Attempting to Catch a Shark from a UK Beach!

  • Join Graeme & Mike from TA Outdoors as they attempt to catch a shark from a UK Beach. The boys go fishing on the south coast of england and cast out a big bait on a large hook and try fishing for a shark. Graeme talks through his shark fishing rig. Beach Fishing in the UK is very popular, and this time of year you can catch Mackerel on feathers. The fishing really picks up later in the day as the mackerel drive the tiny bait fish up onto the shore line. Graeme uses these small fish as bait to catch larger fish! They then catch and cook fresh mackerel straight from the ocean and onto the frying pan! Thanks for watching!

I do whitebait in seasoned flour and just fry them up or you could do a light batter. Put a little beer in the flour and stick the fish in it, then fry. Skin side down first for fillets, cook it until the fish is done half way up and turn for about a minute on the fish side, add a little lemon juice and eat... perfect. Love the videos guys

That was great and nice to see Mike back fishing with you Graeme. I've been stalking carp over the last two days and had ten. I said to my friend yesterday who I was fishing with "I love Fridays, Totally Awesome video tonight" and we both smiled and agreed to pack up by 7:00pm get some drinks in and sit and watch. Neither of us could keep our eyes open (The fresh air had knocked us for six) but I finished watching the video...Just. Thanks for sharing it and please keep them coming Gents.

Great whitebait bonus! I love em. Rough-weather surf during weekends fishing in the 50s and 60s at Dungeness years ago also used to throw up huss on the beach. You had to be quick to pick em up though. For mum it was a curse and a blessing. Huss were her favourite fish to eat but she’d sometimes lose her own skin while skinning the fish nailed to the draining board at home.

Where have you been fishing bro? I'm from brighton and have literally been pulling out the mackeral 3-4 at a time for 2 hours solid once it hits high tide. Took home anything over 80-90 mackeral between me and a mate in 2 days.. and similar to this vid the white bait where being washed up onto the shore in the hundreds.. filled a tub up in 10 minutes. Been fantastic fishing in Brighton this summer.

About 10yrs ago I was royally bust off fishing west bex using whole mackerel and 12lb mono on the bottom. Bait was picked up and the fish carried on swimming along the beach just outside of the breakers. I followed it along the beach trotting to keep up. legs wobbling and arms shaking as i couldn't believe what was going on. I panicked a little and tried to stop apply a little more pressure and the line went. No crack just nothing there all of a sudden.. I still don't think it knew it was hooked as it hadn't headed out but was still just swimming along the shore. I have no idea what it was but have been trying most yrs since to get something similar to happen. It was on 27th July, dusk with virtually no wind, light seas and a little high cloud cover. Perhaps I should use the wife's Sunday roasting joint next time. Great film as always. Thanks for posting

On the east coast of Maryland. I vaguely remember squid and blood worms to catch tiny sand sharks back in the mid to late 60s. My father who was from upstate New York no where near the coast absolutely love surf fishing. He would catch the sand sharks or perhaps they were really baby sharks..let them loose and we would chase them back out into the surf. Maybe that was just a distraction to keep us busy on the shore will he fished. Mainly I remember each night on the weekend we would eat blue fish wrapped in bacon. Lovely you post these videos. They sparked really nice memories for me.

Good to see such excitement over those small, delicious hard fighters, the mackerel! I remember going out after Macs and there were several Japanese on board. They caught some, brought out some condiments, sat down on the deck and thoroughly enjoyed super fresh Sushi. Wonderful fish.

Great entertainment.Mackerel fever.Suggest try poaching both alfresco in boiling water with plenty of vinegar. We used to gut the mackerel put a rod through the tail and head down in the boiling pot with water/vinegar.Kinda like sousing them.Very tasty. Portland Bill ledges Chesil side have seen porbeagles there in years gone by.

Chaps there is no debate. You score the skin a few times and then it’s skin side down first then flip it over. Looks like a great day guys. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🐟🐟🐟🐟

Great video, i live near here and have fished Chesil many times (wind pretty much always gets up here regardless of the forecast) and can safely say it's pretty much only really productive for mackerel in the evening/morning & dogfish at night in the summer, in fact there are so many doggies nothing else gets a chance! So i avoid unless needing some fresh mackerel for bait, I would only fish this place in the winter for the big Cod.

Found your Channel My father was an avid fisherman , so I was fishing since I was walking , I would say beach fishing is My favorite im 53 now but way back When I was 25 I bought a 16 foot 4 sectioned Rod an open faced DIAWA( I think) the one Without the bail arm ,It held the distance casting record at the time , I could punch that out well over 200+ yrds, I used to practice casting with a rubber dog ball , drilled a hole through it put bailer twine through it , ( it wont sink into the ground and rolls when you reel it in ). I have seen down in Portland My Uncle catch a 4ft Tope off the beach so it is possible , but he wasn't shark fishing at the time lol

I have used it before and usually cut a set of Mackerel feathers in half plus the lure on the back...I thought it was worth mentioning, might help beginners get the extra fish.

As always great video Graham. Fish is always cooked skin side down first after scoring 3 mins then 2 other side. Whitebait in little butter and 3 mins. The scoring stops the shrinkage.

There was a bunch of peeps who were catching dusky sharks from the beaches of southern Massachusetts. Massachusetts, Dorset, same difference. Over here sharks come very close to the beach. I hooked into a big monkfish from rocks NEXT to the beach in Newquay-yes, that Newquay-35 years ago. Crap washing out of the harbour was very chum like. Very tricky, 8.2 lbs line. We were all mucking about with light line back then distance casting for rays.

I've mackerel off Dorset one summer. I was standing in the water and they were swimming round my feet. I cast feathers into the boiling water and was getting 2-3 at a time. Sushi mackerel 5min after they've been is wonderful.

Hi graham been a fan for years when cooking mackerel I like to sear the mackerel for 8 minutes on medium low heat on the skin side and then finish it the flesh side for 1 minute
