- Digitised from the original VHS tape way back in 2004 using a Panasonic S-VHS deck routed through a Canon MiniDV camcorder and then into an iMac. Created my DVD using iMovie and iDVD. In 2020 I finally got the DVD out and imported into MP4 format. Hope you like it.
Been a fan since 1987 when I saw the band as support for Bryan Adams in Newcastle City Hall. Their performance was just awesome.

Thankyou
It's hard to believe this is live ... those vocals are ON POINT.
and no auto-tune needed.
Saw the tour at rock city Nottingham around that time.the weekend after I saw them the gig was played on radio on a Sunday night.taped it and had it for tears.seen many on stage but she was so good
@@stuartsmyth6133 Yep, I was there too. Right at the front! Crazy.
@@moonchild666 was you the one shouting get your tits out lol
I saw them at the Card Hall in Dundee many Years ago and they were wonderful. One of those bands that had good songs and were able to perform live brilliantly but never managed to hold onto fame for some reason?!? ❤️❤️
I saw T'Pau supporting Bryan Adams in 1987 in Glasgow and was well impressed with how hard rocking they were. They had so.much more to offer than the big power ballad hit singles they'd had success with back then.
Hab sie als Verband von Bryan adams in München gesehen sie waren echt super hätten mehr Erfolg verdient
Listen People , She's one of the Best story tellers there is. Heart n' Soul is so true if you where ever in love. The music today can't compare to the 80's and 90's music . Thank you T'Pau !
Enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. They were a serious rockin' band!
I can't stop watching this. Carols live vocals are perfect.
She's good. I remember Heart and Soul well.
It really needs the haunting 2nd female part, though.
Fantastic was there at this concert if was electric i can still remember it so well love this band and her Fantastic voice. Me t her many years later when doing a smaller gig, that was also fantastic and so lovely to meet this beautiful lady. Thank you T pau for the wonderful music the last 30 odd years stil love it so much today. 😊😊😊❤
First time I saw T'Pau was when we went to CIty Hall in Newcastle to see Bryan Adams on his 'Into the Fire' tour. Had no idea who the support band would be, and as far as I know this was the opening night. I was with my brother and a couple of mates and we were all amazed at how good they were. You would have thought they were headlining. After a few songs, before starting the next song Carol belted out and pointed 'hey you at the back. You're late!' to Adams' fans who, like so many concert goers, like to miss the support band. That was a measure of the confidence and self-belief of T'Pau. After the gig my friend, on talking about Carol said, 'she's a bonny lass.' Now that's a great norther expression.
Oh if the modern "bands" were only half this good!
I feel lucky I have lived this era.
Christmas Day 1988 :) wore that tape out :)
10,000 views in 199 days since posting. Thanks for watching folks - I never believed I would get so many! Guess it's because T'Pau just won't fade away! They have been part of my life for almost 34 years! After all these years I love their music as much as ever.
Absolutely. You are so right.
Thank you very much for posting 👍
Of course T'Pau won't fade away, the same as the 80's will never fade away... 😉
Bridge of Spies is amazing live... The whole concert is amazing. I wish they wad put this on CD...
Whoever that bassist is, he's pretty good. I was very enjoyed listening to his basslines.
@@reggaefan2700 Paul Jackson. All were very good musicians. His bass tone when I saw him last in 1991 was just amazing.
Great post, I watched them on this tour. Fantastic live. What a singer Carol Decker is.
Awesome live performance. China was so good it you never wanted it to end.
This is Live??? OH my god she sang like an angel.. this is surreal
It's all nasal head-voice. For real female vocal skills, check out th-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/w-d-xo.html
The unmistakable voice of Carol Decker what a powerful voice, on par with Alison Moyet. Both excellent Female Vocalists. Thanks for Sharing.
alison moyet? not even the same category, only appropriate comparison would be another belter like terri nunn or the b52s singers
My goodness was Carol Decker ever so gorgeous!
And a lovely person :-)
Carol war schon sehr gut
Simply amazing I can never get enough of T'Pau- and the new song "Wonderful" is truly awesome!!
I was the only one I knew of in High School that listened to T'Pau. Had no idea. Then I find this video. How frickin' cool. Very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it
The good ole daze. Back when live music was LIVE music. I'm a life long musician and it's always easy to tell how many bands lip sync and use extensive backing tracks live these days. So when I can watch a band and see all of the very real, very live, NON-studio-recorded things going on... I LOVE IT! I've been gigging since 1985 and outside of playing along with a few symphonic sequences that we needed to properly do the songs (Nights In White Satin and Queensryche's "Silent Lucidity"), everything I've ever played in over 1K gigs was live. It may not sound perfect, but people want to see LIVE music. Anyways... this show kills.
I used to hear my little sister blasting this through the bedroom walls while I was trying to listen to John Peel on my tinny radio.
It wasn't punk and she pissed me off.
Now..
I understand.
Thanks, sis.
This show was clearly re-recorded. The vocals are totally overdubbed. Don't get me wrong, it's great and I love it but this was not a true live recording.
Great tight band, super confident performer with the big voice...just great.
Yes - Carol came across as in total control of the audience and performed as she if she owned the place. Loved it.
She could really belt out the vocals with amazing, consistent quality.
I started watching this and couldn't stop! T'Pau were a great band and this was an awesome concert to watch. I almost felt I'd transported back to the late 80's and was actually there watching!!!
Thanks for posting this. Heart and Soul was the first record I bought and I've loved T'Pau ever since. What an amazing performance
iam crying to go back !!!!!
I was there on the night and also the day after for the reshoot of the bits that didn't work on the night. The band were fantastic to those of us lucky enough to go to the video shoot. It ruins the continuity mind as everyone is in seats then there are random bits where there are about 50 of us standing by the stage!
Must have watched this a 100 times and never noticed that :)
bridge of spies is still a superb album
Gordon Bennett! What a gig man! Such a good line up! And how hot is Carol Decker in her iconic stripey mini skirt? I'm in love!!!!
Love her voice
Me too! 🎉 Girrll go!
I remember watching this concert on Channel 4 back either in the late 90's or very early 2000's whilst still in bed on a Sunday morning, I think it was. I admit I was never that much into Tau Pau but I still recorded it onto video and I'm so glad I did at the time. I was blown away how good their performance was and so I copied it on to cassette which I often listened to. Happy memories!
Back when singers actually sang LIVE.
My little 15 year old self went to this tour in Poole art centre. Such good memories... it was my first concert. I had this video on VHS i was such a tpau fangirl. Its as good as i remember. Thank you for uploading this.
I love this song. Brings back so many memories. First time seeing a live version. She sounds awesome!
Which song are you referring to?
Gotta say I'm just here for some good Ole nostalgia, but you guys are great.
The first concert I ever went to (not this venue but this tour). Was 13, myself and my friend pretended to our parents we were staying at each others house and caught a bus into town. I had put studs into the back of my leather jacket saying "Tpau" and thought the whole thing was amazing. Started off my concert "career" and i still probably do 20-30+ a year all over the Country. Loved it - and i had their posters (esp Ronnie) all over my bedroom wall. Great memories.
Thanks for your memories. First gigs (assuming they are good!) are very special.
Carol Decker is recovering from major surgery Sept. 1, 2023. She had to have her colon removed. Usually that's not a good sign. With much love, get well Carol.
I am thankful I was Alive for the 80's!!! Got Lucky. America was so Different!! Love to ya X Well Done you were the first to be the Last
I've always loved your music! Thank you.
I still have the Vhs tape. Oh my god! Thank you for the memories.
Oh wow, they sang the original album version of China in Your Hand! What a voice! What a privilege it was to grow up with these bands!
I've been to their concert in Utrecht, the Netherlands in March the same year! Awesome times!
Thanks for this upload, it's like reliving that concert :)
Surprising; they're both heavier and better live than in the studio. Highlight has got to be Valentine, especially chorus into guitar lead...that's a band hitting heights few others can. Flawless in every musical aspect
Thank you soooo much for sharing this! I'm having the time of my life watching this! T'pau were absolutely amazing and Carol is stunning! What a voice, what a woman!
I saw them supporting Bryan Adam’s at Wembley in ‘87. They remain the only band I’ve ever seen that played a song more than one at the same gig. Heart and Soul.
I saw them twice; once at the NEC on the Rage tour and then at Hammersmith Odeon on the Promise tour which had to be re-arranged because Carol had lost her voice. The original gig was called off with about 2 hrs notice and the re-arranged one was about a month or two later.
And that was one of the best live performances that I've seen at the Odeon by anyone. I think it was that line-up's last performance at the Odeon and they absolutely f**king nailed it.
A very very very capable live act back in the day.
I saw them on that tour too. Newcastle city hall. Presumably this must have been before she lost her voice as the gig I went to was not a rescheduled date. They were incredibly loud - the second loudest band I have ever seen (the loudest being Nazareth in 1981). Dean Howard's guitar on one solo was actually ludicrously loud. Man I miss those times.
@@tigershoot That sounds about right. The Hammersmith Odeon one was the last night of the tour if I remember rightly.
Isn't the Hammersmith Odeon now the Hammersmith Appolo?
I remember them when i first heard them on Top Of The Pops when they sung Heart And Soul.I liked them and always thought their music was great
What a fantastic voice and a fantastic band!!❤
I love this concert. Bought the VHS tape while stationed in England in 1988-89. Haven't been able to watch it since coming back to the US in 1990, despite having the tape for 30+ years. Thank you for uploading this show.
My pleasure. I actually cannot believe that it took so long. It was only when I moved a wardrobe last year that I found the DVD that I made back in 2004. It must have been lost for about two years, and before that I just kept it in a drawer. Apologies folks for taking so long to upload. I am pleased I did, and really pleased with the quality too - the sound is excellent.
It's been nice to see how successful it has been too as T'Pau deserve more credit for their work.
Thanks for sharing. I guess that T'Pau with Carol was Britain's answer to Pat Benatar at the time. Some great songwriting there.
Thanks so much for doing this. I've been a fan since their first album, and their music vividly brings back great memories of the late 80s. I think their music stands the test of time really well. If only pop music still sounded as good as this. And Carol can still sing these songs!
One of the best live concerts I ever saw, she belted it out like a good un 👍🏻
Yeah I was there myself at the Hammersmith Apollo, brilliant concert!!
@@davidwhite1003 Left this comment 2 years ago, I had forgotten all about it, thanks for bringing me back here for another watch, great concert 👍🏻
This was amazing- thanks for posting. I just came across it on a bit of a T’Pau binge because of the new single teaser. Great concert. Wish they had done a bit more from Rage, but that version of Valentine is awesome.
So excellent excellent Dankeschön
T'Pau is even Today one of the Best Pop Band....I would have loved to see her at a concert.
❤ I forgot how good she was and the band ❤🎉😊
Incredible
Thanks for this upload! Somewhere at my Mum's house I've got it on VHS (but recorded from when it was on TV..ad breaks and all..). Major flashback as soon as the intro notes start! Saw them live at The Sands Center in Carlisle as a teen one happy weeknight, what a gig !
Jeez, inspiring! I love it when she belts it out and then smiles. She knows it's dammed good! And the backing is perfect too, not really 'backing' but up front too.
She just oozed confidence.
Great memories of seeing tpau live many times❤
I saw this same tour at notts rock city.been there many times since but nothing compares.absolutely amazing for a live gig .not many good enough for this ..and still going on a scaled down scenario.and that man Garry Barlow said something about her but he would never be any we’re near in my opinion .just found this but had a tape for years as the radio played the rock city gig on the Sunday after they played.
thanks for the upload
Die Besten
Grazie tantissimo, è un concerto stupendo !
T pau waren live sehr gut hab sie in München gesehen ❤

Bridge of Spies my favorite song. Should have been released as a single. Heart and Soul should have been No 1. Way too quick out of the charts.
Terribly underrated. They should have been huge. Not promoted enough by record company. Always the story unfortunately.
Stimmt total unterschätzt super live Band ❤
one of the most underrated bands of all time........ ala Magnum !!!!
What a powerhouse !!!
Wow😍
Schönste Stimme der 80er
Funniy enough one of my favourites on this is "You never notice me". 32:00 What a fantastic chorus!
How did people know it? The only release I can see was of a live version on the single of Secret Garden which came out later than this. It might even be the recording of this performance actually.
@@adamriley5361 Well I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them in 1987 and I knew none of the songs. I was there to see Bryan Adams.
First time I've seen this in 30 years and I've got the same comment to make as the very first time. The editing is way over the top. A whole stream of half second edits. I find it almost unwatchable or very hard work at least.
Ronnie wearing INXS shirt?
I was a young soldier in the 101st Abn Division out of Ft Campbell, Ky in 87,88 and 89, cant remember what year it was but I believe it was 88 when I first heard T'Pau. Feeling like the indestructible soldier I believed I was, driving in my 86 toyota truck, windows down, (NO AC) I was listening to a radio station from Clarksville, Tn and they had "request hour". Some guy, another soldier I believe asked for "Heart And Soul", I'll never forget what he said as he requested it. He said, " no matter where I'm at, or what we're doing, when I hear Heart And Soul I know everything will be alright". Thats why I believe he was another soldier, sometimes a song could transport you away from whatever we had going on, I needed to hear that. To this day I love this song and it takes me back to a time when I was as wild as the wind and as strong as an oak tree and had endurance like that of an Olympic athlete. As soon as I hear the base line, I'm back in my 86 toyota, free as a bird, not a worry in the world with a lifetime ahead of me.
Thank you for the memories of gold.
Very interesting to hear. Being a UK band I always think it amazing that they initially broke in the US. I know what you mean about songs and their ability to transport you back in time. Music is a very powerful thing.
@@tigershootit is. I was in the desert in a fighting position and singing “straight up” by Paula Abdul one night.
I remember looking through my nods (night vision device) scanning for movement singing that song …quietly😅😅 but years later I realized I was singing even during moments that could’ve been my end, maybe I’m messed up somehow but I survived and still love music.
@@XRakkgruntX You can't be messed up - proof that you love T'Pau is evidence of that.
awesome concert, thanks for sharing
THANKS 4 This UpLOad i lost my tape of this gig years ago , brings it all back to me . That was a fun tour The Sound was from the tour , and the vid was shot at the Hammersmith Odeon in front of fans from there fan club . They spayed sugar and water on there faces to make them look like they were sweeting . Not seen it all but may have some other gig footage mixed into the vid .I have a feeling there were 2 live vids they did .Who knows it was a long time ago.
Thanks for uploading this was a great gig !!
Back in the summer of 1987 a good mate of mine Andre answered an ad in a music mag/paper for a lead guitarist wanted to join a newish band. We lived in Coventry at the time and bizarrely the audition was in a town just outside called Nuneaton, treacle town as it's known locally, once you're there you're stuck. After taking the piss he was gonna join a Nuneaton band of hillbillies, off we went. Anyhow, he got his 20 mins audition and was offered the job at the end of the day. He turned it down cos he told me the lead singer was real abrupt and quite rude to him and basically didn't think they would get on. Think he actually told em to poke it.
The band? Turned out to be T'pau, the lead singer Carol Decker and 5 months later they were No1 in the world 🤦🤦
Big, huge mistake!! Never forgave himself !
Wonder if Andre ever made it 🤔
True story.
Interesting. Not sure if Ron or Carol ever look at these comments but it would be funny if they remembered him.
This a brilliant, mind blowing performance by T'pau!! I was only disappointed that 'Only the Lonely' was not included in the set list. It's my favourite :))
that is music
wow. what a performance.
Valentine is a absolute masterpiece ❤
I was going to a concert at the Hammersmith Odeon except it was called the Hammersmith Apolo in 1991 to see David Hasselhoff being from Hull my mum and i had to get coach tickets to and from London,a hotel overnight, concert tickets and spending money,we got all that only to learn one week before the concert was due to happen that it was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.I was so devastated as i am a big Hasselhoff fan.
Luckily we managed to get refunds on everything,i know this has nothing to do with T'Pau but mentioning the Hammersmith Odeon reminded me of that time. However, great concert and thanks for posting.
It seems weird now how little we knew what was going on when it came to gigs. I went to loads and never even knew which dates were on the tour! The only way was to look on the back of the T shirts. If a gig were cancelled there was no way for the venue or promoter to contact the tickers holders at all. Sorry to hear you didn't get to see the Hoff.
I used to have this vid and loved watching. Thanks for posting
This is the politics of life, love, and truth, will never compromise. This track could be an anthem for the here and now.
Seen them 3 times in concert and they just got better and better carol and the boys are first class
Nunca tinha ouvido, grata surpressa !
I was at this concert - fabulous. Many years later, I saw T'Pau again in a small theatre for an Acoustic concert - wow, Carol can definitely sing live. That one was probably even better than this one, given that it was an acoustic set and relied heavily on her
I was there the day after. Still have the concert ticket stub. Also saw them again at Wembley Arena 2 years later. Were awesome!!
Band name originated from a Volcun elder from the series Star Trek. Was blown away by that.
Can't believe she sings this well LIVE !
I was going to a concert at the Apolo in 1991,i had the coach travel booked to and from home, the tickets and the hotel booked only to receive a phone call and notification through the fan club that the concert had been cancelled,it was to see David Hasselhoff and i was so heartbroken.
Wow
Ah, I was there for the filming of this! :)
In the audience or as part of the video production crew?
@@tigershoot Audience, I was the grand old age of 12 at the time lol
Great band! thanks for sharing!!
Wow , they were great live, gotta be top 5 ever female singers.
Pity this isn't available on DVD
Loved China in your hand. Sounded better than the recorded version!
Great show
just great !!
I bought the video many years ago just for you never notice me
