    Many people reviewing the LC in America and elsewhere don’t actually bring it off-road and showcase what it really is capable of. This video distinguishes itself in this respect. Bravo!

      Yeah but in their defense it’s a $90k vehicle. I’m a Toyota fan for life but the 4runner and Tacoma are kicking the crap out of the Landcruiser for a reason. I really hope in coming years they can remake the LC as a cheap, under $25k off roader with bare bones tech but still bulletproof Toyota reliability

    You have the best car reviews on the internet. Informative, no stupid cut scenes or crappy music. Just excellent views of a vehicle doing its thing.
    This is my dream vehicle. But I have a 2020 4Runner TRD Off Road and if I am honest, it is hard to justify the Landcruiser when you spec out a 4Runner properly. Both are made in Japan, both can be had with all the off road kit, both have bulletproof powertrains. But the 4Runner has better payload, angles, aftermarket support and is more economical to operate.
    That being said, I still want a Landcruiser😂

    • @rightlanehog3151

      @@rightlanehog3151 Tacomas are fantastic trucks. I think Toyota realizes that bringing in a lower trim Landcruiser would cannablize Sequoia sales and I bet their profit margin is higher on Sequoias.

    • @rightlanehog3151
      @rightlanehog3151 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewputnam7486 Since you mentioned Sequoia, we have to ask whether the next Sequoia will move closer in design and capability to the biggest Land Cruiser. As things stand, Toyota sells about 1,000 Sequoias per month and probably 10-15 times that number of Land Cruiser 200s per month around the world. They have stated that Sequoia production is moving to the Texas Tundra plant as the Tacoma exits for Mexico. Is it worth the money and effort to design and engineer another North America-focused Sequoia that is substantially different from the big LC? What will become of all the production capacity left where Tacomas once filled the factory floor? It is not implausible to imagine 4Runners being built in Texas. Does Toyota think the new Tundra will have double the appeal of the current model that sells around 100K per year? Hard facts are difficult to come by for the next generation of TMC 4X4s but I guess we will have all the answers in 12-24 months.

    Thank you for the review. I just bought one and live in the northeast and will primarily use its capability for snow driving. I must point out one error that many many of these reviews make. At 9:10 you talk about "sport" mode and having to manually shift. That is not what that is. It is simply referred to as S mode and all it does it set an upper gear for the transmission. If you put it on 4 it will only allow the transmission to shift up to 4th gear. It is not a sport mode or manual shifter. Otherwise a great and informative review. Many reviewers make that mistake. It doesn't hurt the quality of your video or content. Thanks.

    Used to have a UK LC Colorado, as it was known here, with the 3L diesel, so nothing like the power of this engine. However, it never let me down, and nothing could stop it. I live on the side of a mountain in Scotland, and part of the track that comes up to our house is just straight up the hill, 1:4 slope; we have had it with an inch of ice and 2" of snow on top on that steep slope (Michelin Latitude Alpin tyres), and it could handle it no problem. It was an older version, without the fancy electronics, but had centre and rear diff locks. Coming down you just put it in low-range 1st, locked up all the diffs, took your feet off the pedals, and it was go down sweet as a nut at a walking pace. Going up, low-range, diff locks, some momentum, and you always knew that it would recover from any slide and pick it back up again. I miss that truck.

Some reviewers have complained about how old many of the features are, but the thing is that they all work flawlessly, and that is the point. There just is not as much to go wrong. The only things I have added are rock sliders, front, engine, and transfer case skid plates and BFG K2’s. I have not found a trail it can’t handle. I’m sure they are out there, but I’m not trying to climb cliff faces either. Based on what I have seen, I’m really not that sad that the 300 did not come to the US. Impressive snow performance! I have MTS on my 4Runner, always thought it was basically a gimmick. I'll have to give it a try next time I get out in the snow.
    Also, it's a shame that Toyota doesn't equip the Heritage model with a slightly better tire. That would be terrific if it came stock with a set of KO2's.

    • @solooverland3666
      @solooverland3666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MTS is most definitely NOT a gimmick. And people that drop $100k of this off-road king don’t mind KO2s for $1100.

    Ryan, Land Cruiser sales have doubled in recent months, it looks like Toyota might be 'doing another FJ' with their decision to discontinue this model in the USA. In terms of pricing, I believe you could buy a SR5 Sequoia and SR5 4Runner for about the same price as this L.C.

    • @andyham6094
      @andyham6094 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Haha yeah you could. The LC is one of a kind and very special but I have a 2018 sr5 4runner with a 2 and a half inch lift and 33 inch tires and man it’s very capable, it’s taken me everywhere I’ve tried to go. It doesn’t have lockers but the ATRAC system is absolutely amazing and serves the same kind of purpose.

      @@andyham6094 been saying that about my 2012 sr5 4runner for years,,see everyone lately buying trd models for rear lockers when a sr5 will take you just about anywhere a trd pro can go with decent tires and 2" lift

    • @rightlanehog3151
      @rightlanehog3151 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@andyham6094 Toyota's SR5s are highly capable, highly reliable and simply the best DEAL in the 4X4 market. Having said that, the locking rear diff should at least be an option across the board. When you think about it, how much would it actually cost Toyota to install a locking diff at the factory on every 4Runner, Tacoma, Sequoia , Tundra etc if they made it standard equipment? My ball park guess is $500 or less.

    • @ATeam4204
      @ATeam4204 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The SR5 is a fantastic trim with a great value. The LC just takes Toyota's reliability and overbuilt nature to the nth degree. What is missing from the value conversation is resale.... especially when a model is killed. Think FJ prices are crazy? Imagine an LC Heritage in 3-5 yrs. The LC is Toyota's flagship...buy one if you can get it.

    • @rightlanehog3151
      @rightlanehog3151 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ATeam4204 To be fair, at this time it is unclear if Toyota is removing the Land Cruiser from the US market on a permanent or temporary basis. The current sales surge may have the accountants recalculating the corporate position. Going forward, a more basic Land Cruiser that does not duplicate the luxury of the Lexus LX might be logical but what does logic have to do with the car industry? Much more modestly equipped LC 200s are currently sold for prices in the range of $50-60,000 in other markets, could we get them too? The other big question is the design and capability of the next Sequoia. Will Toyota duplicate their past practice of offering a distinctly different design for the low-volume Sequoia or will it merge more closely with the next full size Land Cruiser? In the weird and wonderful world of Toyota 4X4s, we have plenty to debate, ponder, anticipate and discover over the next year or two.

    As far as this category goes I went with Infiniti qx80 sensory trim. Has 400 hp, awd and 4HI 4LOW options, snow, tow, TC. Also slapshift manual or full time automatic 7 speed. 7 speed manual is really cool. U can start off in manual and shift sideways to go to automatic. I could watch endless hours of SUV tests. #id love to see more off road videos of QX 80. Just went thru a washed out sand road in 4 low, easy. By the way flooring it at 25 mph, in first throws ya body back.
