Hey, Patty, another great short! This being a 30 second video will naturally have a bit of missing info that people who aren’t familiar might not know. That being said, I would like to add that this might not be for everyone. If you have weak knees, some of these exercises might cause pain or even an injury. Try them and see how comfortable you feel, if they hurt decrease range of motion to the point you are comfortable. If they continue to hurt, don’t do them. Instead focus on strengthening group muscles like the quads, hip flexors, glutes, and even some core. And learn how to properly hip hinge for step downs and squats as to not put pressure on your knees before you are strong and flexible enough; make sure that your knees and ankles are stacked. And equally as important: stretch your the muscle groups mentioned and CARS (controlled articulated rotations) and other light range of motion exercises. Then when you are strong and confident enough, you may try some of the exercises that caused pain before. You may also decrease the range of motion and slowly work your way up. (I work in a PT clinic as a PTA)

Had this as a teenager. The most painful experience was going up any kind of incline, stairs were the absolute worst. I was in cruches and had to take the school elevator for the handicapped.
It means your knees are growing faster then the rest of your body. Stay strong and keep up with physical therapy. It took me a full year and a half to finally feel some normalcy again. If you're over exerting yourself due to sports, such as track, or soccer, that's a good indicator that you need to give your body a break, and slow down. Swimming was a great alternative to my usual activities. It soothed my muscles while also working them. It's a very painful process but you will push through. Good luck on your recovery. ❤

Just avoid training through painful ranges of motion while going through this progress. Just go to the point of discomfort/mild pain and you can progress from there. And ideally find exercises that you can do in longer ranges of ROM and with some resistance, so you can efficiently improve your strength.
I've had a ton of success rehabbing injuries this way, of my low back, a torn quad and a couple other musculare things, a separated shoulder, and a couple other small things, from exercise issues and traumatic injuries like car accidents.
Granted, these were all acute injuries, not degenerative. You got this though! Improved pain is just around the corner!

From a physical therapist view this is very much generalizing pain. The exercises might help some but might make things worse for others. Always depending on your conditin, root cause of your symptoms. So take advice like this always with a pinch of salt and if you want to do the exercises ease into them and check how you feel an hour/ a day after.

It's all about load management. Just increase the load over time whilst you're monitoring pain. When you increase the load and then you start to have pain, then you know the load that you're doing is too much, thus you should reduce the load to the point it doesn't hurt anymore. Over time your joints will get stronger.
