    My sister and brother in law got 400k out of their 1998 LC before selling it last summer. They also live in the sierras and to say it wasn’t babied is an understatement. The motor was still Lexus smooth, super impressive. Original exhaust system. Food for thought, our Durango SRT can get 20+ on the highway if you keep it below 80. Does the Durango feel like it could do 400k? Maybe but can’t imagine what type of maintenance it would need to get there.

    It's not just Toyota's V8s that are indestructible, it's basically their whole engine line-up since the 1990s! My dad had an old Toyota hatchback which had covered over 300000 miles when we sold it and emigrated (it was then 28 years old) and it was still running really well, despite a cambelt failure years before. The only thing that will stop a Toyota is a direct hit from an ICBM.

    Have a tundra with the same v8 but 6 speed. Im not sure about the LC's gear ratios, but the tundra is 4.30. We used to tow 8000-8500 lb camper through the mountains with no trouble. When towing, it was not the power that was the issue, but the payload of the truck. Though this could have been fixed with helper springs or airbags. It really was not bad though and it is a great truck

    Hmm... I just realized in the US you only got the 5.7 liter V8. In Europe we never got that engine, we only got a 4.6 V8 gasoline and 4.5 V8 diesel. The 5.7 must be nicer than what we got.

  • @bengaltiger96
    @bengaltiger96 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What's missing in the Yank version is the 4.5 liter turbo diesel V8 you get in other markets, like Australia. In a place that has more speed cameras than kangaroos, all you need is enough get up and go to keep up, and the diesel version does that admirably. It also works well on the minesite.

    Cool car, but expensive. I feel like there's other luxury suvs you could get with more stuff for cheaper. GV70 and GV80 and Durango srt are what comes to mind first.

    Honestly, 90k isn't terrible for what the Land Cruiser is. Toyotas, even prior to 2020, were kinda pricey. I'd have said somewhere in the 110k range.
