- For the 2nd half of our 2nd day on Lobster Quest, the Nitto JL/JT Experience presented by KMC Wheels, the good guys from NORA took us out to another awesome trail located in the northwest corner of Massachusetts and it's known as, Old Florida Road. Following along the Hoosac Range and crossing through the Savoy Mountain State Forest, this short but beautiful trail was apparently an old town road that had long since been abandoned and left to deteriorate. While most of the trail was easy for our JT Gladiators and JL Wranglers, there were two notable obstacles that proved to be a real challenge especially thanks to all the rain we'd been getting. Thank goodness we all came prepared with WARN winches! We hope you enjoy seeing all the fun we had.

Years ago, I was hiking up that road wondering who the hell was scattering paint and shards of Jeep parts all over the trail. And somehow I stumbled upon this video today, answering my questions. Awesome video. 🤘🏻

We get a lot of color out in our neck of the woods too but nothing quite like what we saw here. And, it only got better as the trip went on.
Glad to see you enjoyed Massachusetts man, right about now all the leaves are red and orange and it's even more beautiful. It's so funny, I've been living here my entire life and I take the foliage for granted when in fact it's a phenomenon that's unique to our region

Wayalife if you are ever back in Massachusetts you should definitely check out Cape Cod is a large region of our state that has a lot of flat lands/beach area and it the polar opposite of the North Adams and Berkshire mountain areas.

Nice to see you in our neck of the woods! OFR is one of my favorite public trails. Those Gladiators did awesome considering the long wheelbase. I'm impressed!
Had an absolute blast wheeling on your trails! The Gladiators are big but as you can see, they held their own.

Snow, rain, bears, dragons, flying rocks lol a huge part of why I personally love your videos is the quality of the film making. You guys need a black Cindy hat in your Merch with your logo and the words get your shot in white lol hell I'd buy that

Those trails remind us of where we live in Washington. Like you said the trees are different but the terrain and rain looks like home! Great video! And I love your attitude about you are not gonna drive that far just to take by-passes!! ❤️🐞

I'm winching in the rain, just winching in the rain. Wow, your Gladiator handled OFR remarkably well. My hats off to Mel for coming up with one heck of a product. Exciting seeing Synergy do a little slip and slide. I guess they weren't synergizing with the rock. :0) Really fun to watch you all wheel on my local trails.

Poor Cindy! Hope she had good rain gear!
Unfortunately, she did not and got soaked to the bone. So did her camera and for the next couple of days, she resorted to filming with her iPhone. The camera eventually dried out and started working again.
That red PSC gladiator is just beautiful. That one is my fav.

All the Jeep's were Rock Stars, but I love how you and others on the trail/trip prove the JT's can wheel with the best...
Great Vid Eddie and Cindy... The cinematographer is spectacular!
I won't lie, there were times when I had my doubts but time and time again, the JT's proved themselves to be formidable on the trail. Granted, they were all running UD60's, 40" Nitto's and of course, EVO suspension systems.

The longer wheel base of the Gladiator was a negative in terms of getting around trees but a positive in terms of climbs. With EVO suspension, UD60 axles and 40" Nittos, it got the job done for sure.
Ouch...The dreaded Wild Turkey at the end! Haven’t been able to touch that stuff since having a bad experience at UCLA seeing Molly Hatchet back in 79’. Lol
LOL - it was actually a mix with American Honey to make a bee sting. But, it's not for everyone.

Old Florida Road, now that was a beautiful trail. Some good ledges to crawl up over. Even got to show the capability of that BadAss EVO equipped Gladiator through a good water crossing with those 40's you can beat your chest and scream, Snorkel? WE DONT NEED NO STINKING SNORKEL..

Tried to run all these NE trails every year in my Tacoma on 33’s. I just got my gladiator a month ago and I’m looking forward to trails as a Jeep owner now. Thanks for the video it’s a big help looking at the wheelbase and visualizing how it handles over tight ledges especially ones I am familiar with as I start my build. Guess I’m going to have to go 35s to have a prayer of having the belly clear that first ledge. Can’t wait for your next video.

Awesome video. I have not done Old Florida road yet. I almost did a couple days after you shooting this. We were camping in Florida MA the following weekend and heard roomers of you guys being in the area. Did Old Military road in VT instead, which was a bit more tight and more overgrown. Either way, this area in New England is a hot spot for wheeling. Thanks for visiting and treading lightly

Very nice seeing the Gladiator handle the big ledges.
I did miss hearing the Hellcat powered one spinning his tires on them though.
I did have my doubts but was pleasantly surprised at how well they did. Unfortunately, I think Skyjacker lost all confidence in their tires after the first trail we ran earlier in the day. Needless to say, they went around.
Glad to hear the fighter jet fans are in full force.

That gladiator is set up really nice, I've been wanting another jeep for many yrs, but just cant seem to trading in the truck, seeing how capable it is has me thinking about getting one

LOL - fortunately, we own both but if I were forced to choose just one over the other, I would gt the Gladiator.
Love the vedio you can see clearly that tires matter the 2 jeeps running ridge grapplers did not make it very well others that where not did.
Glad you enjoyed the video. To be fair on the Ridge Grapplers, they were only 37's where as the Trail Grapplers we were running were 40's.

Yup, most of the rigs you see were running Dana Ultimate UD60's. With all the heavy acceleration required on these trails, it's a real testament as to how strong they really are. Definitely up to the abuse.

Great video thxs for sharing! Here's a rookie question so excuse my ignorance but what does locking the "hubs" do anymore, does not locking the front differential do the same thing in allowing both wheels to turn at the same rate? I am confused on this any info would be appreciated thxs all.
Manual hubs are old school and really, you only find them on 1-ton axles like Dana UD60s these days. The JL's and JT's do come with a FAD and that kind of does the same thing but not exactly. Basically, with the hubs unlocked, your front shafts will not spin.

Great video, I'm impressed how well the Gladiator does on the trail. Other than the long wheel base, what are it's limitation compared to the JL?
Well sure, you need to go bigger, like 40" tires to make it perform like a JL on 37's. Also, you have less room to carry stuff inside but then, you do have the whole bed to carry a LOT more stuff. If I had to pick one over the other, I would definitely get a JT.

Damn now you were really close. Wonder if my wife waited on you at brewmasters. I’ve wheeled that trail before when I had a Jeep. Did you see the hoosic tunnel? My father has a stone set there in his memory for his years served on the railroad.
Unfortunately, we did not have time to see the tunnel but I did hear about it.
Love the EVO rack on the bed. Is there a made tire carrier for the top? How are you securing the tire?
We have ours strapped down using a Baja style spare strap.

LOL - these were the sole survivors of a late night. Everyone else went to bed.
Man you guys don’t make the decision easy. Been going back and forth between a JL and a JT, but I think with having a family and not needing a hardcore trail rig, I *think* the JT is the better platform for that purpose. I hope I’m not wrong.
It'd be a tough choice for sure. Unless you have some kind of bed storage, the back of a JL is actually a lot easier to carry stuff in or at least, for a family.
My wife and I got a JLUR last year and have a small family and do light trial rides we love it, can’t compare it to a JT bc we don’t have one but for a family ride and light off roading and eventually heavy off roading when our kid is older the JL was a great choice for us but to each his own
