Hi Simon through out all the land rovers I’ve had the best for me was the IID tool👍 I’ve tried also the Hawkeye and I carsoft brands also fox well and every time I’ve resolved back to the IID tool it is more expensive but worth the few extra hundred quid cheers powerfuluk 🎉🎉🎉 great to see you over LR time ❤😊
Hi Simon, I had an icarsoft unit and that was ok for fault ID but couldn’t do any programming. I got an IID tool and that’s very good and quite easy to use and understand. Also no subscription charges.
The GAP tool is our tool of choice. One thing it cannot do on the new Defender yet is brake bleeding routine.... thats why we had to get the Bosch out... but more on that in another video coming soom !
Interesting in this. But I’m mainly posting here to make a request about removing the front seats’ backs (apparently on the L663 D300 110 MY23.5 you have to do that to remove the headrests to fit the seat covers!). Any chance of such a video?
Hey mate. I have a 2016 Range Rover sport. The 4 button section on the center console where the height adjust buttons are. Do those pop off? I have some replacements for them as mine are faded. Just wanting to know is it as simple as popping them off and snapping the new ones back on
Hi Simon, my 2023 Range Rover Sport was recently stolen but thankfully recovered but thieves have decoded some software and we are now trying to get into the vehicles software to resolve the problem so that we can get it running again. My garage don’t have the right software for their diagnostics equipment to access the vehicles software other than it telling them theirs a fault in the telematics module (which the thieves disconnected) so for the moment they have given up. Any suggestions would be much appreciated before I am left with no other option other than taking it to Land Rover who I know are going to rip me off. 🙏🏻 thank you
@@simonjefferson Hi Simon, thank you so much for getting back to me your very kind. The vehicle is actually in Germany which is causing me a logistical issue but it’s at a garage and I’m going to pass them your advice to access the software immediately. Thanks again so very much, please forgive me if I need to reach out to you again 🙏🏻
What PC do you use with the first two options? It seems for some reason they require us to use a Panasonic Toughbook, do you know if they can be used with a regular PC?
Hi, Simon. Recommend cheap equipment for my Range Rover Sport 2011 L320. So that I can diagnose myself, read errors and delete them. Thanks in advance.
This is interesting stuff, I dabble with our PTT type for our trucking Fleet with programing and setting parameters, not a huge fan of the need to be always online req for these diags and programming tools but it's the nature of the beast now a days. I would be a way to keep the autostart/stop off or remember our last setting since we always turn the dang thing off on our Defender110 mine is US spec car but the other (mod) I would like it to set the tailings to work as the UK as to me they seem better and safer. (I hate, Hate when turn signals here rob the brake like functionality and that they use red for the turn signal)
The steel wheels were an ebay bargain - advertised as old school Defender wheels but they are Range Rover classic wheels that we are refurbing for the classic. We have found that Ford Kuga etc wheels fit the Freelander 2... I am trying to get a set of Cougar spare wheels - be careful not to buy the space saver !
Seriously considering a gap g4. Can anyone confirm if it can set the air suspension to three heights independently? It used to be that you could offset by a certain amount but it applied to all three settings - I’d like to be able to lower the access height without changing the standard drive height!
Hi Simon. on a 2023.5 Defender 110 - Is it possible to turn off the Lane assist Until it is required ( such as motorway use) as it is from the factory the lane assist is ON at every Start Up - which i find a nuisance as its like the Devil takes over sometimes when on A Roads and snicking a corner etc.
I have had a look at the CCF file - I have made a spreadsheet with all the CCF parameters and added a column for keywords. There are several options for LKA so i need to look at this. Also we have the "last mode" option set for the STOP START - this remembers the last setting on close down and applies this on next boot up - let me see if that works for LKA !
I kind of invited this question... but right now i do not really want to suggest anything that could leave your car in a pickle without support.... we are using it very sparingly. It does have a great CCF reader and comparitor for comparing 2 CCF files... handy for BEFORE and AFTER the visit to a dealer for a recall !
@@L663 This is what the IID tool is currently missing. And the ability to make dated back-ups of your CCF so you can "roll back" to an earlier verson if you make a boo-boo!

We understand you are concerned to recommend software without support, but some of us may like to make that decision our selves. So please share actual name and download site if available.
Hi Simon……strange video…… but I gather that none of these systems will work on my suffix A 1972 Range Rover or my daily drive my 1990 3.9 V 8 automatic Range Rover???? Keeping it simple with no BS or stress!!! Regards Ian Scorey 👨🎤🇳🇿😎🍸👍😂😂
Simon…this is complex stuff….i just hope Sytner have all the right gubbins and have sorted out the updates for me….I “ go live” with the PHEV on Friday…argghh…everybody tells me I must be mad! Time will prove them….well I hope wrong!! 😱😱🫢🫢😬😀😀😀😀
@@L663 Hello Simon! I will gladly keep you informed of how owning this PHEV goes. I have had nothing but warnings and derision for buying it and I guess it is a bit of a chance but I have done a lot of research into faults and they mainly affect the 2017-2020 cars so as this one is right on the end of production before the L461 arrived, I understand the problems were mostly ironed out. On the test drive, it was in its normal setting switching between electric and petrol but in fact the engine only fired up once as I left a roundabout. It was barely perceptible though. They tell me honestly that the real world range in normal traffic is around 21 miles but on gentle rolling country roads then it can do the 25 miles claimed….on Tuesday we set forth for Cornwall again so usually the means about 700 miles over a week but we are there longer this time then go straight to Hampshire for four days. May brings more travel so it will do a fair number of miles and I will keep a log of exactly what it really achieves! The reason for using it is purely comfort for Hilary with her osteoarthritis problems as the dreadful roads are really hurting her back so I had to do something and this is a best ride solution I can find. She cannot get in the newer version as it is much bigger and higher so I got the best L494 I could find. I have ordered a set of mats last night but the boot mat needs work..Destiny has helped me with that and I will report on sizes etc to work out what fits the raised floor. So Simon…this is a You Tube type “ Click Bait” situation.. “ I have gone mad and bought a P400e….when will it bite me???” I might try to do some film..I have the camera and mounts…it could be a content creator but I really hope not!! 😱😱😱🫢🫢😬😬😀😀😀😀Richard.
Definitely will be interested to see future videos on this subject.
We will be doing more over the coming weeks.

The IID tool is our go to tool - and excellent support too..and no subscription like the Land Rover system.
I love you guys, what a statement "All the gear and know idea". I may have to borrow that one for my daily life quote.

Great video.
Thanks!
Thanks, Simon. Question: What IID tool would you recommend for a Discovery 5 2019?
I think that needs to be the G4 as it uses DOIP.. this tool will be future proof too !
I’ve found G3 (Blue Tooth) with updated software (free update) works on L462 D300…

Looks like the dark arts to me. Too worried that I would cnt-alt-dlt my entire Defender system.
I must admit it does scare me a little...
