I just installed a "Big Muther Thumper" Comp Cam in my stock 454. It has one hell of a sound. On a 107 lobe separation and is .522 lift. Very streetable. I just put aluminum intake, holley, and headers. The sound is awesome. Thumper cams!
Sounds like a bunch of lies. Chevy is NOT better then Ford. Both motors do the same shit. No one is better then the other. I hate this false information about who’s better. You all are just band wagoners who know shit about anything. I rather run a Ford due to the timing in a 302 Ford is like no other and you can not beat that sound. Oh yeah and ford also made the 427 that kicked Chryslers ass. Haha Fords Rule!
Thanks Ryan. I usually fill the engines with water just before I start them. Lately I have attached a small radiator with an electric fan so I can let it run longer.
I love the sound of a cammed big block Chevy. I've never started an engine on an engine stand before. I've been afraid it might tip but I think I might try to start my next engine on an engine stand - though my engine stand has 4 legs.
I got a 1984 s10 blazer 2wd with a 408ci. Stroker. 560 lift cam, dual exhaust, 200r4 monster transmission. To much to list. It's all done up. I call it "little nasty." You have a sweet ride, love it!👍
Nice big block guys 2 thumbs up my dad and has been dragracing for many years he has past on now. Now I'm doing on my own good job on the big block gorgeous vette
11.1 compression. It has the 1968 Corvette 427-435 hp closed chambered heads. Can't wait to get that thing in that Corvette of my Son's and feel the power. Thanks
Great great sound love Chevy big blocks I had a 56 Chevy 427 fuel injected big square Port heads 513 gears Hooker headers straight Axl fiberglass front end roll bar 1101 quarter mile 600 horsepowerBorg Warner super t-10 close-ratio transmission that's better than the Muncie
Nice I live a few blocks away from the old shop when we where kid we use to go see the cars they would test drive the cars on sunrise high way that car going to be sick good luck
When I was in Navy Nuclear Power School in Orlando in the early 80's, I had a' '73 Mach 351CJ/C-6/9", one friend had a '70 429CJ Torino, and another a '69 427/435 tri-power 'Vette, not stock, and w/ real sidepipes.
That is hard to answer. We have owned this motor since back in the mid 80's and had it freshened up in the late 90's, so I have lost touch of really how much all the machine work etc. has gone up since then. Just check with a lot of engine shops and talk to a lot of smart car guys. Just be careful who you leave your hard earned parts with when you drop everything off at the shop where you are dealing. Thanks.
If you are going to cruise it at all the 450 gears are really low unless you have about a 30-33 inch tall tire. 370- 410 would be all you would need. Powerglide is good if built right.
Well I hope you like detonation....because your probably gonna have plenty of it with that much compression and iron heads....i smell high octane race fuel or octane booster in your future...tho you might squeak by with backed off timing and 93 octane....never the less I'm sure it will be alot of fun! Best wishes and good luck! If your running a flat tappets don't forget to add zddp/Zink with each oil change.
I have seen guys start engines on stands online and wondered about it. In the car, I've had some engine that really rock the hell out of the frame - seems pretty darn solid though.
Man, you got a big pair of balls running that beautiful engine on that wimpy, wobbly three legged engine stand...I guess that you just love to take chances !!...I hate to even roll those around because they could fall over due to the very high CG....just my $.02 !
Just wondering if you got it in the vette yet? My brother has one in his 67 ChevelleSS,, 570hp. Sets car alarms off just idling down the street. Great engine, nice vette, hope to see the results.
some day if its possible i want a 402 bbc in a 80's c10. 33x10.5 slicks if i can find them and have a full one race truck. a mid sized single turbo, around 70-77MM and maybe a 100 shot of NOS if im lucky enough to get it
Wow that looks like a old set of black jack headers I had those in the late 70s only ones I ever seen with square collector flanges the motor sounds nasty.
As those would try and start the engine to find out if its going to run while on an engine stand as once in the car if something goes wrong the engine has to come back out to get rectrified.
For some reason when an Engine spins over on a stand everybody there FORGETS the headers are Hot and they rush the engine! The sound and smell of sizzling Skin soon follows!!😂😂😂😂
I totally want a cam like this in my 305, but don't want to beef up the rest of the bottom end. can I still put a higher lift in it? I believe its got 204* lift, I want like a 230-250* lift. thanks and awesome video!
There's a hell of a lot of issues with BTU rating and that maximum burn off as in burning the gas that's honestly being sent into the cylinders so reaching maximum BTU rating and preventing biohazard issues ecosystem of course they remove the lead from gasoline but let's get to the ignition issue 1 ABC let's get to the ignition issue energy
Could have built the 598 632 735 and now there's a lot of big blocks you could have put in there if you went with a small motor thank you for the video

What's the compression ratio on this stock engine 🤔
.620 solid Comp Cam. '68 Corvette heads, 11.1 compression. Thanks
Hell yeah !!
Jesus that’s a lot of lobe lift
what cam is that and how did it perform?
@@arixp9092 That's not a lobe lift number, it's a valve lift number.
620 isn't very crazy. Life numbers don't mean everything. Its a whole combination of lift duration lobe separation overlap. ect
We filled the motor with water just before we started it. It was fine for no longer than we ran it. Thanks liquidrum7
A single tear rolled down my cheek. I need that for my 53 ford, who cares if it's a chevy motor in a ford, my 239 flathead isn't going to cut it.
Oh, I love a '53 Ford! My Dad bought one brand new. Cool cars. Thanks.
53 fords are very cool. Ford motors arent. That thing sounds awesome.
Ive got a 302 in my 86 bronco but id love to put a 327 in it just for fun
Sounds like a bunch of lies. Chevy is NOT better then Ford.
Both motors do the same shit. No one is better then the other. I hate this false information about who’s better. You all are just band wagoners who know shit about anything. Derrpy Derp than why don't Ford win Bathurst Australia
Brooo, who the hell dislikes this????? This sounds insane!
People who don't have a 468
Hybrid owners.
@Eddie McDowell trueee
Or a Import guy lol
People that know it’s bad to drop an engine or run it without H2O
Thanks Ryan. I usually fill the engines with water just before I start them. Lately I have attached a small radiator with an electric fan so I can let it run longer.
my luck that motor stand would have turned over on me while it was running
CARL SPURLIN Yeah Carl, we were STUPID and LUCKY. LOL ...Thanks, Me and #CoupeZilla
Yeah it was torquing over, I was a little nervous he was gonna over wrap it . The dang thing would launch to the moon.
That Chevrolet is making some hp!
That stand looks taller than most too...lol
Lol I hear you my luck it would have turned over AND caught fire 🔥😂😂
I love the sound of a cammed big block Chevy. I've never started an engine on an engine stand before. I've been afraid it might tip but I think I might try to start my next engine on an engine stand - though my engine stand has 4 legs.

a 3 legged engine stand at that, yikes
Yikes indeed with a big block. At least weld some legs to the engine mounts.
That’s too nice of an engine to do something crazy like you just did.
No coolant circulating around the bores.
Guy says "he filled the block with water, it will be ok" lol
Let him do what he wants..ignorance is bliss
Nice big block guys 2 thumbs up my dad and has been dragracing for many years he has past on now. Now I'm doing on my own good job on the big block gorgeous vette
Can’t get enough of the sound of a big block anything with a good cam
I just watched/listened to this video twice, and will surely be back for more. Thank you for posting!
Nothin beats the sound of a big block!
careful, that thing will turn that stand over! sounds good though
Sounds great! Running it on a regular stand is ballsy though!
1050 holley dom. are the shit.Never had a problem with one.
11.1 compression. It has the 1968 Corvette 427-435 hp closed chambered heads. Can't wait to get that thing in that Corvette of my Son's and feel the power. Thanks
Damn. Big Block Corvette, and a badass one at that. Very nice
Here is the deal.I am a Ford guy! But that thing sounds sick!!! Nice work. Credit is due.
Sounds GREAT! Be careful on that stand though.
Yes, that will be ONE exciting day for my Son and me. Thanks.
That is the sound of America!!! 🇺🇲
Nice sounding engine. But, yes, I second or third the comment on starting it on the engine stand and without water.
No need for water to just test start it, man the degree of stupid in comments is astounding
Yeah, that would be a good cam for your 305. Thanks for the comment.
Never thought a corvette would look so good with truck tires
That's a nice one guys. I have a 468 like that in my 68 RS SS Camaro with original M22 and 12 bolt posi.🥃😎👌
The cam is a Comp. .620 on a 110 lobe center. The heads are from a 1968 Corvette 427/435 tri-power set up. Should be a "Killer" combo. Thanks
square port?
When I was in Navy Nuclear Power School in Orlando in the early 80's, I had a' '73 Mach 351CJ/C-6/9", one friend had a '70 429CJ Torino, and another a '69 427/435 tri-power 'Vette, not stock, and w/ real sidepipes.
Baldwin motion was awesome, I lived close by
Any cam sounds wild through open headers
Not like that, they don't. A stock cam doesn't lope.
No they don't
Wow, you all beat me to it. Good work, men.
Bullshit factory cam will sou d like a tractor period
No. Shit cams sound like a basic mercury boat engine
All but fires twice on every rev P/M :)
Work of art Gents!
You got to love the sound of a big block
that motor sounds fucking awesome. its like a symphony of horsepower and torque
That is hard to answer. We have owned this motor since back in the mid 80's and had it freshened up in the late 90's, so I have lost touch of really how much all the machine work etc. has gone up since then. Man at crazy putting that motor on a three-legged motor stand
Wow that is one hell of an engine. Never heard one like that one before.
Sounds beautiful!
Thank you martabus1
Walk around Jeff lutz new 57
You really have faith in that engine stand
Yes, 1050 Dominator. It is an awesome carb.
What's a carb????? Who uses those anymore?
@@bluesky-ud9wg lol I love your reply. Especially having 1986 in your name.
You always have the nastiest big blocks!
If you are going to cruise it at all the 450 gears are really low unless you have about a 30-33 inch tall tire. 370- 410 would be all you would need. Powerglide is good if built right.
454, .060 over, 632 solid cam, '68 427-435 hp. heads, 1050 holley dominator, roller rockers, etc. Thanks.
What insane exhaust? Open headers been around a long time.!
Thanks Krazy. Yeah, my Kid is so excited about this whole project.
The Chevy big block my favorite motor...aka the beast...
Well I hope you like detonation....because your probably gonna have plenty of it with that much compression and iron heads....i smell high octane race fuel or octane booster in your future...tho you might squeak by with backed off timing and 93 octane....never the less I'm sure it will be alot of fun! That startup gave me chills... I LOVE IT
I have seen guys start engines on stands online and wondered about it. In the car, I've had some engine that really rock the hell out of the frame - seems pretty darn solid though.
The most beautiful sound in the world. I think I got moist
That sound makes me very happy
Jason you are 100% correct. They are THE SHIT. Thanks
Man, you got a big pair of balls running that beautiful engine on that wimpy, wobbly three legged engine stand...I guess that you just love to take chances !!...I hate to even roll those around because they could fall over due to the very high CG....just my $.02 !
How about great job guys .... cool motor ..,.... Nice video , thanks for sharing....
Just wondering if you got it in the vette yet? My brother has one in his 67 ChevelleSS,, 570hp. Sets car alarms off just idling down the street. Great engine, nice vette, hope to see the results.
Canuck1232001 Yes, it is in the Vette, but not quite ready for the street. It won't be long. Thanks
some day if its possible i want a 402 bbc in a 80's c10. 33x10.5 slicks if i can find them and have a full one race truck. a mid sized single turbo, around 70-77MM and maybe a 100 shot of NOS if im lucky enough to get it
Sounds great thank👍. Good luck with it.
I like all trucks but chevy is amazing.
Looks like a front wheels up bullet!
Yeah I'd say pretty ball'see start'n that thing up on an engine stand but if it works it works and sounds good
Awesome set up looks good.
That Vette is gonna be a 🚀
That is called The Poetry of Pistons
Wow that looks like a old set of black jack headers I had those in the late 70s only ones I ever seen with square collector flanges the motor sounds nasty.
i would have been feeling the individual pipes to make sure all cyls were hitting good! at least it didnt hit the ground, wow!
Put down your beer and hit it Travis.
Nicccceeeeeeee! Have never seen one lit up a engine stand before. 👍💪
As those would try and start the engine to find out if its going to run while on an engine stand as once in the car if something goes wrong the engine has to come back out to get rectrified.
That would be a killer truck engine in this form or setup more for truck duties.
I found my new ring tone
Love that exhaust cackle!
Bob Smith Thank you Bob.
Header is dented! Sounds great!
That was over 9urs ago those headers and motor is long gone by now bird brains😂
what makes it sound so nice?
Nice ring to my ears Sounded Great
Stand made me nervous but she sounds great man!!!
sounds amazeing good job lads
High octane jiffy pop with that sir
now, that is one healthy sounding thumper. i hope you do a driving vid with it in the vette.
Sounds strong, nice work guys
Sounds the best what are some of the specs
Sounds very nice hope it doesn't topple over.
For some reason when an Engine spins over on a stand everybody there FORGETS the headers are Hot and they rush the engine! The sound and smell of sizzling Skin soon follows!!😂😂😂😂
"go ahead an hit it, Travis"
I totally want a cam like this in my 305, but don't want to beef up the rest of the bottom end. can I still put a higher lift in it? I believe its got 204* lift, I want like a 230-250* lift. thanks and awesome video!
Boost Hound GP needsgood heads first
run it with no coolant... that'll work. advise, get a fat rad. w/ electric fans if u can fit. rear cylinders overheat if you stay under 40
So it's basically a detuned ISMA motor?
There's a hell of a lot of issues with BTU rating and that maximum burn off as in burning the gas that's honestly being sent into the cylinders so reaching maximum BTU rating and preventing biohazard issues ecosystem of course they remove the lead from gasoline but let's get to the ignition issue 1 ABC let's get to the ignition issue energy
What is the duration on that cam and what LSA. Is it if you don't mine me asking motor really sounds crisp.
Easy Trav I’m looking at that jegs engine stand from 1982 and thinking yer about 1 good stab away from busting some fiberglass 🤪.
Yeah buddy! Sounds like its gargling steel ball bearings. 👍
cool!....love it man....big block Chevy...badass.
Could have built the 598 632 735 and now there's a lot of big blocks you could have put in there if you went with a small motor thank you for the video
It's a shame that running open headers on the street is frowned upon by some! All should enjoy the sound of a big block unrestricted!
Thanks for the great comment.
That engine wont over heat as long as its not ran on that engine stand for long periods of time. 30 seconds is fine.
solid flat or solid roller ?
Ryan, it is a solid flat tappet Comp Cam .632 lift...No roller. Thanks, Hotrod and #CoupeZilla
Dat 468 needs to report to duty in my CTS V, PRONTO!
In the direct fire of that flex plate no thanks and get an engine cradle too.
NO Oil Pan? Is it a dry sump? 🤔
