What I do when I rebuild carbs is to use those heavy aluminum foil baking pans from the Dollar Store. Costs a buck, You can crunch them up around the carbs to support them plus it catches any parts that come flying out. And they last a long time.

Can absolutely say I detest CV carbs, and Kehin carbs, give me a set of Mikuni smooth bores or flat slides. But I'm old.😂😂😂😂😂 Great channel!!!!!

Great Video. You helped me with the oring hunting. I just had an issue with a ZRX fork part and it ended up that I could order a Yamaha XJR1300 spindle taper to replace the part.
    Thanks for making this video

Pretty normal how many bikes re-use parts for other models. I had a 1990 GSXR400 'gray market' import with a bad timing pickup coil (timing pulser) . After ordering a parts manual from Japan, it turns out the same part was used in a US version of the Bandit 400.

stunning explanation. I only wish you'd have shown how to remove carb from the rails. The springs puzzle me and I hesitate to take all carbs from the rails. In the end thumbs UP.

As said on the ZX10 video, look for O-ring kits with various dimensions around what you need, that'll work. Of course then the question is how long do those last. I'll do the varb again (proper all balls kit this time) and let you know what the cheap Chinese O-rings look like after half a year.

I do that. Z1 Enterprises sells them. If I kinda know the general size I’ll use them. They’re Viton.

Thanks for subscribing and watching. To be as transparent as possible, several viewers raised concerns about my attempts at being humorous, cheeky, and rightfully noted a perception of a lack of professionalism (my interpretation) regarding the content. One viewer mentioned being adolescent and in retrospect, I can see his point. I don't take comments like that personally, but I do take them seriously. I look at this from a business perspective and you folks are customers. I believe they had very valid points and decided to edit the video and repost. Hope that answers your question. Cheers.

11.19.23. If people think you’re content is offending, they need to check out SWRC/DIY automotive channel. “My friend Pete” is highly abrasive, but he puts out some superb content if you look past his crude behavior⚠️ just as Chris Harris‘s channel on BMW motorcycles is. These guys are foul mouth,🤦🏻‍♂️but I look past that and I judge them on the content that they put out and they definitely put out top notch content on what they are showing! The main point is… These channels and yours are informing, but they’re also entertaining at the same time💁🏻‍♂️

@@MotoRestoFL As the world turns. I am quite a serious person, especially when it comes to mechanical subjects as I am a mechanical engineer, nevertheless I also like to be entertained. Your initial video gave me quite a chuckle, it shows a light-hearted side of your personality and says good things about you. Either way don´t sweat it, the world will continue to turn. See you on the next one.

I thank you for your feedback. I hear ya, but after looking at the first version again, I could see their point. I did go a bit overboard. I am gaining experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and fooling around with sub-clips becomes almost too easy. I think there are places for fooling around and we’ll do that but sometimes a reset is in order.

Hey bud, just curious. What would you charge to remove, clean, and reinstall gunked up carburetors on a inline four? One of those typical jobs where the bike sat for years with fuel in the carbs and tank. Greatly appreciated. Thanks

    • @MotoRestoFL

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me. They can mimic an engine tic. I first thought about the alternator/starter chain tensioner on the clutch side, but the trouble with that is, the mechanism that locks that tensioner in place gets weak and slips, and when it runs, it bounces around being just under spring tension (and the spring gets weak over time) and it touches the clutch basket. Are there any marks, even any faint marks on the clutch outer basket from that possibly happening? If not, I'd check for an exhaust leak. If there are absolutely none at the pipes where the header seals on the exhaust ports, check for a hole in the pipe just to be safe. A manual chain tensioner for that starter chain tensioner on the clutch side would be a great upgrade to rule that out 100%. Cheers. www.kwick.biz/product/tensioner-tamer-alternator-starter-chain-tensioner-fix/
