Schwinn LOOP folding bike: REVIEW

  • I searched for a folding bike in my price range. My big concern was that I might be too heavy. It looked so small on Amazon. There was no place for me to try it out or to ask questions.
    So, I took the gamble and made the purchase.
    In this video I share my findings.

    Thank you for the demo. After cussing and fussing about what to do with the pedal for 20 minutes, I was glad to see you show how to fold it inward. 😀 I put my bike in the bag tire-side down because it was easier to sorta roll it in and shimmy the bag up around it. Still having a hard time though, because the handlebar fold is poking out of the top of the bag. But it's mostly in. Thanks again!

    I replaced the brake levers with larger/longer uniits and swapped Kool-Stop brake pads. A softer seat. White tires. The crank was changed to a 52T Lasco, Finally, I put in a different folding stem that had adjustable height, with a alloy handlebar. OK. I spent maybe an extra hundred bucks, but it's lighter, better braking, and easier to pedal. Being a bike junkie, I had the seat, crank, and levers in my spares box. Thing is, there are decent folding bikes for $300, but none were step-thru's so this was my candidate. Paid $224 for it in the winter of 2019 off ebay.

    After having my bikes stolen over and over, I'm in the market for a puzzling MC Escher bicycle to lock up. My logic is that the person will look for another bike before trying to figure out the "what in the world?" with mine. I can also lug it indoors in a particularly bad area. The one major thing I notice with the folding bikes I've looked at, is the lack of suspension. You have to replace the seats and even the post with something with suspension.
    Folding bikes are stiff rides.

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      👍 you are correct in your knowledge of a stiff ride. I have replaced the rear wheel because of broken spokes at 1000 miles and now at 1600 miles I have 4 broken spokes again. The frame is great but the wheel does not survive it weakest point of the whole bicycle.

    • @LaOwlett
      @LaOwlett ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mity_Moose I believe you can buy cushioned suspension tires to help soften the blows, maybe lose fewer spokes. Good luck!

    I had a schwinn loop before. As a daily rider things start to fall apart easliy. The rubber handles fall out, broke one of the brake noodles, the rear brakes don't align correctly which causes noise, seat is uncomfortable, the steering handle will twist overtime and you can barely fit this in back seat of your car. Only good thing is the brakes. Its very responsive and ive haven't any problems upon the frame bending.

    It's been a year, hopefully by now you realized those plastic protectors on either side of the wheels are for shipping, not for riding. I wouldn't use PB for lubrication either, didn't have any chainlube on hand? Even that would be better. I also hope you get way more than 1000 miles out of those tires. Appreciate the closer look, it's a neat little bike!

      thank you for replying! after half an hour (not an exaggeration) I figured it out. I unscrewed the tensioner thingy and reset it into place. it can get angled and rendered no good for purpose. also, depending on the tension, the lever draws back enough to where it is physically impossible to latch it. may have been stuck.. or too tight to begin with. all the levers are really tough for me to use. making it difficult to use for a work situation but I'm still thankful for not needing a bike rack for fun stuff!
