It's always interesting to watch an amature enthusiast work on cars or motorcycles. It really shows when you were trying to connect the throttle cables and choke cable, the lack of manual dexterity. After 40 plus years in the trade, doing this kind of work all day every day, a high quality, highly experienced tradesman can take for granted that this is easily done, without even thinking about it, where weekend enthusiasts like yourself, Brian, really struggle with the lack of manual dexterity. There is no substitute for hard won experience I guess, but watching you struggle makes me appreciate the skills and dexterity than is natural for us tradesmen. Keep going with with your hobby, though, as you seem to be enjoying yourself and learning new skills. 👍
😅.....,an expert/highly trained and qualified modest and humble professional with the dexterity of Houdini blindfolded with one hand behind his back and over 40 years experience ( only mentioned in two out of your four comments on my channel) like yourself shouldn't be subjecting himself to my videos. I should be watching yours...,however Indiana Jones is currently having trouble finding them.😊 "We are Not worthy"...😅
Great tutorials. I like the New York license plate, #1 dad Although this city has ruined this state . Anyways your bike is a fantastic example of a factory bike
Brian, when you removed the original air box, did you use an oil catch tank..? I couldn’t see one in your videos. Am about to remove stoke air box on mine. Thanks.
An "oil catch tank" for where..?? No oil catch tank needed when removing the stock airbox......,however I did fit my own crank case breathers to both my ZRX's (each shown in a number of my videos..) I also removed the pipework that runs from the linked reid valve plates on the valve cover to the top of the airbox......,fitted my own machined "no-flow" replacement dowels in the cylinder head...,removed the reid valves..,plugged their openings with M8 stainless steel grub screws and fitted machined Muzzy "Block off Plates" on the valve cover... ....no "oil" coming from anywhere else so no need for any "oil catch tank"... BG.
I've tried it both ways...,un plugged and connected. I know "some" say un plugging it is beneficial.....,but honestly I've been down that road....(even bought and fitted the blanking plate etc).. I certainly never found any benefit...to un plugging it..) If "anything" at all I think it runs better with it connected....especially at low revs...(less "hunting" etc.and seems a little "cleaner".)...just make sure its properly calibrated as per the manual "if" it ever gets removed at the carbs...(it is a throttle position sensor after all) Each to their own...,but on the stock CVK 36 carbs I'm keeping mine connected... Many many threads..,posts.,discussions and debates on the ZRXOA regarding this and I've read them all...😅
Hello sir I have watched your channel for a while now and have found the information very helpful in my 1100 build 👍. Where did you get the storage box from as it looks better than others I have seen 😊
Yes we visited New York a few years ago...,then My Daughter went back a 2nd time a couple of years later and bought me that tag.. You are 100% correct....,it is totaly ruined now which is so sad....,since it has become a place we would now hardly recognise 😢 A shadow of what it once was... Shocking....
Thank you....👍 No I didn't weigh the bike.. I built another ZRX (My 2005) and it will be a lot lighter than this one.. Looking forward to getting this one back on the road very shortly....! BG.
oh wow... 🤔🤔🤔 my carbs are different... on the float bowl there is a large brass coloured nut with wires coming out of it.. 🤔🤔🤔 do you know if i can remove that part
Yes you have the later bike (2004~2005 maybe?) It has lots of emissions paraphernalia and also have those float bowl solenoids ....those were present on my other ZRX (My 2005)... I gutted all that stuff out and fitted the float bowls from the earlier carbs.. I also removed the carb heater (de icing) system which is present on UK/European bikes It's a series of little coolant pipes that link into brass and plastic "Y" connectors that plug into the underside of the carbs and then link through a filter into both the horizontal metal coolant pipe that runs across the rear of the cylinder head and also the metal coolant pipe that runs from the front of the water pump to the LHS of the radiator.. You will also have a series of tubes and pipes that run from the Reed valve plates on top of the cam cover (they are also linked into a "Y" shape) which then connects into the air box.. This affair is commonly referred to on the ZRXOA as "the octopus"... Oh and you'll also have a "snorkel" on the RHS of the airbox (behind the outside bodywork side cover)... Lots of information on the ZRXOA dealing with all this... BG.
Here is a thread I wrote regarding all this stuff on the MV Agusta forum a number of years ago when I was gutting it out of my 05 ZRX.. www.mvagusta.net/threads/my-zrx1200r-project-begins.164753/page-8 Read through it....,hopefully it will provide you with the information you require.. BG.
