i wanted to take a completly different style guitar (humbuckers) and compare to my single coil fender to show you guys how much tone actually comes from the fingers hope you enjoy it=)
You are comparing a dual humbucker guitar in the middle position to one with single coils and playing single coil lines, expecting single coil tones. Also, the Strat is probably set up with the tremolo on the body with more spring tension. You can totally bend a whole step on the Ibanez if you set the tremolo the same as your Strat.
Exactly , to prove the point if the tone is in the fingers, thats why i took completly different type of guitars with huge gap in price, that was point of of the video bud) thx for the tip
This is a $15 guitar in the sense that it's how much your friend sold it to you for... but it's actually an Ibanez guitar that doesn't say "Gio" on the headstock (their entry/beginner line), so it's definitely worth somewhere in the ballpark of $600-$800 (brand new, at least). This means that the hardware and material quality is far better than what one would get in an *actual* $15 guitar. The closest thing you could've gotten for a more accurate comparison of 'cheap vs expensive' would have been one of those $99 beginner guitars from Amazon or something of that sort. Also, to answer the question of whether tone is in the fingers, variables like the pickup configuration of each guitar needs to be consistent. This is because single coils will *always* sound vastly different from humbuckers no matter the respective price point.
hey, i agree with you, but i wanted to compare completly different type of guitars with different price points to see if i would still sound simular, and this was my attempt im not comparing the guitars but my fingers on the guitars really, as far as price he said he paid 100 bux like 12 years ago and hasnt played since, so idk, i havnt had any other guitar then one im holding so im not well knowledged in ibenez, but i hope you enjoyed the vid
There is nothing to compare the sound of singles to humbuckers, especially ceramic to Alnico V, which you have in Fender. What puzzles me is what you said about bending string up, etc. From my 30 years of experience, I know that the shape of the neck (Wizzard in Ibanez, C in Fender), the radius of the fretboard and the placement of the hand impact playing a particular instrument. All my guitars have a C neck shape, so changing between them does not require a radical change in playing technique. You don't mention this in your video; it significantly impacts the sound and is called Tone in your Fingers. Cheap guitars are great for beginners and semi-pro players.
Nice video ! I think the tone comes from the fingers when the guitar is set up. I mean of course maybe a guitar wich is more expensive keeps you motivated/inspired in some kind of way. But tone wise I would definitely say it’s in the hands.

You will hear. Your audience won't. You can buy 100 cheap guitars for 1 Fender 🙂
yes but none of them wont do what one fender will so whats the point of having all the guitars?
