    You could buy a Yamaha motorcycle, a Yamaha BBne2, and get your drummer and singer gear for Christmas, and probably have money left over for insurance on the bike.

    I don't understand why so few manufacturers use filter based preamps. I mean, this vid clearly shows the massive tonal range that you can get: 2:22 bridge filter half = jazz, bridge filter full = warwick, neck half = p bass...

    someone please explain to me what is so great about these basses. just seems like too much excess, and the sound definitely isn't worth $11,000, nor is any guitars sound in my opinion.
    IMO, you could get a much better tone out of a Mexican Fender Jazz Bass for literally an 18th of the price.

    I'm pretty sure the chords in HOT FUN should be E-minor (12th fret E & G), down to B-minor (7th fret B & D), and then A-major (Open A, [A octave on 7th fret] and a C# (rolled from C on the G string) .... if memory serves. Cool tune, nonetheless

  • @el_wilder8860

    I was always under the impression and read that alembic does not make signature bass guitars from the point of view that professional artist can afford to buy their instruments and shouldnt get free gear. Thats Alembics motto.... they still build custom guitars and bass but the artist still has to pay for it. Read that on their website and biography on the company when I researched Alembic and got into the company back when Jason Newsted played Alembics in the late 80s early 90s.

    Beautiful instrument, but ridiculously overpriced!. Alembic are great basses, but do you honestly believe they sound and play worth 6 or 7 high end basses? Can you REALLY spot the diference in a recording from a very good bass that costs one motorcycle less....? Prolly not

    • @SonicXRage
      @SonicXRage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that the tone of an Alembic can be spotted from a mile away. I mean, which other bass sounds exactly like this? And how many basses have a Q knob? The Q knob alone is a major selling point: with one knob, you can easily get tone changes that are normally only possible when you use a particular kind of EQ pedal or even when you switch basses entirely. And, in my opinion, they also have an extremely unique, tasteful appearance; the options for the company logo on the headstock alone blow me away.
      Given their price, they're obviously not ideal for everyone. A lot of people decide that a Squire is all they'll ever need, but to me, as well as others, basses _are_ my motorcycles and I'd be happy to spend extra for a top-of-the-line model. Remember that, as bassists, we not only play with our ears, but with our eyes and hands as well: the only way to improve an already perfect-sounding bass is to make it beautiful and comfortable. Therefore, one can't judge a bass, or any instrument, based entirely on sound, unless that's the only thing he cares about.

    • @susieroberts8175
      @susieroberts8175 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ever played one? You can do things on an Alembic that you can't on other basses, they're so well made. It's an amazing experience! I have an '87 SC and it's a gamechanger.

    First off Marc. . I just want to make it clear that I'm not trying to be an asshole or a online jerk. I have always enjoyed your segments on TH-cam. And in no way am I suggesting that I'm at your level.
    But don't you think that with an instrument with such capabilities that it might be better to tune down to D?.. not drop D but a full measure down.
    That would give you more warmth and exploit all of the attributes of the bass especially when dealing with a 3/4 scale guitar like that one.
    Am I wrong?

    • @ryans9029
      @ryans9029 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tuning down with a shorter scale doesn't work real well. Generally you go with longer scales instruments when you plan on tuning lower than standard.

      Colin Stewart i like to cater the playing style to the bass. in this case, since the bass is the signature model of the great Stanley Clarke, i thought it'd be more than appropriate to play his most known tune as an intro.
      thanks for the input, though!

    • @josephdrach2276
      @josephdrach2276 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colin Stewart I could not agree more.I want to hear how the Bass Guitar being demonstrated sounds set for maximum bass tones,maximum treble tones and a mix of both,all played with fingers striking the strings.No Slap and Pop until I've heard it straight.After that,what about harmonics?What about other techniques?I know there is but little time in a demo but why so much slap and bang?
