Thanks for all the positive feedback people. And no this wasn't stop motion, it's a lot of tweaking of Valve's animations from the Source SDK. What really makes me like this, is it doesn't have nearly as much funding, or as big of a team working on this show, as Red vs Blue does. However, even without nice funding, and amazing animators, this Civil Protection show is STILL AWESOME! Imagine the kind of fantastic stuff we'd get if Ross had funding, popularity, and a better network of people to call on for assistance.
Well I've started on Ep. 5 and I have ideas for more. I'm trying to get a team together so I can make these faster. Really the only thing discouraging me from making more is all the animation that has to be done with it. The more help I can get with that, the faster these will come out.
I used the Source SDK to make this. I did the motion blur by recording the material at a higher framerate than downsampling it. Part of it was done with an AVS script in Virtualdub, the other part was a Premiere plugin.
crockettjvinson: Yeah, I record it at a really high framerate (since it's not in real-time), then downsample that to get the motion blur using Virtualdub scripts. cardinalis: It's just HL2 single player and the SDK.

OMG WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIS LEGS ON THE TRAIN!!?!?! it's a issue with the source engine, a NPC with custom animations and AI ontop of a moving object can cause animation glitches as the NPC is trying to keep up
+Flajarkin also if you're on an object moving incredibly fast it's a good idea to lean into the wind so you don't go flying backwards as easily, and to make sure your footing is stable (you would probably end up shifting one foot several times during the ride to maintain stable and safe footing)

I think Dave and Mike are the reasons the Combine later enforced memory expulsion. Mike or Dave mentioned how the Combine came around "a few years previously" meaning that "Civil Protection" takes place just about 16-17 years before Half-Life 2. I wonder where they went in the following 20 years.

The PC specs don't really matter because this isn't recorded real-time, it uses the Source Recorder, which can output every frame.
