I think muscle suit is a nice detail showing that homelander, as the strongest hero, never bothered to make his body go through it’s limits. And also the fact that we almost never see him without the costume as he said he stopped bothering with his secret identity
To be fair, how would someone like him even go about doing that? Any weight he could workout with would be too light or not structurally strong enough to keep him from ripping through it. We see Maeve train a bunch but she still seems pretty skinny.
You can still love soldier boy while recognizing he's objectively a terrible person and a bad leader, his way of thinking about masculinity is objectively stupid and insecure. It's on you if you find genuine admiration for him, the show is only doing his work at building a character with personality

WHY is A-Trains suit the colours it is, what is it virtue signaling, What are the subtle hints of what stormfronts suit and homelanders suit hinting at, what flags, historical reasons behind how they look, what ideologies do they represent.

When Homelander went to Vogelbaum if that's how you spell it, there were some early prototypes of the Homelander suit with different colors etc and one of the suits was the Homelander suit but red which imo looked pretty cool and kinda looked like the Stormfront suit from the comics.
I love how they made the muscle suit and fake blonde canonical to Homelander. Being that he was made in a lab and was always strong, his body never needed to adapt by building muscle. (while Soldierboy was injected as an adult so he probably already had muscle) Also the hair. It's so inconsistent. It's usually all blonde during the first episodes of each season. But you can tell it gets gradually worse. In season 4 it looks really bad, not only the dyejob but the quality of his hair is fucked. And it's nice that the show makes fun of it. I also hope we get the comic suit for season 5. With the single Eagle and massive chain

I also don't like Noir's dickplate and mask, the plastic clashes with the rest of the suit IMO. In the comics he had a costume a lot like Black Panther's and it looked cool af.

The fake muscles on Homelander’s suit are purposeful for the character, not because Anthony Star was too lazy to get shredded for a role. Homelander possesses intrinsic natural strength, not hyper muscular development like Captain America. He has no need to workout. This shows that Homelander is lazy, and that Vought understands that in order to appear strong to the public, he needs to be shown to have muscles.
Homelander looks the best for the comic accuracy, but making it better. I guess the same could be said for Black Noir. But OVERALL best is definitely Soldier Boy’s suit.
