Corrie will never be the same. I've watched since Anne started on CS. She was wonderful in her role as Dierdre, so funny and tender and loving. That wonderful voice will never be forgotten. RIP dear Anne.
It has been nearly 10 years since the character of Deirdre Barlow was killed off in Coronation Street and truthfully the show has not been the same without her since nor the actress Anne Kirkbride who played her and it never ever will be the same again
She is right up there with Kathryn Hays (As The World Turns) and Victoria Wyndham (Another World) as one of the most Iconic Soap Opera Actresses of all time. Her and Gail hold a special part in Fans Hearts because she pretty much grew up on The Street.
Tried to watch Corrie since but could not. It just does not work without her in it. I know it is only a TV show but she made it seem real. I miss her already

It kind of reminds me of when in 2009 when Guiding Light went off the air and when the Cast Members went on Stage for the last time, The Audience from other Soaps from The Young & The Restless, The Bold & The Beautiful, and others gave a Standing Ovation. Guiding Light was the prototype for every future Soap Opera since it was the Show that Bill Bell worked on before he created The Young & The Restless in 1973 and Co-Created Another World in 1964. Even if you didn't work on Guiding Light, you may have worked with a Soap Actor/Actress or even a Writer from Guiding Light.

bobbbxxx On US Soil when a Soap Character dies in Real Life, they have to get Permission from The Family to do a Funeral Storyline. Sadly enough it doesn't happen right away. When Michael Zaslow (Ex-Roger Thorpe) Guiding Light died of Lou Gerig's Disease, they had to wait to do a Tribute to him.
Did I miss it? I didn't see them announce Dierdre's death or do anything regarding a funeral or whatever. It just seemed to me that they mentioned her less and less until they stopped mentioning Dierdre altogether. Did I really miss something?
When people pass away their memories go with them ands contribute to a fast developing world destined to achieve Real Democracy by sharing world resources and wealth, which will remove poverty and decrease prison inmate numbers progreivly as children are monitored from birth to 16 years of age for abuse, incest and other antisocial problems found within family Units.
