    one of the things I loved the most about italy was all the places there were to sit and rest. In the same settings that you are finding water fountains, I found benches and stone ledge just about everywhere to sit and catch my breath and watch the people go by, before getting back up and getting on with the adventure of the day! by the way, love your earrings!

    That of public water (“ L’acqua del sindaco“ as we sometimes call it) and its flavor has been a long debated topic. Of course for the environment water from the tap is by far the best solution.
    Also the water of the “acquedotto” is perfectly safe to drink and it is actually checked more often and thoroughly than mineral waters.
    There is, as we can read in many comments, an issue concerning the taste of water in some buildings or some neighborhoods of some cities.
    I live in a small village and water in small villages usually tastes quite good!
    But most of my friends who live in cities don’t have good water from the tap.
    In the last few years, in cities and villages alike, there has been a surge of “purified water dispensers“ where you can fill your empty bottles with water for a fraction of the cost of mineral water from the supermarket.
    You can also buy sparkling water there,
    And it’s really good!

    • @ioanapirate7537
      @ioanapirate7537 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, sometimes the issue is the building's plumbing. The sindaco looks after the tubes up to the building, but from there it's up to the owners of the building to keep the plumbing up to date. So the on street fountains can have better tasting water than tap water

    I love your channel! I am starting to understand the need for a car. I will be in Lecce (from the states) in a few weeks for 4 to 5 months in early December. Trying to get to Verona for Christmas and it is an art to figure out the taxis, buses, trains and flight options. Buses to the airport don’t run on days flights to Verona fly and on and on. But it will be a welcome adventure. A car is also needed to see all the small towns throughout Puglia which are all worth the experience. I’m sure I will be renting a car off and on during my stay. Caio!

    The taste of tap water being different may be due to the last stretch of plumbing inside the buildings. It may be very old and so it may affect the taste of the water.

    L'acqua delle fontanelle è buona. Arriva da molta profondità, almeno qui al nord è così... L'acqua è pescata da sorgenti naturali (sempre qui al nord, da voi non lo so) 🤗🤗. Per fare la cremina del caffè devi sbattere molto di più lo zucchero, deve diventare quasi spumoso, sentirai che bontà 😜😜

    Water from the fountains is considered often "better" because it's usually plumbed to newer pipes.Older building's plumbing is often rusty or givin water a bad taste.
    Other times private and public waters come from different sources so it could really be different from the beginning.

    Love the earrings, Katie!!! and love your fingers holding the number three, but you still went "American" on "number two" but more important, I'm with Connor on the bidet...I'm a new convert...three weeks and counting the joyful days...mostly because unlike my first AirBnb here in Palermo that had a good flushing water dynamics going...this second AirBnb is an older building with older everything including a toilet flushing mechanism that does not seem to ever want to take toilet paper away down the drain, so I've succumbed and surrendered to the bidet and have been pleasantly converted into a true believer like Connor, and lo and behold, whooo-ahhhhh! I feel "fresher" and "spunkier"! Who knew???!!! Is there "an American Real Men in Italy who love the Bidet Club in Italy" out there??? Connor, you're the national president and Chief of the Puglia Region, and I'll be the national treasurer collecting the membership dues using fuzzy math, and Chief of the Sicily Chapter!!! Lol! Too Quirky!

    yes, the public water is better of bottle water, obviously depends even by your house, but the source is more controlled and have narrow rules than selled water, about this I have a question, is real that public water in America is bad at the taste?

      It depends on where you are. The best water I have ever had in my life was in the mountains where I was living in California once. But where I lived for university in California the water was terrible, much better here where I live in Italy now
