i make a lot of hand-painted signs and I am so grateful to have seen the technique you used on the word "kindness" Thank you for sharing. it turned out beautifully!
Hey, there! I'm not the OP, but I'll answer you in case she doesn't find your msg and respond. For this particular transfer method (reverse print secured with Mod Podge - or a water based polyurethane apparently works as well) the design must be printed from a laser printer. Toner will transfer with this method where ink is water based and you'll likely end up with just a blob of black smudged all over a piece of lumber where the design would have been once you add water to the back of the paper. You can do regular Mod Podge transfer of some design or message you like (printed forward) on an ink jet printer, where you'll be attaching the paper to the item (wood, metal, glass, ceramic, etc) with a layer of Mod Podge on item surface, affix the paper with design and smooth, apply thin layer of mod podge on top of paper for better sealing and protection. Just make sure the ink is thoroughly dry before you use the paper! 😉 Hope this is helpful!
Thank you so much! Beautiful! Well Done. Do you have a tutorial (or would you do one) on how you design on the computer the signs? That would be super to learn too!
Thank you, there are so many aps now that do this kind of thing super easy, I use photoshop but realise a lot of people don't have access to this. Great idea
I would print the correct way and add to a mug and use dishwasher safe mod podge to try it similar to this but I haven't done, this wouldn't work quite thee same on a mug
Sarah, Bill Here. It has been a while. I wanted to ask if you have ever tried a thinner or thicker paper for your inkjet printer with the mod podge (transfer to wood) to see if one works better than the other? Just thot you might have an answer before I go and purchase some more paper...? You ROCK! Thanks, much!
Yes, you can buy thinner than this, I just used this one as it was lying around in the garage from my pile of salvaged wood, when there's building work nearby I always ask for their offcuts to save skipping them, amazing what you can get! Thanks
@@RedRockingBird yes I made one for studio 7t7 a few years back but it’s gone now- now I don’t do craft fairs! Not with thick wood though- love the look of these chunky signs! Sadly I don’t have much shelf space if any so it’s tricky for stuff like this as much as I love the look of it- maybe for my craft room though 😍
A new one for your craft room would be lovely. I have a few too many and given lots as gifts, just wonder sometimes when I give people a chunk of wood!!! Do they really like it 🤣😆😂
Thank you so much - totally inspired by you to do something along these lines now! Can I ask, which fonts do you use in this (and other) videos for the script words, please? I'm really after something that has a line in and a line out or did you do that yourself in editing before printing? Thank you x
I just make sure the mod podge has 100% dried first, then dabs of water and make sure I’m rubbing lightly, that part of process takes a long while. If the technique is not for you then try something else if you’ve given it a good few goes, I made wood signs a few different ways on my channel, best of luck
I'm not sure sorry, best thing to do is go on a font generator website type your word in and then see which font you like and you can download it from there 🌺

So glad you found it useful, thank you 😊
This technique is just as good as using one of those expensive cutting machines, thank you.
Glad you like it, thank you
Beautiful!! You're voice is so soothing and sweet. You're instructions were excellent and thorough. Thank you!! ❣
Thank you that's lovely of you to say, glad you found it useful. What kind of sign will you make?
Just beautiful and I love watching you videos
Thank you, a good one for all seasons, best of luck with your projects 😊
Thank you for mentioning a graphite stick. I took an art class ages ago and they've just been sitting. Now I can put them to use! 💖🌞🌵😷
Super, happy crafting, thanks 😊

Love it!

That’s a beautiful sign!!!!!
Thank you so much, I did it as a gift for a very kind friend, so I hope she really loved it too. Have a great day.
Love these. Doing lettering on a sign is not my best thing. I’ll need to do this or the trace n paint.❤️
This works great for the smaller ones, but for larger I love the trace and paint. Thank you ❤️
Great video. Thank you 🙏 Could I use a different finishing over lettering to treat wood for outdoor use
Yes use an outdoor varnish or spray
Have you tried this method? How did you get on?
Lovely voice, lovely project and explained beautifully :)
Thank you so much 😊
Thankyou so much for this video tutorial....It came out beautiful...I have a question...what kind of print did you take ? Inkjet or lazer ?
Thank you, glad you liked this technique, I used an inkjet printer for this one
@@RedRockingBird thankyou dear
Do you have to wait as long if you use a blow dryer
You can speed up the drying process yes
Hi final touch up can use epoxy ?
Thanks for your sharing ❤
Yes no reason why not, 😊 thanks
Love your videos! ❤️
Question: Do you need to use a laser jet printer or will ink jet work as well?

For the way I did it here - laser jet
Thank you 😊
Thanks for your reply too 👍
What kind of printer did you use? Cause when ive tried this- the mod podge smeared.
Inkjet, pasting mod podge on shouldn’t smudge the ink, then make sure it’s 100% dry before wetting
Should be a laser printer, not an ink jet.
Thank you so much! Beautiful! Well Done.

Hi did you use an ink printer or laser?
Hi, inkjet printer 👍
Beautiful ..
Can we use glue instead of mod podge ?
Or it is essential to you mod podge ?
I have only ever done this with mod podge
Elmer's glue watered down. Mod Podge is basically white glue.
Can it can be done in ceramic mug?
I would print the correct way and add to a mug and use dishwasher safe mod podge to try it similar to this but I haven't done, this wouldn't work quite thee same on a mug
May I know what kind of paper did you used?
Just basic standard copy paper

Hi Bill, I use really basic fairly thin paper, if you go thick then there is far too much to rub back off 😂😊 best of luck, sorry for the delay
@@RedRockingBird Thanks much, Sarah... 'skinny' typing paper is on my list! ;)
Is it just regular paper and black ink? Or is it a special kind of ink/paper?
Hi, regular paper and inkjet is what I used 😊
Where do u get the words to use
I use photoshop to create an image/text to print, you can download online or use an app to create the text you require too
The problem is that I can't find mode podge here in my country Kenya, is there any alternative?
What kind of pen is this please?
take a look here: amzn.to/3jzB9FO under decorative tools
How do you transfer white lettering onto a wood background painted ‘black’?
Using white chalk instead of graphite 👍

Why isit when I do it it all just peels off

you must use special transfer paper......not regular
I used regular paper here
you don't have to crumple the paper .. just use special transfer paper for sublimation printing and the paper will peel off beautifully
This different technique works well too, thanks for sharing
Actually I wanted to try this but I lack of confidence. It looks rather troublesome to me.😌
worth a shot, I love it
