Couldn’t figure this out for weeks! Had to disconnect the negative on the battery everywhere I went!! Killed my battery one day and didn’t realize until the new one that the lights were stuck on. Just fixed it in 2 mins with this video. Thank you!
This video was super helpful. I literally disconnected my battery because I had no clue how to turn off the brake light any other way. Nowadays it takes forever just to get an appointment with a service shop, because of all the backlog of motorists who postponed service during the pandemic. It's unsafe to drive around with your brake light on, not to mention the drain on the battery. Thank you, brother! 🤙
Awesome! I just got back home on a Saturday night and realized my brake lights were stuck on. Figured it was the brake switch and was about to just pull the battery cable. But thought I Google it just to see if I could find a shortcut fix and sho' nuff. Good eye spotting the green stuff on the floor board and pointing it out in the video. I looked down on my floor mat and there was a mess of green shrapnel all over. It's like that little green spacer just exploded. I had to replace the entire front grill on my truck and the interior door panels so I had bought a 40 piece variety pack of push type retainer and fastener clips. Just so happened to have a 6.5mm retainer clip in the pack that pushed right into the hole on the brake pedal swing arm and it's actuating the switch again. Thnx for the vid!
Brudda! Thanks for posting this vid! Found an extra pad behind my clutch pedal too. It cracked a little during the drop in, but it's got enough stem to keep the lights from engaging when I'm not inside. Thanks for the part reference too. Already ordered a new one, for a better fix. And yea, lol, never trust the autozone rep on the small stuff. One size fits all, don't fit on Tacomas!
Nice video. I am fairly mechanically inclined but thought to check TH-cam to see if anyone already charted this path. Bingo! Very glad you took the time to post. Many thanks.
Bro, this video was a life saver! I literally had to do the rigged fix in a parking lot at the mall so my battery didn’t die! Thanks for making quality content!
Watchin to keep up with the channel! Yessa bradah keep the vids comin! Having a first gen to just makes this channel even better for future problems that may occur i would know where to go to🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you for the video , I had the same problem with my Taco , green piece broke and I was clueless , my first thought was TH-cam and your video was on top of the list.
I have this problem RIGHT NOW and this video is a God Send. I don't know if it's the same issue, but I hope it is. I can't afford to put the truck in the shop. I can't afford to have a dead battery either.
Nothing wrong with fixing cars/truck. Sure it's a hassle and time consuming. But when you yourself fix the issue...gold medal bro👌 best feeling and accomplishment
Yep, I feel you on that one brotha! “Anyone can buy a new car/truck and slap parts on it, but not everyone can breathe life into an old one.” Remember that! Haha How’s your truck coming along btw?!

@@fortunestatushawaii a bit shorts on funds. But hoping and working on get a new income 👌👌🤣🤣 no worries I will keep you updated when it starts coming along👍👍👍
I used one nut and bolt from ace hard ware cost me 30cents. Forever solid fix on my Fj cruiser brake pedal lol hopefully the metal bolt making contact on the plastic button on brake switch no break anything lol
Where would we be without TH-cam ? Thank you for this video ! My brake light was stuck on, figured it was this mechanism as something similar happened with my motorcycle (much easier to reach than under the dash and between foot pedals😳). I discovered the green pieces after watching your video. For now I used the two nickels taped together solution suggested by linabeckford5771. Had to reconnect the battery, start the truck so I could press the pedal far enough. Works great, those nickels ain’t goin anywhere. I will keep a 10mm crescent wrench in the truck just in case I have to disconnect the battery again…😉 For now, your reward is just my subscribing to your channel. Hope that’s ok. Thank you all the way from Kaua’i, Hawaii !
Hahaha nice! Glad to hear you found your problem and know I helped someone lol. So what did you do? The temporary fix or were you able to get the actual pad 😂
@@fortunestatushawaii temp fix for now, my coworker came to me and said “your brake lights are on” hahaha then I remembered you posted a video about something like that😂 thank god for you brotha😂

Hellsss yeah!!!!!!
Thanks fam! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Poke a hole through the washers/tape. The tit on the brake cylinder will hold the washers in place.
Good tip!
The part cost less than $3 at your local Toyota dealership. The hardest thing is lining up the rubber part.
Monthly payment means cannot build trucks 😂
Exactly 😂😭
Just buy band new bro lol 😂
I wish haha! Tacoma, tundra, or 4Runner? 🤔
@@fortunestatushawaii go for the brand new 2022 Tundra 4x4 bro. Electricians get paid plenty lol 😂
