we talk about riffs, anything lower than a standard is just farting guitar, so I will stick with 6 and 7. Only animal as leaders have done something (a lot) on 8 strings that is really worth the Pain .
Hey mate! Thanks for your comment once again :) I can totally get your point :) I mostly use the 6 & 7 as well for multiple reasons. I feel like they can be mixed pretty similar. With the 8 though you should really add more high frequencies to it, which I did not do for this video to make them all sound the same. I also feel like the 7 string is really a good mixture of tightness/definition and low end.
@@jackcafarella1062 you can do anything they do on a 6 string, maybe even a 1 or 2 string guitar would be enough, just downtune... Making a full use of a 8 string guitar means using all the range .
@@shoutrightnow there's a reason rob scallon made a song using every fret on every string, it's because almost no song uses all of the possible range completely. that would be stupid. plenty of meshuggah's songs use almost full range of the 8 strings - sections of bleed, lethargica and obzen use chords spanning the top five strings, plus lead parts that require the use of the remaining three strings. "just downtune" defeats the purpose of having extended range guitars as a whole - you can have a guitar capable of playing metallica and meshuggah all in one, rather than two guitars set up completely differently.
It's pretty rare to find a 7 or 8 string guitar 🎸 player who can play a 6 string guitar let alone all 3 when the notes are in a completely different order . My friend is a 7 string guitar player you hand him a 6 string guitar 🎸 he can't play it and gets irritated .
Hey! I am mainly playing 6 strings and recorded my first album with a 7 string last year. 7 string feels good finally after getting used to it and I'd say that I play it around 20% of the time. 8 string is not easy for me but I can work with that when I can prepare myself with one. I play much as a studio musician for a guitar demo company so I guess that I am used to play unknown instruments somehow. Anyway, all of them rule!

I love the 8's, but the 7 sounds so good here.
7 string easily takes the W
I like 6,7,8 string guitar, but the 7 string is the best from me. Sounds so good.
no fret wrap on the one guitar that needs it most yike
We shall agree, either a 6, 7 or 8 string, a breakdown is a breakdown

The double bass on the drums is INSANE!
Your footwork alone is worth the subscribe!
Great stuff my friend!
Drummer was on point great job guys👍
what about drop b (B,F#,B,E,G#,C#) vs an 7 string? That would be an interesting compare and contrast!

Best comparison for this yet no bullshit talking just straight to the point.
Great content, well performed with lots of information about the different guitar types. Well done!
Thank you so much mate! Hope to see you soon!
8 st string is amazing, thanks for the video

That's awesome dude! I think I'm gonna pick a 7 string fan fret for my first guitar.
In my opinion the 6 and 7 are where it’s at. I’m sure 8 has its utilities and it’s advocates.
Nice playin'. What double pedals you use for drumming? 🤩👍
slow doom on the 8 string was life it self amazing

I like 7 string
I need a 7 strings guitar now
It seems 7 stringed works better on both worlds. Lets destroy guys! 🤘🏽
7 and 8 string guitars are used to play Nü metal, Metalcore and even Deathcore.
the 8 string guitar gives a doom vibe
Good vidz. Comparaison Can be better with fluence pickups on the 8 strings ;) have it, and it's sound so fat
6: for sure!
7: maybe
8: whaaaat???
6 strings sharpness n more speedy gives me the kicks : D
What are the tunings on those 3 guitars
Standard tuning all the way
each guitar has its place and character depending on the style.
Those fishmans sound sweet are they the moderns or a different set.
You're awesome
saw you playing drums ALSO instantly subed...
I thought the same thing. It’s not him on drums lol

This is more about tuning and not so much about the difference in guitars. You can totally tune a 6 string down to F# with the right strings.
🤘😎😎🤘👋👋👋
Good job thank you
What kind of 6 string neck length do you need for all down tunings like a 60 string
7 string is the best.
What tuning was this e standard
Yes
8 string on Djent, 7 string on others

tone on the 8 string kinda sucked
7 for faster stuff
8 for slower stuff
6 for the oldies
8 string is way too much bass, 7 string is rlly heavy, and 6 is groovy
8srting is tooooo muddy
