I bought my John Deere LA 130 48 inch cut riding mower in 2007 from Lowe's. $1999.00. I had purchased a house with more yard. With many trees and a down hill back yard. The 21 horse 48 inch cut came in handy with tall grass and dry leaves in the fall. I have been using this riding lawnmower for 13 years and a few months. A few of the plastic connectors have broken. One would only let the motor turn over. But, wouldn't run. Watched a video on TH-cam. Put a jumper wire on connector. Runs like a champ. Buy the oil change and tuneup kit every two years. Change the oil every year before spring start up. Add a couple ounces of liquid small engine cleaner to my gas can with fresh gas. The tune up kit comes with a new fuel filter, sparkplugs and air filters too. It still has the original drive belts. Yes, The tires get flat every once in a a while. Keep it greased up and blow out the grass that builds up on top of the mower deck. The biggest issue is the steering gear gets worn down. Just use a paint brush with grease on it. To grease the gear every year. It still is holding up. Hope this helps riding lawn mowers owners out there. Shawn.
This exact model was given to me last summer, used it for the last few months of the year and tucked it away for the winter. I was almost going to pay someone to give it a tune up but watching this video and realizing the price for the materials I'd need is about $60 I think I'll give it a try myself. I appreciate the step by step approach.
