In the video at 8:27 where I use the blower is VERY important, this will also cause the clutch / brake to not fully engage the drive belt due to the grass and dirt build up.
I am helping my grandson fix his MURRAY RIDING LAWN MOWER MODEL#40620C DATE OF MAN 2950.HE NEEDS FRONT WHEEL BUSHINGS.CAN YOU GIVE ME A PART NUMBER SO I CAN GET SOME.THANKS
Google the model number You can find exploded view drawings / diagrams that will break out parts / numbers. From there you can Google parts to get whatever you need
This is EXACTLY what mine is doing. Thanks for the tips and how to fix. I’ll let you know how this turn out. It’s super dry here and was mostly mulching leafs. About half finished when my mower started having a lack of climbing power. Looking at the crap that was collecting on my deck, there’s no doubt the same hay bail of lawn crap is up and round the drive belt. Now I have a mission. Thanks for the video and the how to.
Shucks I thought you were going to say that you just drive down hill all the time. I'll you that lift makes thing soooo much easier. Thanks for the routing and camera work on the belt replacement. Great job. Thanks for the videos.
This man is a pro. Just 30 minutes of digging out caked on dirt at the braking mechanisms, as shown, fixed the problem my good buddy had been struggling with.
Great video! I went and bought a Big Red chain hoist for $50, ordered a replacement belt for $18, and installed it this afternoon. Much better than crawling under a dirty old mower to struggle with the belt replacement. Saved a ton of money doing the repair myself (with your guidance) AND walked away with a new tool. Blew the mower out with my compressor. Only problem now is when I take my foot off the brake, the darn thing wheelies! Raced it up a couple of hills and it's like the mower has been reborn. THANK YOU!
Every mower/ lawn tractor i have I replace thows plastic tensioner with steel ones and never look back haha good video shure this has helped many homeowners
Ok, where are you? I'm bring my older Craftsman riding mower to your house to replace my drive belt. It comes of trans pulley, and I have to remove battery and case. Then, fight with fan to reseat on the trans pulley. I'm only a 5ft 65+ yr old grandma. Great video, good clear instructions, and I love the humor. Will check out other videos. Thank you, sir.
My son in law just fixed the almost same model mower for me. He found it on Facebook for free. It does just about the same thing so I’m going to see if it’s this problem and just needs to be cleaned out. Maybe my son in law missed that. Crossing my fingers.
I have a Murry, you can change the belt without taking the steering shaft out, but frankly, it's just as easy to pull the shaft to change the ground drive belt.
Well filmed T-Bone. It’s nice to see when someone knows what they are doing. Most mower repairers on TH-cam here in the UK make it up as they go along and it shows. Keep it up fella. 🔧👍🇬🇧
Thank you sir love your knowledge and humor, glad you didn't hit the door, love your accent, I'm up in the north now and they think I have need of speech therapy, and inform me there is only one o in dog, not four of them and also r is not allowed in warsh , I love your splicity and home talk, sincerely burl
Permatex anti seize........get one drop on you at work and 3 days and 150miles later, at home., you are spreading it around your house..... The gift that keeps on giving........
Mine started clicking going downhill and then it was like in neutral and i couldnt stop it,just hung on for the ride and that was on a mountain road,no brakes no gear but on flat ground works great
I had the same problem with the used Craftman I purchased. First the drive belt measured 7/16" width instead of the 1/2" specified. It still was not quite right so I looked around and found some trash packed in under the clutch peddle linkage that kept the drive belt from fully engaging. A second problem I had was the blade belt. I measured it too and it was 7/16" wide not the 1/2" specified. New belt improved it, but not totally. It is partly the design of this section. The belt as it is pulled by the engine goes around a stationary idler and then on the pully for the left of othe operator the belt is engaging half of the circumference of the blade pulley. The belt is engaging about 1/3 the circumference of the blade pully to the driver's right. There is a spring loaded pully to tighten the belt as it comes from the engine. If you are multching as I do 99% of the time it is easy to go too fast causing the right hafe of the deck to leave a lot of trash. I see two factors here at work. One is that the left blade is shuving a fair about of clipping to the left blade. Two is that the belt is not getting enough traction on the pulley. I have noticed that if you listen and your ground speed is too fast that you will notice a bell sound from time to time. If it sounds like you are grinding up twigs, you are really going too fast!
Mind the door T-Bone! Mrs T will have to repaint that if you scuff it, man o man! you blocked that camera real good 🤣🤣. Way too easy Sir, we need to challenge you with a real big boy problem soon 🤣🤣
Can you tell me or show me where the ideler spring hooks to the frame. Mine broke bough anew one but I can't figure out where it hooks to the frame and how do you stretch the spring to hook it to the frame. I have craftsman yt4000. Thank you .Lonnie
When I was on mowing the bank behind my house went up the hill at a angle then went straight out the yard and got around maybe 25 ft an all but stop no reverse got on flat ground a little forward motion waited till next day it moved back and forth descent took it apart and it shows nothing in transmission got fluid in it and put almost 2quarts in it
T-Bone, have a question. I have a 2017 Gravely ZT HD 60 with 249 hrs on. I recently installed a new drive belt 1/2 x 73 inch. The belt went on very tight and still is. Question, it seems to lose power going up hill. Hydraulic fluid it good, I don't know. Any ideas?

This ain't no car wash. We told the customer to do it, they don't take care of equipment. I repair between 6 and 8 pieces of equipment per day and still 4 weeks behind. Along with making videos. Hammer down at this shop, we are never caught up. Year round we are slammed with work.
I made my rider start pulling good by squirting gas on the spinning belts. I have to do that every time I cut grass now. Never put belt dressing on your riding mower belts. Makes them slip. It's like coating them with oil.
I've noticed, you are not much into cleaning anything. Why work in all that grit and mess? At least garden hose it off prior to fixing. Leaf blower......
In the video at 8:27 where I use the blower is VERY important, this will also cause the clutch / brake to not fully engage the drive belt due to the grass and dirt build up.

Straight to the solution!!!

LOL Dang, wish I would have thought of that, too funny.
That was the easiest belt change method I’ve ever seen. Thank you for that. This is doable with my chain fall.
This man is a pro. Just 30 minutes of digging out caked on dirt at the braking mechanisms, as shown, fixed the problem my good buddy had been struggling with.
Awesome!!

Hope you reinforced your mounting points for your new hoist. Safety first 🙂
👍👍👍Thanks. The dealerships in my local area automatically charge a cleaning fee. The machine is power washed and cleaned before servicing.
Can’t believe how similar this is to my Husqvarna. Exact. Love your accent & how you explain it all. Awesome
Every mower/ lawn tractor i have I replace thows plastic tensioner with steel ones and never look back haha good video shure this has helped many homeowners
That Forward/Reverse control is so much better than the pedals. Thank whiners for the pedals. Great belt guard on that model. Great hoist too.

Nice work T-Bone and you're not kidding about getting Never Seize on you, happens every time no matter how careful.
Hey Mrs T-Bone 👋🙂
Thank you. This was a first for me not getting covered in it 😅 Mrs T says hello.
Thanks brother and count your silvery blessings. 🙂
I have a Murry, you can change the belt without taking the steering shaft out, but frankly, it's just as easy to pull the shaft to change the ground drive belt.
Nice video t-bone , never thought of the grass buildup there , good information on what to look for
Thanks brother

Great video T-bone. I've found a few with "bad transmission" that turned out to be this same simple problem. 👍
Thanks my friend. Hope y'all are doing well. Love your videos brother.
Just love listening to your voice and amazing cadence!!
Thanks man!!!😂
Nice job T-Bone, that mower could do with some love and care
Thank you, yes it could.
Another great video Mr. T Bone, detailed, informative and educational.
Thank you my friend
Really needed to see the proper belt routing through the pulleys
Sure wish I had that lift you got 🙏
They are only about $60 to $80 at Harbor Freight, that's where I got this one.

Permatex anti seize........get one drop on you at work and 3 days and 150miles later, at home., you are spreading it around your house..... The gift that keeps on giving........
🤣 got that right
I enjoy your videos …. I’ve learned a lot at the school of T-Bone Thank you
Gotta try it on my mower 👍
Got that right young man 👍😎 must keep that area clean so it will definitely drive forward with out slippery motion in forward motion
Mine started clicking going downhill and then it was like in neutral and i couldnt stop it,just hung on for the ride and that was on a mountain road,no brakes no gear but on flat ground works great
Thank you very much for this video. It helped me as I've never worked on one of these before.

This is a wheelie good video!
😆 tiny wheelie 🤣
When you lift the front of the mower that high, do you need to drain the oil from the engine ?
I have one with this same issue. Cleaned out all the dirt, but the belt is still loose, is there a clutch adjustment at all? Thanks!
You will need to replace the belt
Love your info you are a great teacher wondering how I could get a couple of your stickers
Thank you. Just email me your address and we will send you a free sticker. Raleytrans@gmail.com
Another GREAT 👍 VIDEO
Thank you
Would love you showing this same repair on a 20 year old (about) huskie rider.
Great video as always T-Bone! Keep up the awesome work brother!
Thank you
Mind the door T-Bone! Mrs T will have to repaint that if you scuff it, man o man! you blocked that camera real good 🤣🤣. Way too easy Sir, we need to challenge you with a real big boy problem soon 🤣🤣
🤣 🤣 I have a good one coming up mid week. Only 3 minutes long.
No lie about the anti seize. No matter how careful I am with that stuff. I still end up looking like the Tin man. 😄
😆 🤣 got that right
Can you tell me or show me where the ideler spring hooks to the frame. Mine broke bough anew one but I can't figure out where it hooks to the frame and how do you stretch the spring to hook it to the frame. I have craftsman yt4000. Thank you .Lonnie
There should be 2 holes in front of left rear tire. I use a bent welding rond as a spring puller, but possibly a metal coat hanger will work also.
What are the changes of the rear end being bad
Thank you I'll try this today.......
When I was on mowing the bank behind my house went up the hill at a angle then went straight out the yard and got around maybe 25 ft an all but stop no reverse got on flat ground a little forward motion waited till next day it moved back and forth descent took it apart and it shows nothing in transmission got fluid in it and put almost 2quarts in it
I could smell that airborne crud from here. I can’t understand why folks allow that stuff to build up. Fire hazard.
Look at the grit fall when you applied that anti-sneeze. Top of the deck was filthy. I would of checked the spindles while you were there.
Any ideas?
And I just thought my ass was too heavy.. lol. Thanks so much, I'll try this tomorrow, if it doesn't work, I'll try a diet instead😅
🤣 🤣 I'm the heavy one and need to diet. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend
If you have an old 1975 model Wheelhorse C-100, show me why the drive/clutch is slipping please.
Sorry I don't.
My 2017 craftsman t2300 has a tag under my seat and says it manufactured by Husqvarna

These were monsters it's a shame the newer ones 2022 to present have been downgraded
Agreed 👍🏻
Don't blow the deck off before you put it back together
Why didn't you blow all that grass and dirt off the mower before you put the belts on
This ain't no car wash. We told the customer to do it, they don't take care of equipment. I repair between 6 and 8 pieces of equipment per day and still 4 weeks behind. Along with making videos. Hammer down at this shop, we are never caught up. Year round we are slammed with work.

Wonder if everything that person owns is that dirty lol
Yes it is. This is the 3rd one he has brought us looking like that. LOL
I made my rider start pulling good by squirting gas on the spinning belts. I have to do that every time I cut grass now. Never put belt dressing on your riding mower belts. Makes them slip. It's like coating them with oil.
Interesting, my belt dressing is very tacky. Wonder does it get oily after a while?
Identical, my cousin vinny?
😆 yep
The old craftsman were superior
I did mean huskavarna
new craftsmans are made by husky they bought the rights to the name!
Looks nothing like my husky
