As someone who loves the alpha series, yet knows very little as to the nuanced differences between the multitude of releases, this was very helpful. Fantastic video.

Zero 3 is the best SF game ever

It's really grown on me over the years. Mostly because it's just so bonkers!

This collection was my very first introduction to street fighter. I would love for most of the features in this collection to make a return like color edit, Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 Upper, and more in a future collection.

      Here's hoping Capcom agree!

For anyone running this on a CRT. You can patch and hex edit Alpha Anthology and Zero Fighter's Generation to run in 240p using a Windows Utility called HxD. Then once you've patched the game using 240p codes. Go into any of the titles on the collection, go into the in games video settings turn the sharpness all the way up to 16+ and on the offset set V: +1 and then set Ratio H to 98% and Ratio V to 97%. Youll have a much sharper and better image closer to the arcade

people have tested and it seems that the PS2 collection is actually arcade-perfect. personally i'd love to see Hyper Street Fighter Alpha/Zero be "completed" and released with all the modes available in the other games, and honestly i'm surprised you didn't include that on your list. i think it'd be the number 1 candidate for a game on the collection AND for having online play (as we've seen the 30th anniversary only has online functionality for some of the games on it)
with that being said, the 30th anniversary for SFZ/SFA is on the horizon, and it would honestly be shocking to not see capcom release an upgraded version of the PS2 collection in celebration... here's to hoping

Yeah, a feature-rich version of Hyper with online would allow me to die happy. Here's hoping Capcom are cognisant of the upcoming anniversary

@@goukigod same here! i've been craving something out of Hyper beyond setting player 2 to COM and doing the hidden random VS mode while limiting my options.
what's cool is that since the different alpha games have different endings for characters, Hyper could have had that be how the arcade mode works, each edition of a character getting the respective intro/ending and even enemy variations. also it's kind of criminal that out of every game featured in both versions of the collection, Hyper is the only one that does NOT give you access to color edit mode

My suspicion is that the original plan was to create a stand-alone game, something similar to Hyper SFII, that might even have had an arcade release. But for whatever reason it got canned before completion. So they figured let's just put what we have into this collection as a bonus.

@@goukigod yep yep. there's some hope as capcom has been doing amazing in terms of what SF6 provides players, so i feel like my wishes for a HSFZ remake are not completely founded in hope, and that capcom may in fact deliver.

While it is currently a definite and expansive collection for the PS2, I like to mention that there are even more cheats not documented on GameFaqs Cheats section but in one of the Zero Fighters' Generation Secrets FAQs. Theses includes Extra Arcade Mode, for example, you can actually have Cammy or Chun-Li in her SF2 outfit as an opponent in Alpha 2 Gold/Zero 2 Dash (only for A2 and A3 games); Dramatic Survival Mode (basically Dramatic Battle merged with Survival Mode); Akuma (A2 games)/Final Battle (A3 games); changing the routes for Survival Mode; and an exclusive "Random Versus" mode, when holding certain buttons on Versus, it will start a fight with random characters. When pausing, it will generate a list of characters for both players to choose from or ignore for the next fight. Hyper Alpha has a hidden credits.
Now if we need a new modern collection, a couple of things needed are the following: 1) Somehow, Alpha/Zero 1 doesn't have the option to select its arranged music (since there isn't any looping for the following: Chun-Li and one of the Staff Roll songs) and was neglected to Hyper Alpha/Zero's massive sound test. This option need to be added. Same goes for original Alpha/Zero 2, as Hyper Alpha also included the SNES music (most of it). 2) Hyper Alpha needs rebalancing and its hidden Shadaloo-ISM for the "MVC" graphics/animations needs to be updated as the team left out Chun-Li, Cammy, Zangief and Guile's. 3) If you hadn't noticed with Hyper Alpha, Cammy has dual voices: her A2G/Versus series VA, when selecting A2G and her A3 VA. All of the characters that appeared in A1 and A2 were defaulted to their A3 voices. So that needs updating as well (since the massive sound test has Cammy's A2 VA's voice clips from the Versus series, might as well include everyone else's).
    4) Also when this collection was released, many people stated that Alpha/Zero 1 had bugs with the inputs, that needed to be corrected. 5) Hyper Alpha needs an Arcade mode, badly. Should had followed Hyper SF2 and Darkstalkers Chronicle. And finally 6) going back to the "VS Series" - ISM, from KHInsider website that had the video games soundtracks, they have this soundtrack, while incomplete (missing the rest of arcade Alpha 1, 2 and Gem/Pocket Fighter music), the list somehow have selected music from the MVC series (however, Akuma has his III 3rd Strike theme and Dictator hasn't even received one for a strange reason) indicating the music was supposed to be in the collection but was ultimately went to the Cutting Room Floor. Fixing the issue with that ISM in Hyper Alpha, we will hear these tracks in the game.

That is an insane amount of detail. Nice one! I agree too. It would be nice for all those issue to be resolved. I'd like the dip-switch star menu to a bit easier to use as well. It would be nice to quickly revert to an older version of the game.

@@goukigod Yeah, that FAQ I mentioned does have some information on the dip-switches. It is how I found out about the extras modes via button presses.
Also forgot: both PS1 and Saturn had different versions of Sakura and Cammy's themes. Anthology only play the Saturn version, which also include a shorten version of Staff Roll 3 music. Did not notice that there were two versions at the time, in which I only played the PS1 versions of original Alpha 2 and A2 Gold. Definitely need a dip-switch for that.
