Can we take a moment to acknowledge that Mark Speer is a great guitarist. The fact that he continues to play the rhythm whilst he plays the lead is rare these days! Rare!

Just to add how amazing he is, he can shred if he wanted to but he keeps it classy. At 3:08 the song gives off more of it's Dub appeal. Has anyone thought about attending a Khruangbin show dressed just like them, wigs and all?
Class is whats all about, chords are the same in music, Class comes from hear all planetary music and to be a little gifted,and yes that would be hilarious :)
His chord formations are so difficult. They're all great musicians though - I don't think Donald Johnson's pocket gets enough credit.

Criminally underrated is a bit of a cliche these day, everyone's saying it about somebody or something.
I love learning and playing this bass line.
The most overused word on youtube is underrated. The only thing worse is the use of the phrase, criminally underrated. For people that do not have an original idea to save there life.
Drummer is balls deep inside the pocket, guitarist manages to do the tasty lead work AND keep the rhythm part steady to the point it sounds like 2 guitars, AND a groovy bass player who is also a total babe?? This band is marvelous

I love how each band member is equally important. I feel like that's rare in band. All three of them offers a style that's very specific...in my opinion.
Seriously though, every time I listen to them I'm thinking "wow, that member carries the whole band", and then I realize what the other two are doing and think "shit, they're all so unique and powerful. this band would be nothing without each of them doing what they do"
and still they manage to be so boring, its quite impressive.

It's very hypnotic and brilliantly arranged, really draws one in doesn't it? The meandering flow just takes me along and is soooo relaxing, love Speer's approach on the melody and the ultra tasteful use of the wah pedal and effects. The section with the vocals is beyond gorgeous---and what a sublime groove! My only complaint is August 12th is my birthday, not the 10th...

I am continually amazed with Mr. Metronome, and is rock steady beat. At 3:05, he stops; Laura Lee going it alone for a few measures. During that short interval, she wandered, ever so slightly, from the beat. The moment he joined back in, she snapped right in time with his precision-perfect beat. This band is tight with each other
She did lose it for a second but then she got back on shortly after

Music is the feel, feel the music and you can “walk on water “ Don’t be scared to be off beat. If it sounds good, that’s it.
Laura definitely sways out of the pocket every now and then, it works for their style but the drummer really is keeping their time. She has a good melody so they work as a team.

Mark Speer is a man after my own heart, this is one of my all time favorite jams and by some act of fate my daughter was born on this date making this song even more awesome. Big UPS!!!!

I just can't get enough of August 10. One of my all time favorite tracks. They are a trio who somehow manage to sound like a big band.... looking good, sounding great, DJ, Laura and Mark you guys rock!

I remember hearing this live without knowing who they were, they were opening for Leon bridges, and it was hypnotic/surreal.
These guys are just so talented and CHILL. Still my favorite band in 2020.

It is really cool where Mark plays the bass rhythm, then delves off on some beautiful lead riffs, then comes back into the bass rhythm. All held together with the incredible drumming that is the pace maker of a super tight band. The bass riff is so cool.
A modern day supergroup at its finest, oh what a great feeling 🤘

I love this song, the guitar sound is so natural and fresh (not to say that he is playing the rhythmic and lead line guitar at the same time, which is really impressive), the bass contributes a lot in the song with that beautiful sound in that reggae style and the groove of the drums is incredible.

Hmmm. Very reminiscent of Air's "La Femme D'argent" from Moon Safari. I wonder if people even remember that band. They composed the Virgin Suicides soundtrack and are popular for the tracks "All I Need" and "Cherry Blossom Girl." Both bands are awesome. Like the vibe.
