    I'd also recommend getting an exhaust slider. It will stick out quite a lot, but it will prevent further damage to the exhaust.

      Awh, that sucks.😪 Hopefully it didn't do too much damage. I pick it up again in my crash bars video and it's is so much easier with crash bars😁 100% recommend

    It sucks dropping a bike. Fortunately I've only done it once while getting my license.
    A few tips though:
    1. When it's down that way, extend the stand before lifting. Then when you get it up it'll be right on the stand.
    2. It's all about technique, not very much strength.
    3. Lift mainly with your legs.
    4. When you start the lift, grab the handlebar and press back against the seat, then start lifting with your legs, but don't let go of the handle bar. Then it should go much easier.
    I miss my 500, which I sold last monday, but once the dealer gets my 1100 I'll be a happy as a clam :D It should be a week or so..

    Sorry for the mishap Andy, and glad you didn't get hurt. First let me say, I'm not very good with all your metric data, so I converted it to our Yankee methods.
    1st, I think you're 5' 1"
    2nd I think you weigh 104 lbs
    3rd your bike weighs 408 lbs.
    That's quite an accomplishment for someone no bigger than you are. So, I'm very impressed. You should join the women's Olympic Weight Lifting Team. Be very careful to not let that happen again, you could really hurt your back. The crash bars would provide a bit of a head start in the lifting process, but its still gonna be quite an effort for someone of your size. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.

    • @andymoto
      @andymoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dale! I'll need to improve my lifting technique first 😂 I think the crash bars will help but the aim is to not drop it again! Thanks for the conversions 🙂

    This what we all dread - but the bike can be repaired easier than the rider-- I did wait until I had fitted crash bars and bobbins before I started riding-- and hopefully save some damage if and when I drop the bike.

      Thanks, I haven't heard of the exhaust protector but that would have been very handy! :-) I have ordered some crash bars (video coming), but I'm not sure if the exhaust will still touch the ground if the bike falls over.

      @andymoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I know, watching this back I was thinking my poor bike 🤦‍♀️ I put in the description that this is not the best way to do it. In my crash bars video that's coming soon I pick up the bike again with a much better technique. Thanks for the feedback🙂

    One of the most embarrassing things to happen when riding a bike is stalling and dropping it while traffic😂

      🤣😂🤣 thanks! That's what motivated me to try this in the backyard 😂
      but now I've got the crash bars on I'm not really worried about not being able to pick it up (and get it started) if I do drop it again

  • @MissyMalaprop

    Your back was bent a lot... its hard to squat and try to keep your back straight and walk the bike up, but bent way over like that you can hurt your back.

    • @andymoto
      @andymoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I watched the video back and I couldn't believe how badly I lifted it! And yes, good point, I have crash bars now so it will be much easier to lift if/when it happens again. :-)

  • @bikedawg
    @bikedawg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some tips I found on youtube: 1: use something like string or velcro strap to depress and engage your front brake first so it prevents the bike from pivoting as you are lifting the bike. 2: Make sure you straighten the handbars square right after picking it up and certainly before mounting on it to prevent it from tipping.

    • @andymoto
      @andymoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Thanks for the tips! I've got my crash bars on now and picking the bike up is soooo much easier. My second attempt is much easier to watch lol Thanks 😀 th-cam.com/video/4GQUHvjTGdE/w-d-xo.html

    I laid my rebel down pretty hard hitting some gravel on a turn. My handlebars were the exact same and I thought they were bent too. I searched everywhere and this video was super helpful: th-cam.com/video/sjOmHwgIAcc/w-d-xo.html. It takes some force, but ended up working for me.

    • @andymoto

      It's funny you mention that, as after closer inspection it was the risers that had just moved. 🤦‍♀️ I talk about this in my next video. Thanks, what a helpful video!! It's a shame I didn't see it earlier! 😀
