    Hello again Chris. I have another question concerning the speaking part. Does using very formal language affect our band score positively or negatively? Thanks in advance.

    • @Ieltsadvantage
      @Ieltsadvantage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi there, the IELTS Speaking test is supposed to represent a normal conversation between two people and you should therefore not use overly formal language. You can’t use slang or anything too informal either, just plain spoken English. Here is an article to guide you further in using formal and informal language in IELTS Speaking: www.ieltsadvantage.com/2015/07/03/ielts-speaking-formal-or-informal/

    Hello, Chris. I have 2 questions.
    Regarding the writing part of IELTS, can we use the conjunction 'but'?
    Also, do we have to make all of our sentences complex in order to get band 7 or higher?

    • @Ieltsadvantage
      @Ieltsadvantage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, yes you can use the conjunction "but." Meanwhile, you do NOT have to write all complex sentences, and in fact, it's better for you to display an ability to employ a range of grammatical structures, including simple sentences. Hope this helps. If you have further questions or need our team of IELTS teachers to guide you through your IELTS preparation, please email us at chris@ieltsadvantage.com.

    Hello Chris, again I have some questions about the writing section.
    Over using cohesive devices are bad right? So, how can I know where to stop? For example, out of every 10 sentences how many do you suggest to use?
    And what do you think about using semicolons? Are they ok to use? If ok, is using them beneficial?
    Finally, I wanted to know about your thoughts on the conjunction "for". What do you think of it? Can using it be more advantagous than using "because"?

    • @Ieltsadvantage
      @Ieltsadvantage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, please see answers below:
      1. You should only use cohesive devices when it's appropriate and necessary to show relationships between essay elements/sentences/ideas.
      2. It's fine to use semicolons, but it's equally important to be able to use them accurately and appropriately.
      3. It's "fine" to use "for" as a conjunction, as it can help you to avoid over-using "because." However, using it alone won't necessarily be more advantageous, no.
      Hope this helps. If you have further questions or need our team of IELTS teachers to guide you through your IELTS preparation, please email us at chris@ieltsadvantage.com.

    Hello everyone, I would like to share with u something. Right now I am really desperate and feel miserable 😭 because I scored only 9/40, I can’t understand how and why. Other sections I did well at least 30 but reading is the most complicated at the moment. I am a reader person I’m keen on reading but when I started to practice IELTS I recognised that I am unable to read one text properly 😢 hence, I suddenly open this video and take valuable information. After this video I realised many things and I should be master of strategies all types of questions. And I would stop to use practice test.
    Thanks so much and I work immediately take notice all of this information. Maybe you don’t believe me but you are extremely help me and see my mistakes on the other side. I hope 🤞 I will pass reading section on the best score💙🙏 I don’t give up and keep working.

    Question: without capital punishment (the death penalty) our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to control violence in society.
    To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
    Introduction paragraph:
    we are not enough secured without death sentence in the system, and an increase in violent activities is obvious if the death penalty is absent. Therefore, eliminating dangerous criminals is necessary. This essay agrees with this because some criminals are not able to live a legitimate life and capital punishment prevents serious crimes in future.
    Can you evaluate my writing and suggest this paragraph could be Improved?
