Love these competitive races with constant commentary from the couch. The friendly races where the runners do some commentary are cool too, but these are really fun to watch and listen to.
Yeah, I'm almost as impressed by the commentator's skills as I am with the runners'.
Fireb0rn getting shit RNG all day but Pest was just unstoppable. Both of these guys are incredible. Such an amazing race.

As someone who played this casually, this race was amazing to watch. These guys are all stars and it shows how much work they've put into their runs. Great commentary too!
Took me a while to come back around to this and I'm glad I didn't forget it! Such an awesome run by both racers.
Amazing to see how close this run was, especially given the Uumuu timeloss. Well played to Pest for taking it safe, though Fireborn almost caught up Pest knew what he was doing and sealed out a clean victory. Great stuff, I love seeing this game at GDQ.

So does someone know what the ig times were? The pace was pretty fast for Pest, considering the early game time losses this must have been like 33:50-33:40 I think?

Yeah, every time he gains some time, he loses it to loading.
They use a timer that eliminates load time.

@@kerrrobertson3699 iirc at the end of the run they announced the time without load. Pest was like 33:30 and fireb0rn was like 34:15-ish
They had a mod which made their loading times much more similar than they normally are. Overall, given their RTA time (41:46 for Pest and 42:12) and taking into account the IGT they shared at the end of the race (33:40 for Pest and 34:11 for fire), Pest only lost 5s to loads which was probably only noticeable on a few big room loads. To compare, Pest's PB is 12s faster IGT than fire's one but is 21s slower RTA
Hahaha, 21:37 wasn't a pause in frustration from Fireborn, the game was frozen as a result of the time slow from both the bosses dying at once-- Both of them set the game -50% speed(/framestop) for a short moment, and when you do both at once it's -100% speed. He had to pause to restart game computation lol

Everybody complains about how hard the watcher knights were on a casual play though when I thought that they were definetly one of the easier bosses. Then again I struggled for 3 days over hornet II and everyone thinks that boss isn't to difficult. Does anyone else share my opinion?
Hornet 2 took me over 24 hours of playtime to beat. It might have been because I had done it completely unupgraded, or because I didnt find the bench before it, and every time went to the fight from king's station.
I did both relatively easily by spamming spells

Isn't there a way to skip all the scary Beast Den stuff by a series of jumps off the wall, or does that require Monarch Wings?

Probably because they had to stop and get a controller working which lost a few minutes
Maybe someday we'll get a GDQ run of Hollow Knight not set on Any%.
(Any% NMG is cool and all, but some variety would be nice is all I'm saying.)
There is already, just search for gdq hollow knight and a true ending run Will show up from i Think last year
Just a Pantheon of Hallownest run would be cool. Though it's not exactly marathon safe...
Yeah I really don't like the any% in this game. noone just beats the hollow knights and stops playing. you miss all the most interesting and difficult parts of the game
Vysuals did true ending in like 2018 AGDQ. Would love to see 106 or 112 though.

Not sure. I was streaming at 60fps for sure.
when i asked how long a hollow knight game takes to finish. common gamer= yeah about 30-40h. Speedrunner= yeah about 40-60minutes should do it.
My first playthru took 25 hours and I scored 75%
I know this will get lost in the comments, but huge HUGE props to GDQ for putting pronouns next to the runners names, its a small thing, but its huge to those of us where it really matters, much love to you guys
