Perfect timing on this video! I just started transitioning from 800m training and workouts to 1600m training and workouts for my 1600 at county qualifiers in a few weeks
I’m 23 now. At 18 I was smoking and ran a mile around 13 minutes. This year I quit drinking and smoking and I started runners. I just ran a mile at 8 minutes and 35 seconds. I’m seeing progress and I’m tryna get better. I’m running tomorrow so I am setting the goal for 8 minutes and 20 seconds. But if I can do better I def will try.
@@GarbageGamer-fz8tz my best mile is 7:30. I’ve ran 2 5Ks so far. One with 1400 people and I came in 183rd. Then on New Year’s Eve out of 45 people I came 6th with being 3rd best male. I can now run 5 miles consecutive. The progress is there. But I got a long way to go but I’m proud of myself.
I've been running for about 3 weeks. I'm quite unfit my best is 9:14. Lots of room to grow it seems. Very keen on getting to 8mins. Cold weather hits me and I'm crippled
@@lucianavila-gatz4667 i gave up during the cold weather, till February instead opting for weight training at the gym. I am now however running longer distances on a regular basis, did my first 10k back in May it took me 42:54. I've since managed to shave it down to 41:38 Which I can't say I'm angry about my mile however is about 7:00 depending on the weather.

Thats when it gets impossible. took me like 3 months to get out of the 6 min mark. now im stuck at 5:50 and i cant get out after 3 months. i dont know what to do. my goal is 5:30. im so close, but i need guidance. this video didnt help lol. it was just and ad for his app.
This is exactly what I needed because for this track season I've hit the same mile time 3 times in a row 5:13 and I've hit a plateau and can't get faster
Definitely think the mile should be a more common road racing distance, most people would probably have a lot more fun training for a mile than a marathon.
I agree, for road racing it seems that 1 miles are generally for younger kids, but I think it'd be really fun to have one set up for whoever wants to do it and make it more standardized (like the 5k)
@insanity man, most 11 year olds these days spend so much time indoors playing video games, the fact you are even running is great to see! And in just 18 months i got my mile time down from 7.32 to 5.52. You got this👊

Eventually you'll want a pair of XC spikes and a pair of mid-distance spikes, but if you had to pick just one I would go with an XC spike and use it for everything

I run a sub 6 and personally I do a lot of distance training, intervals, and 400 meter sprints. You should definitely do sprints one day, the next day do distance with some hill sprints, and the other day do some tempo runs on a track or trail increasing your speed and decreasing every 30 seconds for 20 to 30 min.
First XC season went from (2 mile) 12:30’s to 9:30s… just finished my track season and I did 9’s for the 2 mile… spent the whole season trying to get under 8 for the mile and I did 8:07 twice 🫠 so hard but I’m still trying

I’m 12 and my mile is 8:15 when you start your mile if your going to start by jogging just keep jogging and then when your about to finish the mile run as fast as you can.

But this is my first track season, my freshman year of high school, and my second race is coming up this week and im kind of nervous about it. On my last track meet I was able to run a 6:36 and am hoping to be able to improve over time as the season prgresses. I also wanted to thank you, as this video helped me a lot!
idk what went wrong on my second time running a mile. First time I ran it in 5:50 but the second time I ran it my head and heart started hurting in the second to last mile and my head felt like it was gonna explode by the time I finished and I ended up taking 8 minutes.
Not compared to any of these guys but it’s a pretty okay time. My time in 6th grade was absolutely garbage and I’m in 8th and my time is a bit faster than yours so I think your time is pretty good

Back to the you can’t run a mile in a good time if you run one mile a day all out I have a funny story about my coach. He didn’t even run in high school he actually played baseball and won a college World Series. He ran a mile for like 30 straight days and ran like 4:40. Dudes an incredible athlete but again not recommended like you said💀
