    Helen, This is my most favorite Vietnamese dish. I use it as a standard when I go to a new Vietnamese restaurant. I know how it tastes in Vietnam, so I compare the original Vietnamese version, to the ones we have in America, but not really the same. Thanks for all your recipes, and videos.

    This is basically my favourite dish at my favourite Vietnamese Restaurant in Calgary Alberta!!!! I always wondered what the sauce they bring to you was. I just add the whole thing cause if you don't the noodles are so very bland. They just called it Grilled Pork and Spring Roll Vermicelli but its my favourite dish they have.

    This is literally one of my favorite things to eat. After moving from the Bay Area to a place w/ no Vietnamese restaurants, I became obsessed with reproducing this dish at home. Eventually I ended up spending time in Vietnam. Love love love bun thit nuong and bun ga nuong!

    This looks amazing in collage my friends from Vietnam and the Philippines and some other friends from different states in the U.S. would get together every weekend and we would cook. Each of us would take turns cooking food from our regions and teach each other how to make the recipe. This was one of my favorites cannot wait to make it again for my family.

    Tried this a few months ago. Very delicious and very light, full of flavors!! Please try when you can! If you don't want the meat she has (though I would recommend it), you can try bacon, ham, or even Asian meatloaf!

    • @LopsidedCircle
      @LopsidedCircle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      wtf please do not suggest people to try this with bacon. pork shoulder is cheap and it makes it delicious!

    • @sxnkxnrxck

      I can suggest...and you don't have to. Simple :)

    • @LopsidedCircle
      @LopsidedCircle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      sxnkxnrxck you don't know anything about the recipe or the culture so stop making suggestions out of your butt

    • @LopsidedCircle
      @LopsidedCircle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      sxnkxnrxck it's actually insulting and rude bc ppl will make it and think they're making vietnamese food and it's actually gross

    • @sxnkxnrxck
      @sxnkxnrxck 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I truly think that a suggestion is not rude at all. But if you truly think that it is, I'm sorry it seemed that way. But this is just like any other food where if you don't have the necessary ingredient or if you don't like it, you really can just substitute it for something else. I honestly don't see why this would be "rude" since I am not trying make people think this isn't Vietnamese by suggesting things.
      I don't understand why people are so bored to the point where they would be offended by a harmless suggestion.

    From what I've researched, the sauce started off as more of a liver and ground pork based sauce w chopped peanuts. Then people started putting peanut butter in it instead of chopped peanuts, so it was a liver/pork and peanut sauce. Then when it came to the US they took the liver out, bc it was either they were trying to make a veggie friendly version, or it was hard to find pork liver in American grocery stores, or they wanted to water it down to make it friendly to the American pallet *rolls eyes*. So the sauce morphed into modern day hoisin peanut sauce.
