David made a wonderful statement when explaining the continued interest in the show is a tribute to the fans and their values. Probably the best compliment us fans could ever receive. In society today there are so many of us longing for family values and what we might call, the innocent age. The Waltons allow us to relive those times and gives us the hope those values will return one day.

There are also so many who are longing not only for family values but for a family's love. And this show depicted immeasurable love. Family values and a Family's Love will always be within all of us throughout time and age.

There are a lot of shows that the public has loved over the years, but *_The Waltons_* is a classic of all time that belongs treasured in the Library of Congress/National Archive. It made a huge impact on the viewing public, we absolutely loved it. Though 50 years have passed, the story has not, for it remains in our hearts as a picture of our culture's early years. Thank you, Judy and David, Mary, Richard, Jon, Kami, Eric, Michael, and fond remembrances of Ralph, Will, Ellen and the rest of the ensemble, and without Earl, there wouldn't have been a story. You stole our hearts.

As he closed the episode I felt he truly enjoyed this trip down memory lane. So glad for him and for us because he will hopefully return for more episodes!! BTW I cant get over his passion for history which apparently he had as quite a young guy.

Partly through David’s memories & what you all share with each other to this day, it seems you all had an atmosphere close to what the best camp experiences are & should be. ~Importantly, this is aside from the significant, horrible conditions put on some of you, likely especially upon females, regarding your bodies’ health and image. In other ways, similar to healthy camps and community groups, you had: 1) ways to express & support your talents & interests; 2) caring adults who helped create those conditions & included the kids as vital community members not as subordinates ~except, one would want, where age appropriate; 3) regular access to the outdoors & play (including “work play”, of course -under supervised conditions & standards of protections); 4) hopefully transparent rules & responsibilities for all adults & children, with avenues to appeal for change & redress.
The poster who wrote of wanting values to return… I think like good healing camps for kids with various challenges &/or interests and any community groups who uphold similar conditions, everyone benefits from supportive communities added to one’s family. We have ongoing options to create these and their impact - if done right - fosters added family connections & care for decades.
Thanks for all of your Sharing ~ of your bonds and reflections that still nurture more good feelings & acts! 🌱 🪺

Thank you (both) so very much for doing this. It was so interesting to hear of David's affinity of historical events. I would love to pick his brain on what he knows about the Civil War's Battle of Shiloh (TN), as we have a relative who was ultimately mortally wounded in that conflict, and I know so very little about that battle. As a side note, imagine my surprise when I turned on Netflix the other night to watch that series, "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", only to find that MICHAEL LEARNED was playing Jeffrey's grandmother!! I had to do a double take when I first saw her!! She was brilliant, as usual, in the role she played, but I just wanted to bring that up. I was thrilled to watch her on screen, again, but I have to say, I was taken aback by "Jeffrey" yelling at her and cursing at her. Don't worry...............I've recovered. lol!!! I was worried that the series might not be as rich and strong without Richard Thomas, but kudos to the writers that they were able to maintain those qualities by giving great story lines to the other supporting family members. I find that I really don't miss "John Boy" much at all. I know that I will be watching the series all over again next year. I'm sure I will gain an even greater appreciation for the series. I'm not sure that he understands how much the fans love him and all the cast. It was those type of scenes which were about everyday events and relationships that we can relate to and why we feel so close to you all. The historic events were a natural part of the show but more important to me was the way of life as it was represented. Just the fact that Grandma and Grandpa lived with them. And since David brought up Beulah Bondi, the way Martha Corinne reminisces about her young life. There just is no other show that does that!

Great episode, thanks for getting David to do three parts? I'm interested in WWll and Civil War history. One of my favorite moves is The Blue and the Grey. Wish they hadn't t had David's character die so soon!

Thanks so much for sharing with Judy and us fans! I was thinking about Jim Bob/David's scene relating the devastating news to Mary Ellen/Judy. Perhaps James Robert was a bit of a metaphor for the United States that "grew up" because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Idk quite how to say what I mean. Idk about others here, but I never set out to be a Walton's Fan. Other than a few musicians I like a lot, I'm don't typically memorize other shows except maybe Carol Burnett and I Love Lucy. For me, Walton's represented a family ideal and an era I appreciated. I hope you'll visit Pennsylvania, David! Col. Strong Vincent is a hero from our region! Gettysburg memorial battlefields still retain solemnity, and rightly so. Blessings to you both and Walton's everywhere! 🧡✨🍂✨🍁✨🧡

🤣🤣🤣 that pink hair and the tattoo aww man you were funny David. Growing up I saw you and kami as my equals but I also have an older brother so he was the mean version of John boy lol yeah man, you're a crack up David and I mean that in the most brotherly way. Wouldn't it be great if American television played all the episodes in 2022. The youth would be amazed, at how little the world had in the way of entertainment and fun. I loved it back then guys. The creeks, the mud, the constant running lol it would be hard for the youth today seeing any fun happening back then lol lol thanks for sharing Judy. Been a blast!

Thanks to David for joining the party. Interesting to know where the road took all the cast members. After 50 years it's like catching up with distant relatives. How wonderful to have been a part of something as epic as the Waltons, and even more wonderful you acknowledge us fans. Always learning something new here. 😊

Judy, thank you for your discussion with David Harper. I was surprised to hear he was a civil war historian. I am as well, and wear the uniform and share stories of the civil war. In the last month I’ve spoken at two universities on the subject, appeared in documentaries as well.

Yeah! Jim Bob, my favorite.🎃 Yes, they cycled it three times; my partner gets upset. Because my DVR is now full of 85 episodes. 🤣. Just watched the dance marathon. Like They Kill Horses, Don't They. Then read All's Quiet on the Western Front. WWI, is more fascinating than WWII. ⭐⭐⭐ Thanks Judy for bringing David Harper out of his cocoon🎃.

Judy, thanks again for having David on, I didn't know he was a Texan. I actually grew up in a small town about 50 miles from his home. David, if you are reading this, I tracked down Ike/Barney Fife sidecar Harley and am making a road trip just to have my picture taken sitting on it, a bucket list item for me, lol. Like you, I am a also an avid reader and History buff. Judy, I hope you had a wonderful vacation!

I am so appreciative of the fact that David agreed to do an interview with you. I know he is quiet and not one to seek the limelight. I am very much the same personality and it makes me even more grateful he did this! I have been one of those fans who have been, begging and pestering to hear from him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! I admire David so much, as well as the entire Walton's cast!

Judy, this was the best of the three. He is a fascinating person. On a different note, I have found I own the cd discs for the first four seasons. Those I can watch. I am discovering the other five are now either super expensive or not available at all. That is ok, the first four will be enough nostalgia to keep me going for quite some time. If it did not cost so much to get extra tv channels, I would check out the Hallmark channel David mentioned. By the time you read these you will have had your Anniversary trip. I hope it was wonderful.

@@elizabethhjenkins6172 I'm sorry to hear that! I live on a fixed income as well( which is why I bought one season at a time). The holidays are coming. Maybe you can hint around.😉 Maybe different people can each get you a season and you'd at least have a couple of seasons. If you lived in my area, I'd let you borrow mine. Check at your library! The library in my town has a few seasons, and what they don't have, they can borrow from another library. I hope you find a way to get at least some of the seasons!
