  • An overnighter ride across Eryri / Snowdonia using CyclingUK route “Traws Eryri” from Machynlleth to Conwy. Stunning views and lots of climbing at 196km and 4300m elevation gain.
The weather was a bit challenging yet still better than what could've been in Wales in the end of December. We were planning to camp initially, but with everything being soaking wet we opted for a BnB roughly in the middle of the route in Llan Ffestiniog.
On the first day we took a train from Shrewsbury and started cycling from Machynnleth at 11am finishing at 9pm with one long stop in a pub in Trawsfynydd. On the second day we had breakfast in BnB, were on the route at around 9am and finished right after sunset at 5pm.
The route is a nice mixture of fast forestry tracks, quiet lanes and double-tracks across farms and hills. There's a bit of hike-a-bike right after Trawsfynydd on the grass as it was too wet to ride and across the bog on the last hill right before the finish.
