BBC Radio 2’ ‘melodies for you’ theme for MANY years. I half expect to hear Richard Baker’s voice come in when it finishes. Many a Sunday morning spent listening to this in my childhood. Mum and Dad would cook the dinner and me and my brother and Sisters would do our homework or play board games at the dining room table whilst it was on. Good simple days.

You should the try the Kleiber version here: th-cam.com/video/O-6uqwANpyw/w-d-xo.html. His tempi in the 3rd and 4th movements give me goosebumps! Especially the 4th. Kleiber's version comes closer to ". . .the apotheosis of the dance . . ." that Wagner described this symphony as then any other version I've heard.
