Was the decision to go carbs for WOT performance? $$$? I built a stroker M20 years ago using a turbo diesel crank. Every part in it was off the shelf parts. Except for the cam and header. I'm building an M20 using a M54 3.0l crank. This route I believe will surpass the stock is intake. Thoughts?
@@christopherjryan7968 the factory intake I've made 170+ rwkw with so it's not actually that bad at all, if the 325i intake was extrude honed and a 70mm throttle body fitted I'm sure 190+ rwkw is possible (300 crank hp) the cylinder head seems to be a bigger restriction than the intake. Ide make sure the head has a top class port job and then go from there ,
@@christopherjryan7968 the carbys were for simplicity and also Weber's seem to make a tad more WOT , once the motor goes back together it's going ITBS as I'm running an ECU and also it's having an 8hp45 on the back of it now, also it's going flex fuel so I can run e85 and 98 pulp
The alternator is a self exciting 70 amp unit I bought off eBay, the pulley is a custom one my friend makes and all I did was add a spacer underneath to make the mounting tab fit the factory mount, I used this alternator due to the internal fan as this motor will rev to 8200rpm so it's also a safety thing, it may be to small to power the car but will have to wait and see,
It's in the car and driving, but still tuning, there's videos of it running, 340-350hp is the target, too much done to write here , if you go back to my early videos I go through the combo, it's definitely a hamburger with the lot
Just amazing work men 😮 I notice that you delete oem water pump and thermostat housing, just give me a help Grooty in my case im making a stroke m20 too but can i delete thermostat housing but still continue with original water pump?
Yes deleted both, I wouldn't suggest deleting thermostat with STD pump as then there is no controlling the coolant flow/temp, you could run a in line thermostat, the thermostat blank we're running is "Leo Grande racing"

The headers are 800mm-900mm long 6into1 pipes I built, pipe size is 1 3/4" and flanges are some home made billet ones I made on the lathe that taper from port size out to primary size, there a tad large on the diameter but I didn't purge weld them so expecting some turbulence so the oversized pipes should balance that out hopefully, also hpc coated inside and out 💪💪💪

Hi. Sir Hello from Argentina. I have a question for your sir . I have an M20 engine and automatic transmission. I have plans to swap this engine and transmission into an e36 1993 . Many people say my engine is almost garbage to the e36 . Instead of that is all i have . I would appreciate your opinion. Thank you in advance.
@@Grooty79 thank you for your help. Perhaps I can make some reforms. And make it fit. What are your thoughts about it … is the only engine I have … and I praise god for that. But certainly is my only chance. For me is enough engine just because is for an easy going usage means take my parents to shopping and doctors and some other mostly city use . !thank you for your help!
@@Grooty79 in your opinion if a make it fit into. ¿Why you think the effort doesn’t value? Please let me know your thoughts. Is the only engine I have . I know is low HP and is old engine but for me is fine .

Beautiful. Can’t wait to see and hear this thing run.
Good stuff! Can’t wait to hear it roll!
Jo has been very patient while I take the time to build her car properly, I'm hoping it will start over the Christmas holidays
"I want what she's having" 😅
Pretty awesome seeing it all come together though 😊❤

Nice work! Can you give some more information on the alternator? This is not stock right? Brand, make, mounting? Thanks in advance!

What a mental bit of kit, love it! Whats the specs please, any idea what power she makes or not got that far yet?! 😍😍

Love all the detail on that engine! cannot wait to hear it. how high do you plan on revving it?
It's built to rev to 8500rpm but should make maximum power around 7800-8000rpm so I'll limit it 250rpm over maximum power production,
Coming along great - sorry if I missed it, but what are the header specs?

How did you do the water pump?
Crazy!
Thermostat delete is "Leo Grande Racing" water pump plate I made from a block of alloy

Issue you will have is the E36 requires a rear hump sump and M20 have front sump, you could make it fit but might not be worth the effort,
