    Thank you brother, I was able to replace the spark plugs on my F10. I would like to add that none of the hoses had to be removed before taking off the engine cover. All I had to do was take the plenum hoses off the cover (4 plastic clips in total), pop the cover open, and then it lifts and slides right out.
    In any event, this was very helpful. Again, thank you.

    Excellent video! Thanks for the links as well...I've already ordered most of the products listed. I noticed I had some oil dripping out of the two plenum lines for some reason. Any idea what that could indicate? I'm letting them drain overnight. I'm replacing the plugs due to more than normal engine vibration. Thanks in advance!

      The hoses may just be part of the engines ventilation (pcv valve) which is common for oil to be presents on these hoses. Replacing the valve if equipped is part of a vehicle’s regular maintenance.

      @TweekerDan1984 I've changed the spark plugs over the weekend, just followed your instructions. While changing I noticed 2 odd things that shocked me. My car was always serviced by BMW service centers and no one touched the engine bay. First the two of the spark plugs were not tight. I could just unscrew with my fingers. And second, one of the ignition coil was inserted incorrectly, so that it's barely touching the plugs. The rubber ring on top of the coil pack was squeezed out half way, which made it sit loose.
      My guess is that, stealership wanted me to come back after last oil change with some misfire complaints?

      @Mathias Vega Most auto parts stores will scan your vehicle for free and let you know the code for why the check engine light is on. If you have your vehicle scanned and share the code I may be able to assist. If you were having no symptoms with your vehicle, the check engine light could be illuminated by something as simple as not having your gas cap on properly.

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Charcomusic apologies for the delayed response. Normal operating temperature is usually between 195° to 220° give or take. You should not need to replace the coils at the same time as the spark plugs. But I highly recommend using the NGK iridium spark plugs. Hopefully this information helps, cheers! Great video. My son has a 2016 528i that broke down on him while traveling this past weekend. When it happened he said that he accelerated to pass a car when he got a warning light that his drive train wasn't functioning and his car started shaking or riding rough.
    He had it towed to a local BMW dealership and they called him today and told him he needed new coils and plugs and quoted him just over $1000 to fix.
    After watching your video we are going to do the work ourselves and I have a couple of questions
    a) when plugs and coils fail, is it common to initiate a drive train warning and cause the car to shake or riđe rough? When he told me about the drive train warning my first thought was maybe its the transmission.
    b) are all 528i models equipped with the 4 cylinder turbo motor?
    Thanks for your help.

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Troy Martz I’ve actually had this happen to me multiple times after accelerating quickly from a stop. It is possible for the the coils to cause a very rough idle if any of them fail. You could replace the spark plugs and see if that corrects your issue before jumping to replace the coil packs. When replacing the plugs definitely get NGK plugs and you will need a special spark plug socket in which I added a link for in the description below. Newer model 528 bmws have a turbo, is your BMW equipped with xdrive?

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @GroovyCachinDude when disconnecting the battery just be gentle with the cables. There are no extended measures to ensure keeping the computer programming. The only change you’ll need to do is that you will want to go into your onboard computer and there should be an area where you can select the service that has been completed. Also I would also like to add that it is not completely necessary to actually disconnect the battery, I alway recommend disconnecting the battery as a safety measure. Most sources, including the spark plug manufacturer, recommend NOT using anti-seize.

      I think anti-seize would be important when as the spark plug threads are steel, and the engine head is aluminum. Different metal types is the main reason for using anti-seize grease.

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Carlton Brooks I shared links for some of the exact parts in the description. Another route is to take note of the year make model and share them with your local parts store or use some of the online filters available. Amazon has a foyer where you can add a vehicle to your garage and then your parts that come up within your search should only be parts for that particular vehicle. Hope this helps. If you need any help let me know your vehicle details and I would help point you in the correct direction.
