Thank you so much for this video. Was out with my little girls and this happened(Exactly), barely made it home. I was going to buy a new throttle body($250). Then I sat down one more time and searched up my issue. I have a 2011 silverado that was doing the same thing.Took it to the dealership and they replaced the ECU, The Throttle body and the gas pedal still no fix. Then they replaced the wires from the throttle body to the ECM.It worked for a week but went back to doing the same thing.Took it to another mechanic (lost faith in the dealership) he worked on it and it worked for another 2 weeks then did the same thing except then you would have to hold the key in the start position for about 3 seconds before it would crank. Super common the eyelet rots off them where they attach to the back of the cylinder head I spent a long time on a Silverado the first time I ran into this problem now when customers come in and explain there problem to me if they have that era truck almost every time it’s that ground. I’ve seen it probably 30-40 times now over that last ten years. It’s crazy how that one little ground causes all those problems

Hmm, sounds like the same issue I've been having for years and still having. I have a 2006 Silverado truck and before I started getting reduced engine power, I had for years the dash saying, "Service Brake System." Here I am years later and now I'm getting reduce engine power but what I have noticed is when it happens, I just pull over and restart the engine and the truck works as normal again. I don't have the noise that this truck experience. The only symptom I experienced was that my speed would just reduce to a much slower speed. I noticed this would happen more often when I would travel great distances not necessarily due to hitting a bump. Do you think I could still have the same issue with a ground wire?
I've redone every ground on my Tahoe and still problems.. I was never able to find that one, and my vortec cover don't come off.. I didn't realize the nut stays on the cover.. lol will try that before ABS wheel sensor and ebcm fix..
I have a 2007 Yukon xl apparently when I drive it like 20 minutes power reduce down idle issue n etc but when I push the gas won’t do nothing unless ,I turn it off n wait 20 minutes I’ll work perfect but after another 20 minutes it does the same issue I had change the throttle body still doing the same thing what could it be .Thank you
Started my 2017 Silverado last night and it did this. However, I think mine is tied to something else. I used a fuse tap from a constant power cicuit (BCM I think) to run a circuit for my dashcam. I think the fuse tap may have created an issue to where it doesn't get a good connection in the fuse slot sometimes. My first problems I noticed was that my remote start wasn't working, windshield washer fluid pump wasn't working and I was getting O2 sensor faults. Wiggling on the fuse tap made the issue go away. When this reduced power issue happened last night, I wiggled a lot of my fuses and the issue went away. Not sure which one remedied the issue, but I'm guessing it was the BCM circuit I had issues with before.
WTF!! I'm so excited I came across this. I have been trying to find out why my suburban does this. I'm gonna try it out and if it solves the issue, I am buying you dinner.
Awesome video! My 05 has been driving me crazy saw this video found a black wire coming out of the harness with a little white tracer I’m assuming that’s the ground wire that is broken and I’m going to try it soon as I get home from work thank you for the help
I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 WT with the 4.3L Vortec engine and it started stumbling and sometimes the engine would die only when I'd hit a certain type of bump in the road, otherwise the truck runs perfectly normal, the only codes I'm getting is Service Airbag. I 've yet to actually get my test light and scanner out and start looking for the problem, but I've been suspecting a faulty Mass Flow Air Sensor or fuel pump, the truck has over 260K miles on the original engine and fuel pump, what gets me is the fact that this truck doesn't have an external replaceable fuel filter. I will trace out the fuel relay ground wire, along with the other grounds.
I have a 04 Chevy 2500hd 6.0, I’ve always ran into reduced engine power for about 2 years, I’ve cleaned all of the grounds checked them all, put a new throttle body, new gas pedal assembly with sensor, the pigtail for the throttle body, new fuel pump, and went out and got a pcm and had it programmed to my truck and I still keep running into this problem, the only code I get when it goes into reduced engine power is p2135, does anyone have any ideas of what it might be? I’ve done a ton of research and can’t get it
Any update on this. I have the exact truck you explained, and all the same problems.ive done alot of grounding work. Specifically the one in this video, ans I thought it fixed it, (for about a day), then problem came right back. Did you get your issue fixed? If so how? Thanks.
My 2006 silverado is doing this. The wire you found is not the problem on mine. I need more info on all those additional grounds you ran yourself.... what all did you ground and how?
Thanks for the great info , but did some one knows from where is that wire come from? i would like to know the circuit diagram explaining what was this wire doing , that way it can help looking for that cable in others gm truck models ,thanks.
I never had this problem with my '99, all the trucks after the square front end redesign seem to be riddled with problems that my early round body is not plagued with.
My father has had the same issue with his Colorado which is a vortech engine as well and his was the electric throttle body had to be replaced which had to be reprogrammed too
Thanks for the video although mine has a code for the pedal actuator. I think after I went through the car wash it happened. May have a water leak at the windshield or cowl. Fun times!
I don't believe it should be 12v because that's the ground for the tps sensor. Which the perimeters for that sensor are I think 4.7-5.5 so that should be a good reading.

I have a 2007 Yukon xl apparently when I drive it like 20 minutes power reduce down idle issue n etc but when I push the gas won’t do nothing unless ,I turn it off n wait 20 minutes I’ll work perfect but after another 20 minutes it does the same issue I had change the throttle body still doing the same thing what could it be .Thank you
Thank you, just started having this issue will check the ground!
Hopefully that is all it is. There are so many things that could cause the reduced power issue.
I’m having the same problem. I will give this a shot!!
Omg you have that old school soldier...how cool
Awesome! I hope it works for your vehicle!
Awesome video! My 05 has been driving me crazy saw this video found a black wire coming out of the harness with a little white tracer I’m assuming that’s the ground wire that is broken and I’m going to try it soon as I get home from work thank you for the help
Thank you very much your video still saving lives and money 🙏
Thanks so much for this video! Fixed my employers 3500!
I got a Chevy Express van ang it worked thanks a lot
03 sierra
Same issue legend you are sir
Do I have to Sauder it or can I just twist them together with another wire with black electric tape?
I like people that use solder
I well do this on my yukon xl 2003. 👍.
It worked. 👍
I have the same exact issue and I cleaned all the grounds I could find. But I cannot find the ground you changed in this video 😞
The one giving me the problem was on the back of the passenger side head.
intermittant intake sensor message have you come across this message and remedy?
I have a 04 Chevy 2500hd 6.0, I’ve always ran into reduced engine power for about 2 years, I’ve cleaned all of the grounds checked them all, put a new throttle body, new gas pedal assembly with sensor, the pigtail for the throttle body, new fuel pump, and went out and got a pcm and had it programmed to my truck and I still keep running into this problem, the only code I get when it goes into reduced engine power is p2135, does anyone have any ideas of what it might be? I’ve done a ton of research and can’t get it
For my Yukon the coolant sensor was the culprit. It would run my Yukon rich and that reduce engine light would come on. Goodluck man.
@@bugzy2218h thank you man, I’ll have to try that
Any update on this. I have the exact truck you explained, and all the same problems.ive done alot of grounding work. Specifically the one in this video, ans I thought it fixed it, (for about a day), then problem came right back. Did you get your issue fixed? If so how? Thanks.
@@anyandalldiy6704 my truck does it every once in a while so I’m not quite sure
@@anyandalldiy6704 did you find out what yours was
Thank you so much for the help on this, does the engine light ever come off?
My 2006 silverado is doing this. The wire you found is not the problem on mine. I need more info on all those additional grounds you ran yourself.... what all did you ground and how?
Thanks for the great info , but did some one knows from where is that wire come from? i would like to know the circuit diagram explaining what was this wire doing , that way it can help looking for that cable in others gm truck models ,thanks.
Having the same issue (2010 Chevrolet Silverado) but I can’t find that black wire to see if that is what the issue is.
Did you find the wire (problem). I'm having the same issue. I have an 08 chevrolet avalanche..
I replaced my throttle body harness cleared codes runs great
Man you are a lifesaver thank you
I never had this problem with my '99, all the trucks after the square front end redesign seem to be riddled with problems that my early round body is not plagued with.
Never had these issues when vehicles had actual throttle cables running to the throttle body. ALL electronics fail eventually.
That just happened to me today same truck but done up thanks man your great help
My father has had the same issue with his Colorado which is a vortech engine as well and his was the electric throttle body had to be replaced which had to be reprogrammed too
Where can I get programmed
@@albertquintero5412 any mechanic shop with a high tech scanner
@@hussein5743 yea I went but I feel like the mechanic didn’t do it he just checking on scan tool but yea I got check code p2135 kinda pissed about it
@@albertquintero5412 to be fair there are some shops full of idiots so id check with a more reputable shop
@@hussein5743 I think I found one that gonna diagnosis my truck i hate getting limp mode
Thanks for the video although mine has a code for the pedal actuator. I think after I went through the car wash it happened. May have a water leak at the windshield or cowl. Fun times!
I done the exact same thing still have reduce power issue. I tested that ground and only getting around 5.5 volts should it be around 12v.
I don't believe it should be 12v because that's the ground for the tps sensor. Which the perimeters for that sensor are I think 4.7-5.5 so that should be a good reading.
I was just out your way at clear lake state park last weekend I was thinking about hitting you up but figured it might be weird lol I’m the guy who bought your 3 wheeler Honda 110 a few years back
Oh right on! We bought a new place right on 32 now. just east of Vienna. How's everything on your side of the state?
Santer Auto Repair LLC everything is good we just bought a new place as well it’s been a busy year that’s for sure
I have a 2003 tahoe z71 I'm having the same problem when I hit a bump in the road I went under my hood looking for that cable but can't find it plz help me locate this
@@josephandalcio421 I just had that problem yesterday and came across this video this morning, please let me know when you find out where to find that wire to fix it please.
@@perezfamily2861 I think I found it but I'm gonna wait till the reduce engine power comes back on again. It extremely strange how minds comes & goes
I have a 2007.5 GMC Sierra The reduced power comes up and I have no throttle after it comes up turn it off let it sit for a few then it goes back to working then comes back and 2 p2138 codes show up any help would be great
For the P2138 code, the most common fault listed on Identifix (for your vehicle) is the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor. That being said, it could be an intermittent wiring issue. But it's likely the sensor.
Hey I have a 2003 chevy silverado. I just replaced the MAF and the throttle body....it got dark on me so I was not able to check anything out. How do I clear the check engine light and the reduced engine power? Should this auto clear? Do I need to reset the idle? If so, how? Thanks!! Your videos great by the way! Good job! 👍 My dad was a mechanic so I remember a little bit....but we have no contact and I replaced this myself. So...any helpful hints would be great! Thank you!! 😊
Yes! This video just saved my day!
Great catch, But what was the wire connection to?? Ignition??
I have a '04 Escalade. I shall try this. Thank you sir! Blessings! Thank you thank you thank you. I'll let you know if it works 🤣. I saw the same wire loose but didn't realize that could be it! Let me try! 🤣
I ha e an 04 escalade with this problem too....but only on start up, not on bumps. Let me know what you found!
My Chevy Avalanche Reduced Engine Power light came on this morning. Never had an issue before. Was having trouble with it starting so i think I may need a new battery, but didn't know if the battery may be causing that to happen as well? What do i know? I am trying this when I get home from work to see if it fixes the issue.
My 03 Tahoe is doing the same thing. Really slow and weak start and battery keeps dying. Says reduced engine power when started
Thanks bro! I just had to re-tape mine!
I fucking love TH-cam 🙏 thanks a ton!
Thank you sir , I fixed my big problem , thank you for share , blessings!
Mine just did this this morning reduced power and check engine light came on would the ground be the same issue I just replaced my plugs and wires last week my buddy said it could be a plug or wire that came loose why the power loss light came on any help please liked and subbed
Hey, I'm broke down working out of town. I can't find that wire but I wiggled that harness and my gauges stopped, now if I turn the key on my 4wd lights and doors and everything works but when I start it they all stop. Do you think it could all be one problem? Thank you so much
I’m having a similar problem with my 8.1 vortec losing power to the cluster and going into limp mode. Do you know if this is a similar problem!
My 01 Tahoe loose voltage when stopped ... Do you think it has something to do with ground... Already replaced alternator and battery
Hello my issues is that when I'm towing or going up hill if I step on the pedal and trying to Accelerate kinda hard the reduce power come on I just pull over trun off what a minute and it's gone I have to baby the pedal if I'm pulling alot of weight and I have a brand new throttle body? Is that normal? truck drive good with out the weight I could actually step on it or I'm not using the lower gears to help with the weight?
what kind of wire did you use
