  • Our final day at the 2019 SEMA Show was a busy one for us as we tried to get in as many manufacturers as we could before everything came to an end. To kick off our day, we ran over to Central Hall, the main hall or what I like to refer to as the epicenter of the show and to meet up with aFe Power who wanted to show us their new coilovers, bypass shocks, air intake system, exhaust systems and even a cool new grill insert that comes complete with off-road lights. From there, we cross the hall and made a quick stop over at S&B to see if they did anything new with the particle separator they showed off last year and then headed over to our good friends at Rancho to see what they had on display for the Gladiator truck. After paying a quick visit over at Tekton tools, we made our way back in to the Off-Road Hall and hooked up with Tuffy Security to see the storage box and bed cover they got a couple awards for and then wrapped up our day at Synergy where we got a close up look at their awesome 2-door JL Wrangler with long arm kit installed. Whew! We hope you enjoy.

    The tuff boxes are a neat concept. But from looking at them a few things I already can tell will be an issue are the locks and handles should be flush to the box, the ability to store long items like a shotgun etc can be difficult getting in and out of the box with the cross member at the lid ( perhaps having the ability to loft it up). Also would have been neat to apply some type of drawer system in the bed portion that would still allow storage above between it and the cover. Secondary having s box system that would work with some of the bed rack systems as I do believe there will be a plethora of those systems sold. I would think that they would work with someone to have some type of drop in organization boxes for the interior to help organize things. As well as some type of system to include in box lighting or central locking as well as being able to extend the factory power plug in the back for access.Some people would benefit from a smaller system from one lid to two lids as well. But conceptually I do like the idea, I just think they missed the mark of what it could be in actuality. add, having a slide out for the bed might be another option to reach items for those who want ease of getting to things in the back while overlanding or having some type of rack and roof top tent, etc,

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome feedback and hopefully Tuffy will see it. This was just a concept and they really are looking to hear from people like you to help develop it more.

      Wayalife I appreciate it. Youll see later what we are doing building up an overland Gladiator though going a different route than this, probably a Patriot Campers Tray and Cab. But we are just waiting for the diesel to come out. So I really get the idea behind this stuff and know that you have some pull with them wanting feedback. I am still learning about jeep stuff for the gladiator and we would deep into it now. But really waiting for the Diesel. We are building it to attempt some major Overlanding type trips off the beaten path. Our first major one is going up from Alaska down to tip of Baja. Looking at maybe completing Panamerican Hwy. But I am a post 9/11 combat disabled veteran Blast injury, TBI, Physical and have a service dog. So we really need to ensure health, safety as well as time between medical and personal to compete is able. Wanna post it up on the Tube under @Gladiator Overland to not only share our build, trips, planning, everything etc. But hopefully get other Veterans even people motivated to Get Out and Go. If even for only a weekend as if I am able to with my injuries, my spouse and her dog and my Service Animal on a pension. Then anyone should be able to. As you well know the rigs don’t have to be as over the top as I have planned and anyone can make it work. Yeah we are looking for help with the build, and some sponsorship to offset some of the costs and working with COP over at COP4x4. A very cool dude we met out in Hawaii from Arizona wheeling with us and others after a local show in our FJ out at Peacock Flats before my Injuries. Anyways I appreciate the content and hopefully can at least make my stuff happen and also help other vets in the process.. take care.

    Another interesting video. Thanks for the great pre show and daily coverage Eddie. One thing you should mention to the vendors is they should put up the products they are showing on their website with all the detail and the release date. I find it very frustrating to see your coverage - have interest in a product - then go to that company’s website and NOTHING! It’s like they don’t want to market their products. Just crazy. I’d be marketing the hell out of them taking advantage of the show coverage - with a lot of detail on their website they could be taking deposits for pre orders etc. not a single one doing it. Talk about last century. They all need a good shaking.

      Wayalife Eddie I was reading that the aftermarket is worth around US $44bn per annum, I wonder how much of that is Jeep.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We went by there first on Tuesday morning and with the hopes of covering it. Once we learned it was still just a semi-float rear axle and with just 1/2" studs, we decided to skip it. Time is extremely limited for us at SEMA and we prefer to cover things that actually interest us.

      Rock Slide Engineering. They were handing them out to everyone.

    • @pwrofgrayskull
      @pwrofgrayskull 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I thought they looked like Rock Slide, but wasn't 100% sure. My wife and I are looking for some Gladiator rocker protection for trail use as well as to keep rocks from kicking up from the tires and tearing up the hinges and fronts of the rear flares. We don't need or want (edit:electric drop down steps) steps at this point. Need something more reasonable price-wise too. Haven't found anything yet that checks all of our boxes. Please let us know if you have any suggestions.
      Thanks once again for your awesome coverage - our family has enjoyed it, hope you had fun, hopefully your feet don't hurt too bad!!

    • @wayalife

      EVO Bomber Rocker guards are what we have on our JT now. They look similar but they're just body mounted rocker guards and do not have any kind of drop down step, electric or other wise.

      Walt Cornett It would have to be CARB certified, and that isn’t a quick process, nor cheap. Most manufacturers won’t even bother going down that road with CARB.
