I used to play a Aria Pro II Thor sound, and many years later I heard this guitar tone, and I thought "well that definitely rings a bell"... I don't know what they have or how they do it, but it just pushes me to believe their instruments are quite unique in sound : the guitar was Aria make too... As for the quality, well... I started with that fretless bass I mentioned, and never got put off it one sec, even though the perspective of a fretless could be intimidating to some. It definitely was a treat.

If I'm not mistaken Cliff actually played a SB R-60 Black n' Gold and not a SB-1000 so for those who want a bass like Cliff I'd suggest looking for a SB R-60 and not a SB-1000 if your trying to get extremely close to his Master of Puppets tone

davormaricic Are they genuine? Or rip-offs?

    • @davormaricic
      @davormaricic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@charlielucas3386 there are no rip-offs nor knock-offs of Aria Pro II instruments as I know, but there really are neglected or sometimes mislabelled models (as there is no model on SB-series, but it is easy to recognize) - and there are the ones with replaced pickups or some other parts.
There are genuines with repaired pickup, but I always saw it labelled by the seller.
sometimes there are SB with completely wrong pickup or hardware, but those are easy to spot ar SB hardware are pretty unique. There are groups on facebook (Aria Pro II SB basses) where you can find a lot of info.
And SB-1000 is very unique in its appearance - first (batwing), second or newer versions, so it is easy to find.
I bought 15+ SBs online and I never had a problem, all sellers were friendly and truthfully, I restored them and pick the best for myself, as I can`t afford big collection (as I wish), so even this 1983 will go soon.
But I didn`t came to solicitate!
There are few Aria Pro II SB basses in action, so check these videos.
If you need any help, please feel free to ask me or FB group.

well seeing cliffs signature bass being played with a pick ...huum...don't seem right. u should of played some of cliffs riffs...harmonics, Jaco wore that out
Jason Newsted used cliffs aria after he died, there's pics of him playing it inside the garage inc. booklet....that bass should of been with cliffs family. he owned a Rickenbacker 4001 and just 2 aria basses....in one live show on TH-cam his bass either the low E snapped or it went badly out of tune and he was given another bass, I believe it's from long Island in 86. u can hear he's suddenly out of tune, I think it was during the intro to creeping death
    whats the price??

Cliff used two different Aria sb models actually. In 85 where he got endorsed by Aria the first bass they sent to Cliff was an Aria Pro II SB-1000 in a gloss black finish which are pretty rare to find. That bass has an active pickup (needs two 9V batteries) and includes a third knob to change mid frequencies I think. Then later in 85 (like around fall) he was given the Aria Pro II SB Black n Gold which just has a passives pickup and the same specs shown in this video. The SB-1000 has the dot inlays while the SB Black n Gold has the cat eye inlays. Also to mention that the SB black n gold model is just based of the Aria Pro II SB-R60 with same specs and everything but in a black finish and gold hardware

what i dont understand is how is this a Cliff Burton "signature" bass?? seeing how hes been dead for a hundred years now..btw Burton didnt make the aria popular it was widely available in the '80s and could be had used for $100 all day long... yeah im that old

Apparently it has all the modifications he made to his bass incorporated with it out of the box so i guess you could call it a replica more than a signature

Playing with your fingers doesn't make you courageous, tough or brave mate.
You're just playing with your fingers.
      Thats it! 🤷‍♂️
