THIS was the first single we all got to hear after 13 tool-free years. This was a huge moment for us. And unlike when we all first heard Enter Sandman, we all knew this was, indeed, the Tool we grew up with. Just more polished.
First time I heard this the day it dropped I was walking down the street with my earbuds and was totally Blown Away. I remember my eyes welling up with pride. It was as if I found a river after traversing the desert for 13 years
If you want just a minor insight into Maynard's absurd attention to detail and how intentional he is with things..... He says the word "mitosis" at exactly 5:11 of a 10:22 length song. Mitosis is a cell splitting in half. He says it at the exact halfway point of the song. No way that's coincidence. I can't even imagine all of the other stuff like this in his catalogue that I'm not just informed enough on to even notice.
You should watch the tool archive videos on TH-cam about the alchemy connections and hidden meanings and goodies like this mitosis fact. In the middle of descending the band is playing time signatures that can be broken down into a representation of PI and Maynard says “infinite”. Also not a coincidence. It’s also the exact halfway point of the album. There’s so much fun stuff in that tool archive video to learn about this.
@AysunK I'm not 100% sure this is the same vid OP mentioned but I'm pretty sure this video touches on a lot of the hidden meanings throughout the album th-cam.com/video/4pVk6zMpoTU/w-d-xo.html
Vividly remember - 5 AM west coast time - downloading this the instant it came out. Then played it on repeat for my 1.5 hour commute. Was so nice to hear new Tool after the 13 year drought ......
Love all of your reaction videos since I discovered this channel. The Tool ones are far and away my favorites though. I am 60 and have loved Tool music since the very beginning. The absolute best band IMHO! Thank you again and keep them coming!
I don't know what you consider an old fart lol I'm 52 been listening to tool since day one and still love them seen them in concert two times in two times as a perfect circle haven't seen puscifer yet but I just finished listening to salaival tonight that one's got so expensive I don't play it much so it was nice to hear it again
@@jeffhelton3364 OP obviously isn't talking about people like us who love the track. Look at the online community though and it's not hard to find a lot of knuckleheads whining about how this album supposedly sucks. Damn near every song gives me chills and I feel sorry for them missing out on this greatness.
The first time I listened to this song I felt like they were luring you into it with enchantment or trans and the incredibly clean soft voice of Maynard and before you realize the storm is coming and you are caught in it, getting thrown from one side to the other and the you are suddenly at the other end and you think what the hell just happened? I had a phase of a few weeks of listening to this song only on repeat - my son still roll his eyes about it.
I vividly remember the night this album dropped, and how hard I cried. This album is a masterpiece, and it gets better every single time I hear it. This is the maturation of all their previous work.
Wasn’t blown away when I first heard this one. Liked it, but after 13 years, was hoping for a little more. I then saw them open with this song live, and it completely changed my perspective. One of the more impressive songs they played.
I’m a die hard fan and this album took some time for me. At first I was kinda on the fence, but after a few years and seeing them live last year, it’s really been growing on me. When they get to play it how they “want it to be presented” live, it really clicked for me. FI was the opening song and the light show was perfect, you really get to feel how the song builds live, Descending was putting me in a trance, Chocolate Chip Trip was fucking nuts with multiple camera views being broadcasted on stage spiraling, Culling Voices was wholesome as shit seeing them sitting together like an awkward family as gold confetti was raining from the roof of the arena, and the breakdown on Invincible was such a great release, I was in fucking tears. It sounds cliche but I really think each album is a “mood” for me. 10,000 days when I need heavy emotional tool immediately, Lateralus when I’m in a manic thinking phase, Opiate/Undertow when I need a boost doing some shit around the house, Aenima on any intense activity or manual labor, and FI when I feel the need to slow down and ask those “big questions about life” especially on long drives. FI is that introspective melancholy mood for me, the lyrics resonate with me the most for sure.
I have been listening to Tool since Undertow and this song became my favorite Tool song easily when it was released. Their music has just continued to elevate over time.
You've become a great fan of rock, hard rock, alternative/progressive rock, and heavy metal. You've mentioned many times that Tool is your favorite band and you listen to them all the time, especially when driving your 4-Runner. I'm wondering...have you introduced the music to any of your friends? And, how do they feel about it?
POLO REACTS each Tool album is better than the last. And still somehow, Sweat from Opiate album is still my fav Tool song, far and away. It's short but, gives hints of everything they've grown into
That opening fade in is Adam and Justin fading in the same notes. Justin is fading in slightly behind Adam, creating that echo sound, mimicking the sound of a cello being strummed. It is absolute genius.
First off, love your reactions to Tool. One thing, the music volume in this video is pretty low. Even cranked all the way with headphones it’s pretty quiet. Probably just me being a crazy tool fan but I need it LOUD!
Damn Bruh this track is probably crackin your sound system haha As so many other tool songs, this is also a grower and gets better every time you hear it
Couldn't take the low volume it was literally giving me an anxiety attack because I need Tool louder!! So I just ffwd it to your end comments, such a shame I could not enjoy the song (which of course I have heard before) along with you this time.
So Oct. 15 2019 was the starting date of Tools Fear Inoculum tour and opened with Fear Inoculum … they had a expanded sound system in the arena that had the drums and backing vocals just ring around … it was intoxicating and the crowd was mesmerized… pure shock and joy as every left the arena that night This album makes long drives thru the mountains feel like a blissful time warp … just saying😊💉
I appreciate you stepping out of your comfort zone. You're doing a great job. I've been waiting for you to get to this one. I also thought of Andrea Bocelli and you did it in the same day. Super cool range. Cheers.
This song dropped the day I had the worst stomach virus of my life, was delirious with fever and soaked with sweat through my clothes. Man did this song suit the vibe I was in at that very moment.
Right around the time this song dropped, there was a hurricane or tropical storm and my power went out.. I still had full juice on my phone and my Bluetooth stereo. I blasted this song on my back porch while the winds and rain were blowing. All night I played this album
Went to concerts back in the day. Have had the same people complain it isnt old Tool. Well people grow, evolve, also I tried to point out if you hear, alot of people don't, there is old Tool alive and well in the sounds. It is there. Maynard isn't himself on this and I think that is what old fans are pissed off about. The music is amazing, I can understand people saying that Maynard has spent 13 years in APC and lusifer with a vagina.
Fear Inoculum and Descending are my favorites from this album. If I may suggest some other bands to react to I’d suggest Haken, Caligula’s Horse, Leprous, and Soen.
I’m still waiting for the day you listen to the album version of Pneuma. You did Danny’s live drum feed video, which is amazing, but as much as you get into the individual audio tracks and parts, Pneuma is gonna unseat Descending as your favorite.
Kinda interesting. This album so long overdue . Was released late 2019 just before World wide pandemic. I got to see them in concert before world wide shut down. On another note. The last concert I went to was Andre Bocceli in Feb 2020. So the song Time To Say Goodbye was poignant
I remember when this record came out a lot of ogt guys weren't into it much 😂 One of my friends who didn't like it (at first, at least) told me it didn't have enough Maynard. Idk what other people didn't like but I thought everyone had a good spot on it. Glad more people seem to be getting it.
Such an awesome intro to the song and album. Wow, kudos on making these videos polo, I actually look forward to them, especially tool. You're genuine and it's fun watching your surprise at parts I think are interesting too. Do yourself a favor and heck out Tool/Jambi soon.

Couldn't agree more
First one i had from the album was a live version of invincible without the guitar solo :D
I remember that night like it was yesterday. Laying on the couch with headphones.
I quit listen to Metallica after Injustice for all
First time I heard this the day it dropped I was walking down the street with my earbuds and was totally Blown Away. I remember my eyes welling up with pride. It was as if I found a river after traversing the desert for 13 years

Glad you liked this one. I don’t think it gets nearly the love it deserves. I love that they open shows with it recently
And that attention to detail is why it takes them 13 years to put out a new album 😂

I cried like a baby when I heard this for the first time.... waiting so so so many years for a new song
Vividly remember - 5 AM west coast time - downloading this the instant it came out. Then played it on repeat for my 1.5 hour commute. Was so nice to hear new Tool after the 13 year drought ......
Same!!! San Diego County. Walked on sidewalk then hit repeat while commuting on a train
Seeing them perform this song live, in particular, was transcending.
Most impressive song they played. Almost as if it was created specifically for live performance.
It was a perfect way to start the show
I felt this in my chest live!
If you haven't done it yet, do Eulogy by Tool. It's incredible!
Danny Carey's drum fills are so damn clean ... he drums like an eight-armed octopus.
The infamous "Four-Runner" stamp of approval. 👍🏽🔥😁
Love all of your reaction videos since I discovered this channel. The Tool ones are far and away my favorites though. I am 60 and have loved Tool music since the very beginning. The absolute best band IMHO! Thank you again and keep them coming!
Amazing how some old fans don't really like Fear Innoculum. It keeps getting better as usual. For me it started at bad ass.
Tool continues to evolve. Some fans do not.
The fans that don't like FI are clowns. This album is top tier work from them (but I mean... So is basically all of their discog, so...)
Yeah , I'm 55 and also day one. Don't speak for us all if you don't mind. Just spiral

I don't think Polo's checked out "Eulogy" yet.
A must listen!!
And the patient
@@ChakLok be Patient
How did Eulogy became a Tool deep cut? Just crazy.
@@heyskipj I think, even though he loves Tool, he's been doing a lot of paid requests, so...kind of scattershot.
That was awesome even if the audio was low. ✌️
So annoying but yah

Yes! Saw the Fear Inoculum tour in early 2022 and Maynard's voice was incredible!
Bless this community
had this song constantly in my head while the COVID lockdowns were going on. how interesting this came out before then; Maynard the prophet?

I heard this live in concert. It was an experience
Your 4Runner would love to hear "Jambi"!
I have been listening to Tool since Undertow and this song became my favorite Tool song easily when it was released. Their music has just continued to elevate over time.
I’ve seen this song live four times as the show opener it’s so fun to watch the pieces fall perfectly in place.
Their music is CINEMATIC

Great vid once again, love your Tool content.
Listened to this song for the first time on my skateboard. It was beautiful
Tool's You Lied cover on Salival will give you permanent stank face
Their prescience is astounding, this came out just before the Voldemort bug (which shall not be named) that was (is still) going about.
After not hearing a new Tool song for 13 years... we got this, and I was fucking ecstatic
I've been trying to get you to listen to this. A true masterpiece
Another great reaction but please keep the volume up louder for the music so we can enjoy it with you. Thanks!
Love it☮️💜✨ so happy when you said, "can't wait to listen to it in the 4runner," loud ✨
