Shampoo is used to get sebum off your hair! Sebum is the oil/grease we see on our hair. It’s normal and all natural and everyone has it! Each hair has the sebaceous gland which produces it. It’s a hair protectant but builds up over time which is why we use shampoo to get it out!
You said the issue with shampoo in this statement tho: shampoo strips the scalp of sebum, and over time, the scalp notices that its oils are getting routinely STOLEN. This really pisses ur scalp off, and makes it increase sebum production. The reason why shampoo fasts/breaks are used, is too 'reset' the scalp's sebum production. If you dont use shampoo for awhile, the scalp takes notice, and decreases oil production. Its very cyclical lol
It’s also dependent on who’s hair it is with how often you should shampoo. I have to do it every day because my hair just gets so greasy so fast and it sucks
Your problem might be because of shampooing too much. When you shampoo, your scalp is stripped of the naturally produced sebum, your scalp then sees that it's out of sebum so it produces even more sebum. So shampooing more frequently and with harsher shampoos actually make your oil problem worse. My tip to fix that would be to do what this guy is doing, 1.wash your head with water and scrub your scalp everyday, 2.detangle hair to get dead hair off if needed. 3.A kind of weird thing to do , but apply some kind of oil(I use non-smelly coconut oil if needed) to only your scalp(not your hair). This does the opposite of shampoo causing your hair to think it has too much sebum. Plus since oil is thinner than sebum, it's easier to wash off the consecutive day.
@@troygilbert69 That's not right, people at my location say the opposite. Hair type has little to do with dryness or oilyness, it depends person to person not hair type to hair type. It might be that curly hair people at your location use grease/oils on their hair periodically. That makes your scalp produce less sebum naturally.
your hair oil is actually pretty good at keeping your hair clean on its own (regardless, you'll probably need to rinse it with water every day). The only reason you might notice your hair getting too oily is because your hair goes into overdrive to produce the oil that the shampoo srips from your hair. Much like how hot water does the same on your skin, removing all the oil, so your body produces too much, leading to zits and acne.
2 years without using shampoo and my hair is fine, no oilly at all and it feels nice. The only thing you have to do is when you shower give a bit more attention to your washing.
Does it get oily easily when you touch it though? I do mess with my hair more than I should but I still don’t feel like it should be getting as oily every day though. I’m 1.5 weeks in though maybe I haven’t adjusted. Plus I might have the wrong hair type. I’m showering everyday though to keep it looking clean and volumed
Depends on the Shampoo. If it’s Sulfate free and all natural, it’s good. 👍 But if it has sulfates and is natural or not natural it’s not good for ur hair
Shampoo is not bad for your hair or scalp. Your scalp is skin. Skin emits sebum and sebum is fed upon by bacteria. This can end up smelling bad after awhile, and even lead to yeast and sebum buildup on the scalp. Sulfate and silicone free shampoos are the best option for people with dry or sensitive scalps. Also, make sure to ALWAYS use conditioner after shampooing.
Nobody gonna compliment how glorious and majestic his hair is??? I’ll do it myself. BROOO I never shampoo, but I do condition and pre treat with oil, but it looks amazing
Idk about other countries but in Brazil we have some hair products for that use, sometimes i use a hair mask called skala, i use it like a shampoo and wash it, it's called "co-wash" and it's really good for curly hair It may be a little expensive to import from brazil, even it being very cheap here
Dude… shampoo is designed to get rid of dirt and oil from your hair, while also making your head/hair smell good. No amount of water, either cold, or cool, or lukewarm, will get rid of that oil! Especially not the combs and hair massagers. Now, shampooing too often may be an issue if you do NOT have a fairly oily scalp as I may dry out the scalp causing dandruff.
Dandruff is not dry scalp. Dry scalp is dry scalp. Dandruff is a fungus that causes flakes. Look between your toes. Do you have peeling skin? That's athletes foot. That fungus. Funguses make your skin flake and peel. Was and replace moisture with conditioner.
hey! i have a severe case of MCAS rendering me super allergic to soaps and shampoos, and a gazillion other things. I recommend using baking soda to replace soap as an emulsifier and to manage oil, and vinegar for cleaning; though, be careful not to get any in your eyes. it took me a while to find the right balance, but my hair is incredibly soft and manageable now unlike it ever was with shampoo.
For everyone that didn't know, shampoo doesn't really work unless you have skin or hair problems like extremely oily hair or dry scalp. Shampoo can in many cased cause head/hair medical problems, just use requal shower gel, the cheaper the stuff the better. (Although I'm not sure if it works the same on the ladies)
I did this for almost a year. I’m a woman with long slightly wavy dark brown hair. I had some itchy scalp and out of my creative ignorance I thought I’ll treat those red spots and itch like any other scar, with peroxide and a q-tip. It got better and in the meantime I stopped washing my hair for a week. So I had the idea of washing but not using any shampoo. When I took showers I did massage on my skull and noticed my hands greasy, so I cleaned my hands with soap and lukewarm water. Then massage again. I repeated this a few times. First week my hair looked awful. But free that it started look amazing. Cons: it smells weird. Not bad, I can’t complain but my partner did notice something was off… and also I eventually got dandruff and strong itchy scalp… i went to a dermatologist and he told me which specific shampoo I had to use nd it worked like a miracle. Since then I wash my hair daily or every two days.
Instead of conditioner I use a mixture of 1 part apple cider vinegar, 4 parts water, it works amazingly well and it cuts through head grease like butter, the smell goes away after the shower, 🎉🎉🎉
I'll be honest I've smelled people's hair that don't wash. It always smells gross. Roadkill with ketchup on it is how I would describe the rancid scalp oil smell
Those people aren’t “no shampoo”. They simply don’t wash themselves. You can still have clean and fresh smelling hair even without shampoo. For one you can substitute shampooing with only conditioner. That way you can clean off dirt or even products at the roots that are being trapped. Kinda like how you do an oil cleanse on your face. Second, you can use warm water to clean your hair after breaking off the clumped-ups either by combing or just doing it in the shower. Then use something like apple cider to give your hair a thorough rinse. I dilute mine in a bottle and just pour over my head in the shower. Last Lu, you can just reduce the shampooing to twice a week if the above methods don’t work on you for some reason.
Shampoos not actually bad for your hair. It’s really more on how often you shampoo, for some people it needs to be every day, for others weekly, and sometimes even monthly, it just depends. Either way, you do need to be using sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. I recommend Herbal Essences, it’s sulfate free, actually hydrating for my hair without it being oily, and it smells good.
@@22z83 i tried to train my hair for 6 months, increasing the increments from 3 days of not washing with shampoo to 2 weeks of not washing with shampoo. guess what? it didn’t work. training the hair to produce less sebum is legitimately impossible. it’s genetic, not environmental. some people have less or more of it. it doesn’t depend on how often we shower. it’d be like if i tried to produce less ear wax or snot. it’s not going to happen. EDIT i’d like to add that i’ve been recommended by every dermatologist and cosmetologist that i’ve known that i should be washing my hair every day. my hair is black, thick, coarse, and short. any grease that i produce falls to the ends of my hair immediately and there is no way to hide that. plus, it irritates my scalp.
@honeycrispsnail4032 then why did it work for me perfectly? maybe you come from a long line of greasy hair mfs and you need it but I encourage everyone to try it. I have shoulder lenght long hair and it's literally never greasy and smells like the conditioner I use
A great alternative for shampoo is a bit of apple cider vinegar mixed with some water cover your eyes with something and then pour the mixture over your hair do this 1-2 times. And then rinse with water and your done you dont have to use shampoo or conditioner. It's super easy and simple.
I can't live without shampoo my hair is extra oily naturally and i hate it so i use shampoo 3 times a week to clean my hair and i feel great after using it
the “no poo” movement is wild because even if shampoo was “bad” for you it’s still a better option to shampoo for a few mins and cleanse your scalp than to let the grease and grime and pollutants build up and fester on your scalp over weeks and months and choke out your hair
That's actually one of the key factors that causes alot of hair fall. And there are people that don't know how to wash the scalp properly with a schampo and have the nerve to spout bs 🤡
I tried this once and had to set up an appointment with the dermatologist so not try specially if you have dandruff wash your hair a couple days of the week and your good 😅
Cleansing conditioner also does the trick, although there will be a point where you need to clarify your hair just to get rid of buildup. But as a girly with dry damaged hair I rave for cleansing conditioners, they hydrate and clean your hair ✨
I’m two months away from being 1 year no poo! I haven’t used any hair products at all. I’ve made my own hair care out of flax seed gel and one I make with apple cider vinegar which I alternate between. My hair has never been happier!
Man, i am so glad that i am not alone. I always hate that whenever i shower i have to look down just so i wont get the roof wet, and don't hit my head.
Use warm to hot water first, then finish with cold water. Using hot water in the beginning of a shower opens up your folicles and allows it to clean easier, then you close them back up with cold water which is also good for your scalp and skin. 😊
Haven't shampooed my hair for over 9 months, just plain water. My hair feels better than ever, shinier, healthier, doesn't smell. Just water and a trusty towel.
I used just baking soda diluted in a big cup of water for about two years! It worked pretty well and never dried out my scalp like a lot of commercial shampoos do. Eventually I was just kinda wanting a change and wanted my hair to smell nice but also didn’t want to contribute to plastic waste so I compromised and bought shampoo and conditioner bars. Great choice for people like me who want something that works but don’t want to feel all the plastic guilt lol
Been using baking soda and apple cider vinegar as shampoo and conditioner for the past 5-8 years. It works great if you portion it correctly to your hair, my mop is pretty happy
I do shampoo once a week. Seems like the best way to go… I know people who haven’t used shampoo for a year and they have zero issues, and no bad smell either, just slightly greasy hair
Ideally it works, but you can see how heavy your hair is, it still clumps together and it’s not just because you have curls/waves, generally speaking I wash my hair which is similar in texture to yours once a week, was my body 3 times a week (I have combination skin and showering everyday makes my skin feel dry and tight every other day is the magic spot for me)
The reason people might find that their hair starts to look healthier, while having to do a lot with just doing more intentional work, also has to do with your taking the oils that would normally sit and stagnate on your scape and spreading across all your hair. So that's why it looks shiny and feels soft and you "don't need shampoo".
There are different kinds of shampoo, and you also have to condition your hair after shampooing it, which is why your hair feels weird especially since you’ve got curly hair

@@Tjay2024you just havent adjusted, takes at least 30 days just keep going and your hair will get wayyyy less oily naturally

i tried to not wash my hair for weeks and it was disgusting. went back to shampooing my hair and scalp every 3-5 days and thats the sweet spot for me.
the point isn't "not washing your hair"
I’m the exact opposite, shampoo makes my hair dry ,brittle, and frizzy.
Havent used shampoo or conditioner for like 8 years, no smell, looks great, feels great 😃👍

Depends on the Shampoo.
If it’s Sulfate free and all natural, it’s good. 👍
But if it has sulfates and is natural or not natural it’s not good for ur hair
Shampoo is not bad for your hair or scalp. Your scalp is skin. Skin emits sebum and sebum is fed upon by bacteria. This can end up smelling bad after awhile, and even lead to yeast and sebum buildup on the scalp. Sulfate and silicone free shampoos are the best option for people with dry or sensitive scalps. Also, make sure to ALWAYS use conditioner after shampooing.
men will do ANYTHING for skin and haircare and still get good results
I haven't used shampoo since the start of the pandemic, my hair looks like a Greek God
The easiest way to live without shampoo is to shave your head once, and while the hair grows back - wash with water only. Just so you know :)

this actuality makes sense. imagine all that gunk getting caught in the dude's hair. looked greasy af
Nobody gonna compliment how glorious and majestic his hair is??? I’ll do it myself. BROOO I never shampoo, but I do condition and pre treat with oil, but it looks amazing
Idk about other countries but in Brazil we have some hair products for that use, sometimes i use a hair mask called skala, i use it like a shampoo and wash it, it's called "co-wash" and it's really good for curly hair
It may be a little expensive to import from brazil, even it being very cheap here
bros hair looked majestic after
It looked hella greasy
It looked disgusting and smelly lol
it looks like he didnt shower for 30 days, but with **curls**

It looked greasy as fuck, like most people's hair would look when not washing it for 30 days.

Was and replace moisture with conditioner.
that's nice, you don't need to remove all the oil, only the excess
@@soap_off all of my oil is excess 🧍🏽♂️
hey! i have a severe case of MCAS rendering me super allergic to soaps and shampoos, and a gazillion other things. I recommend using baking soda to replace soap as an emulsifier and to manage oil, and vinegar for cleaning; though, be careful not to get any in your eyes. it took me a while to find the right balance, but my hair is incredibly soft and manageable now unlike it ever was with shampoo.
Finally a person that’s not a d1 gatekeeper
Ayo bro is your shower hella small or r you hella tall
aren't you getting dandruffs?
I never use shampoo and I have very curly hair best decision I’ve made 😊
XD idk why the "combing" was so funny to me

Yes it was xD
I don't get the people saying it looks good...... it looks bad to me 😭
You should try darkening your eyebrows! I bet you would really enjoy the look. Much love ❤
I haven’t used shampoo as a teenager in months and my hair is great
Instead of conditioner I use a mixture of 1 part apple cider vinegar, 4 parts water, it works amazingly well and it cuts through head grease like butter, the smell goes away after the shower, 🎉🎉🎉
It’s a myth that sulfates are bad. Some people benefit greatly from sulfates ( oily scalp)
nobody needs to shampoo everyday. If ur hair is greasy after one day it's probably because you shamppoo too often
@@22z83 lmfao i’m not sure why you had to insult me when i didn’t insult anybody else or you, for that matter.
A great alternative for shampoo is a bit of apple cider vinegar mixed with some water cover your eyes with something and then pour the mixture over your hair do this 1-2 times. And then rinse with water and your done you dont have to use shampoo or conditioner. It's super easy and simple.
I stopped using shampoo around two months ago and my hair feels amazing
Tbh, natural shampoos and conditioners are fantastic. I use pine tar because of its antifungal properties. My hair feels incredible afterward.
I can't live without shampoo my hair is extra oily naturally and i hate it so i use shampoo 3 times a week to clean my hair and i feel great after using it
yeah only coarse hair is able to go on no-shampoo for long periods of time with no problems
Just try it for a month. When you're using shampoo, your body compensates by producing more oil.
its oily cause its "addicted" to shampoo
its oily cause its "addicted" to shampoo
literally the reason it's extra oily is because you're shampooing it and stripping the oils away so often that the glands ramp up oil production
Ey bro what do you eat in a day
Probably food
the “no poo” movement is wild because even if shampoo was “bad” for you it’s still a better option to shampoo for a few mins and cleanse your scalp than to let the grease and grime and pollutants build up and fester on your scalp over weeks and months and choke out your hair
That's actually one of the key factors that causes alot of hair fall. And there are people that don't know how to wash the scalp properly with a schampo and have the nerve to spout bs 🤡
I did this too, and now I never have bad hair days👍
I started doing this in January and my hair is happier than ever. The cold or cool water is key.
"Stimulate the top of my head"
30 days? That’s rookie numbers…
yooo 😂
Is this the only thing that gets you views?
I tried this once and had to set up an appointment with the dermatologist so not try specially if you have dandruff wash your hair a couple days of the week and your good 😅
Cleansing conditioner also does the trick, although there will be a point where you need to clarify your hair just to get rid of buildup. But as a girly with dry damaged hair I rave for cleansing conditioners, they hydrate and clean your hair ✨
Shampoo exists for a reason.
it also didn’t exist for a long time and people were fine
God bless everyone and have a wonderful day ❤
I’m two months away from being 1 year no poo!
Dude is so tall it’s actually hilarious 😂😂
Bro no way you included the “I’m stronger, I’m smarter, I’m better meme at the beginning” 😂
Haven't shampooed my hair for over 9 months, just plain water. My hair feels better than ever, shinier, healthier, doesn't smell. Just water and a trusty towel.

I haven't used shampoo in months but I condition. The flow is immaculate
I stopped using shampoo and it’s worked rlly well for me but I’m blessed with naturally amazing hair so take it with a grain of salt
That intro was kinda fire
I used just baking soda diluted in a big cup of water for about two years! It worked pretty well and never dried out my scalp like a lot of commercial shampoos do. Eventually I was just kinda wanting a change and wanted my hair to smell nice but also didn’t want to contribute to plastic waste so I compromised and bought shampoo and conditioner bars. Great choice for people like me who want something that works but don’t want to feel all the plastic guilt lol
me not shampooing my hair for 2 months because i ran out of shampoo: huh.
It really isn't how it looks, but how that scalp smells?
Been using baking soda and apple cider vinegar as shampoo and conditioner for the past 5-8 years. It works great if you portion it correctly to your hair, my mop is pretty happy
does it smell bad
How to dont use Shampoo:
1. Start smoking
2. Get cancer
3. Get bald from the chemotherapy
Mission completed!
Shampoo lightly straightens your hair also. So basically without shampoo you have fluffier and textured hair.
Yo it's the first person in the world to try no shampoo. Great content that nobody has seen before
how do i have curls but no frizz? it’s not fair mab
I do shampoo once a week. Seems like the best way to go… I know people who haven’t used shampoo for a year and they have zero issues, and no bad smell either, just slightly greasy hair
I always thought the thin toothed combs were better but they give me excruciatingly painful headaches
I tried the no shampoo movement myself about a month ago and it helped my dandruff and my hair looks so much nicer now too
Ideally it works, but you can see how heavy your hair is, it still clumps together and it’s not just because you have curls/waves, generally speaking I wash my hair which is similar in texture to yours once a week, was my body 3 times a week (I have combination skin and showering everyday makes my skin feel dry and tight every other day is the magic spot for me)
I actually wanna try that
Fire video bro!
Bro forgot soap exists.
He was just not shampooing he was still washing his body
The reason people might find that their hair starts to look healthier, while having to do a lot with just doing more intentional work, also has to do with your taking the oils that would normally sit and stagnate on your scape and spreading across all your hair. So that's why it looks shiny and feels soft and you "don't need shampoo".
You can also use conditioner instead and you don't have to suddenly stop, instead do it gradually.
There are different kinds of shampoo, and you also have to condition your hair after shampooing it, which is why your hair feels weird especially since you’ve got curly hair
you can also use cyanure fentanyl, it actually works for your scalp and disappears dandruff
Bro is a load-bearing column for his shower
