It amazes me that Ross did the voice of the Vortigaunt there. It sounds absolutely nothing like him, which is impressive, considering most voice actors have difficulty hiding a bit of their base voice. Seriously, holy shit.
Brings into mind the otherwise too familiar Steve Blum. Who would have thought superlative English dub Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop and the voice of Wolverine in most X-Men animations and video games can nail the likes of the young hacker "phenomenon" the Laughing Man from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and camp gay yet super smart and awesome Leeron from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan.
It might help that vortigaunt has slurring drunkard voice. Vortigaunt talks in different manner and vocabulary which is bigger thing than actual voice it uses. Still very good from amateur.
That actually never crossed my mind until now. Having a character with a dubious past with cats has been a script idea I've had since back in high school and this was a chance for me to use it.

Breen's speech during water hazard said "some of the worst excesses of the Black Mesa Incident have been placed directly at his feet" meaning it's a historical event that everyone knows about even citizens and CPs. Black Mesa East is different sure but there's no way the combine didn't know about the existence of the rebels

After killing them the CP trucks show up and attack. I'm pretty sure that call for backup was the squad heading over. Small touches like that make this series so fun to watch.

Considering that "Civil Protection" supposedly takes place "a couple years" after the invasion of the Combine I could only imagine where MIke and Dave went in the next 20-11 years when Gordon Freeman practically rebels the entire human race against the Combine. Considering both characters are certainly in their mid-to-late 20's in or around the early-2000's and at the latest the late-2000's then both would be around their late-30's, early-40's, mid-40's or late-40's depending on when Half-Life 2 takes place in the 2020's.
