I just got the 2023 Red as my first ever bike. Took it on my first ride the other day, I live at a lake, so a lot of empty back roads. Took it about 1 mile to this restaurant that is closed on Sundays and spent about 2 hours doing figure 8's in their parking lot. Practicing parking in their spots, they even have this little gravel road around the back that connects to the parking lot to practice different road mediums.
Very cool 😀 congrats on the new bike! Did you go with the cherry red or the bright red? I need to do more practice like that. I find the rebel is pretty slippery on some types of gravel, how have you found it? I might do a video on it soon, with the stock tyres
Not a cruiser guy,but the Rebel 1100T (DCT) has caught my eye, and after an hour horizontal on the dealer's floor, and speaking to a fabricator, a fuel cell can be made for below the seat...think I've found my touring bike, a capacity of 25litres would be ideal? Put the rear brake on the bars(CBF1000 master cylinder) and a smaller lithium battery, the way to go! That's your main components below the seat,rectifier can still stay where it is! P.S; Cover the bare skin on your back, if you go into a foot forward slide up the tarmac, your jacket will disappear up your back, I've had so much skin/flesh ripped off,I'm just passing on advice,from learning the sore way...bones ain't thick,and your spinal chord is in there...wishing you well,just an observation...regards!
Hi William! Thank you! I normally cover up my back to avoid getting sunburnt but didn't worry about it because it was getting late. But I see what you mean about safety. I have the matching pants as part of a two piece suit and they zip together so I should wear both all the time! I love the Rebel 1100 and a bigger tank would be really cool 😎 but I don't really know anything about those sorts of mods 🤔The Rebel 1100 has a bigger tank than the 500 but still only about 14 litres I think. The 1100T is a 'styling'. No other changes, like a larger tank, overdrive gears, or things that are usually common in touring bikes. It just hard bags and a more oversized cowl that will probably make the bike more comfortable on motorways :)
@@andymoto I mean, those hard bags look pretty cool, but I like my soft OEM bags. I got a kind of straight exhaust, so I also put a large bag on the right side. That's the only thing I don't like about any of the rebels (I had the 500, too), the exhaust is ugly, and you don't hear that fantastic sound those engines can make :)
I'm actually thinking of going for hard panniers 😂 and I really like the sound of the rebel 500 but i haven't heard any other exhausts so can't compare. At least there are some different options available 😀
@@andymoto It really depends on how you ride. My riding is usually max. a day and I just need to bring whatever supplies I need and then I end up at home same day. For real touring I thing hard bags are awesome 😁 The 500 sounds awesome. I got one with a baffle, that I first removed, but it was way too loud, so I put it back in. But it gains this beefy deep tone that you don't hear on the stock exhaust 😊

I put some Viking hard saddle bags, and a Memphis Shades batwing fairing on my Rebel 1100... those are already better than the 1100T options, so I'll stick with what I have.

Im getting the rebel 500 next year, if possible next month. Been thinking whether to take cb500x or rebel. But im on the short side at 5'5. I want to ride comfortably without tiptoeing. Been riding like that on my 200cc bike. I hate it even tho im used to it. I like touring, thats why i look at cb500x. But the height is my issue. Watching your video gives me the idea of how it handles. I think im sold to the rebel.
Yes, I think being able to flat foot a bike is sooooo important! Amanda Zitto @AstheMagpieFlies has a CB500X and is pretty short so you can make it work 😀 The CB500X also has cool luggage options so it's more practical especially if you're into taking trips but I would go with the bike you are comfortable with and just like the most. For me it's the Rebel 😍

Exactly, you can't go wrong! I love the look of the rebel and the seat height is so important to how the bike feels so for me it's an easy choice😍 I do like to take long trips though, so adventure bikes and luggage options are really cool but you can do long trips on the rebel and I'm going to put some hard panniers on my rebel anyway! Hi Sean! Thanks 😀 I think it's still available in some countries but for the last year or so in Australia you couldn't order in a brand new black rebel (so I'm told). And I think there was another country where you couldn't get the straight black either but there was a dark grey colour which was pretty close!
Hey nice content. I am between an Honda cb500x and a rebel 500 but I am not sure how well the latter behaves on trips without windshield over 120km/h. I also heard some comments about the suspension of the Rebel. What your thoughts?

The CB500X should be more versatile but there are a lot of mods you can do to the rebel to make it your own. I think choose the bike you like the most and are comfortable on. And ride safe 😎
What's the GoPro version on your helmet and it's battery capacity and where did you purchase the mounting tool from? I have the same Arai helmet. Thanks 👍
That's an old GoPro Hero 5 Black! My support crew thinks it's called a chin mount but you can make the same thing with a few short extension arms and a normal mount. It's all GoPro stuff except there are some Phillp's head screws instead of the bulky thumb screws. Love hose Arai helmets 😎
We have deer out here as well but they aren't very common. Roos and wallabies are everywhere though 🦘🦘🦘 People hit them all the time and they can do some nasty damage
I love my Rebel 1100. I have the DCT because I have issues with my left hand. I love it, but I must say that since the throttle by wire is so twitchy, it's taking me a bit more getting used to for slow speed maneuvers. U have to be really gentle on the throttle and use the rear brake instead of the clutch to control the power from the rear tire. Stay safe!

@@andymoto It more just something different to get used to but only with slow speed maneuvers. Motojitsu has some really good videos on slow speed maneuvers for DCT bikes though. Take care!
Swapped my Rebel 1100 out for a Triumph Bobber a couple of months ago, then i saw the 1100T version being announced, and now I sort of want that... *sigh*
Hello! Yeah the 1100T looks pretty cool, although the Triumph Bobber also looks cool... so that's a toughie. If you ever take the 1100T for a test ride let me know how they compare 😂
@@andymoto I guess the main difference is that one is very practical, and the other one is a looker, but oh so impractical. No passenger seat, no real luggage, no fairing etc on the Bobber, but damn it is a sexy bike. I do miss the Rebel 1100 from time to time, but still love the Bobber to death. And honestly, the Bobber is the better ride imho, more fun. Gets a bit old having to wear a backpack everywhere though, for my bits and bobs.
the big problem of rebel 1100, T or not, is mileage: around 257km (18,9km/1l and a 13.6l tank fuel capacity): not a touring mileage, a gas stations tour mileage.
Yes! the small tanks on the Rebels is a problem in remote areas without servos. Does the Rebel 1100 only get 18.9kms per litre? That's about 5.3L per 100kms. I was thinking (hoping) it would be less. In my Long Trip video I was only using just over 3L per 100kms on my Rebel riding around twisties and through towns 😀
@@andymoto The little 500cc has a better mileage (around 300km with 1 full tank) because better consumption. Mostly moder bikes has this problem: small tank. If consumpion is ok no problem, but over 4,5km/l should become a nightmare. My old (18yo) Honda CBF has a 18l tank, and i've a 300/350 km mileage (and last trip over 350km, but mostly highway), and for me is really hard to find a modern and decent bike as replacement, not only for milage, but because my kind of bike is no more, they do only ADV bikes, but i'm short only 165cm, so an ADV is out for me (except BMW F750GS, but who trust a bike with a made in china engine?). I see! I think the CB500F would be your best option, it has a 17.1 litre tank 😯 and has the economical 471cc engine 😀
