Broken Rice was my first Vietnamese dish then Pho. I now grow Daicon radish and pickle and Vietnamese Mint and cook a lot of Vietnamese and Thai dishes. Very delicious 😊

My son started cooking at age 8...He enjoys cooking, tasting food, he even come up with new ideas. He's really passionate when it comes to cooking. His favorite dishes are anything with tofu, eggs, and bamboo. I'll have him try making this dish next.

In the States you can find bagged broken rice at international markets, like Maxim, Korean Korner, India Bazzaar. and others. I use it for African rice dumplings, puddings and porridge.
Very nice recipe. I have two questions. Should the protein portions be smaller when compared with the vegetables added to the dish (for dietary balance)? Can I use whole rice grain? I do not understand the objective of breaking it nowadays.
You can slice the pork chop thinner and add more lecttuce/veggie etc. You can use whole grain rice. Broken rice is loved because of its unique texture. But it has lower nutrition content than normal rice. You don't have to break the rice if you don't want to. We just do it so that we can call it Com tam LOL

This was one of my favorite dishes as a kid but the vermicelli with spring roll combine with 3 color desert was best.
