Yohannes Brahms is essential to me, I could just live and breathe and listen to Brahms all day long and not get tired of it, and Leonard Bernstein is grand, such an emotional expressive face, puts everything into it, and the Vienna Philharmonic, what more can a man ask in this life except peace
I am watching the cherry blossoms in full bloom while listening to Brahms This is a blissful time for me Now in Tokyo the cherry blossoms are in full bloom everywhere
Bravo, Maestro Bernstein! Such glorious performances. Regarding the finale of Symphony #1: If I were a conductor, I would have done exactly as you at time sig 55:29-i.e., thrown my arms out as if getting hit with full force and glory of the sun!
Indeed. I’ve come to know, more than most conductors, Bernstein visibly emotes precisely how he expects the orchestra to emote in their playing, affecting the quality of the performance. It’s about relationship and intimacy. The audience are just bystanders at this point.
Stunningly beautiful flute section. Much love to the Vienna Phil, Brahms, and Bernstein. Magnificent.

Yes to everything you just said! Yes!
what a conductor Bernstein was!
I am in love with the principal oboe. As for Bernstein, his every move makes playing inevitable!

You've put me into an imaginary space (having lived in Japan for 10 years including 5 in Tokyo). Omedeto gozaimasu.
VPO made the peak of Bernstein's conducting career
New York was his group, but this is a dream pairing.

Both composer and conductor were excellent musicians. Brahms's 2nd Symphony is among my all times favorites.

Great performance.
A VERY GREAT PEFORMANCE OF BRAHMS !!!
Wow, what an opening to a concert!
Keep calm, and listen to Brahms.
The drop at 1:43:16 goes so unbelievably hard.
Aimez-vous Brahms?

If “young conductors” saw videos like this, they would understand that they need to go be garbage collectors.
